  1. I stand corrected :) Thanks Pete! ;) ATB Dan
  2. Nad, AFAIK the rear quarter glass is mounted onto the chassis by means of a few bolts and a lot of adhesive. The rubber trim that runs along the bottom of the outside is bonded onto the glass and will come off with it. No special tools required, just a lot of patience. HTH Dan
  3. I have seen this equipment on a US Zed and to be quite honest the install was a right mess. The projection box was mounted on top of the cluster binnacle (can't cut anything out of the cover to mount the box lower as there are metal supports in the way) and the rectangular plastic "sheet" the info was projected onto was quite opaque meaning it would be constanly in-your-face. Not a very neat install but to give credit where it's due, the equipment did work as advertised!
  4. Please add me to the list and money is being paypalled in 2 minutes ;) Dan
  5. Is it me of do the majority of "reconned"/replaced turbos go pop soon after being fitted? I've had at least a dozen or so customers in the past 6 months who have had either turbo failure or engine problems not long after replacing stock turbos. When I sell our DTA performance chips I make it a point to ask the buyer all sorts of questions regarding the condition of the engine and car. Only when I'm satisfied the engine is in good working order will I proceed to inform the customer of the possible problems certain modifications may cause to a high performance engine which is anywhere up to 17 years old. Once that's done there is a disclaimer to go through and if the customer still wants to go ahead with the purchase I will complete the transaction. In relation to the above problem - I strongly suspect that one or both turbos were close to failure prior to installing the chip and boost jets. This has nothing to do with the chip, boost jets or even the garage who fitted them. Ok - upping the boost (as well as a host of other performance modifications) will have speeded up the deterioration of the turbos but they (the turbos) did not fail as a direct result of chipping the car. It is very unfortunate it happened but not unreasonable to expect on a 15-17 year old car. Best course of action is to replace the failed turbos (do it in pairs) with certified and warranted replacement units, go over the engine with a fine tooth comb and sort out any problems encountered. Only when you're perfectly happy the engine can't run any better would I suggest you chip the car and modify the boost (boost controller is favourable over boost jets). All stated IMHO of course ;)
  6. The problem is that dip beam is switched by the earth lead on the bulb/housing. If you have regular bulbs fitted you could earth the bulb to the chassis which prevents the bulb from switching off when flashing. Unfortunately that trick doesn't work when you have HID's installed in the dip beam and your only route is to do something clever with the wiring in/around the fuse box (see an earlier post for instructions).
  7. NO! Dip beam on both JDM and UK spec Zeds is H3 with the JDM being H3C. H1 will only fit in high beam (both JDM and UK spec). If you're stuck for any bulbs give me a shout - I stock all of them. HTH Dan
  8. You may find that the pins on the LED bulb do not match the openings on the car side. Other than that, LED lights like these will project a very strong circular red pattern on the light lens. If these bulbs had the LED's mounted around the radius as well then the directional effect could possibly be less. Make sure that if you buy these bulbs that they emit white light because you're mounting them behind a red lens. If you buy bulbs emitting red light you will not see much light on the outside of the light unit. HTH Dan
  9. Replied to your e-mail. Thanks! Dan
  10. Yep - I most certainly do ;) And have the H3C Xtreme White bulbs in stock. £15 for a pair plus £1.50 postage. Dan
  11. Tell you what I find funny about drive-through ATM's: Over in the US they are common place and when I lived there I used this facility quite a lot. However, on the keypad all the keys have the numbers written on them (as usual) but also in Braille for the blind ... If you're blind you really shouldn't be driving :wack: Only in the US of A! :D
  12. Sorry Dave - SWZ can't advertise their performance parts on here - please speak to Iain for verification. DTA-Motorsport is the authorised A'PEXi equipment reseller on this forum. Dan
  13. I believe so but you'll need to get the part sprayed in the right colour as they come primed but not painted. BTW - I've contacted Stillen about your price request - it's a waiting game now. Dan
  14. Ballasts will get warm no matter where you mount them. Ours now have a heatsink build onto the enclosure to facilitate better heat transfer to atmosphere. And no, you can't extend the wiring by splicing into them. Specialist wiring is involved. Dan
  15. JDM's have a separate bulb for side lights (mounted next to the H3 fog light bulb). And yes, you'd be well advised to change the car side bullet connector to a spade connector. Next time you change your bulb you can just plug it in. HTH Dan
  16. As far as I'm aware nobody does these for the Z32 in the UK. You'll either need to get it from Stillen (in which case I can source that for you) or from Japan (although I haven't seen many lately). Dan
  17. Hi Ed, Had a look at your rides section and you've got what I refer to as a "flat rectangular" strut brace. Certainly does the job but not as effectively as the one-piece Carbing strut braces (just an observation). Whether you can actually feel the handling difference by adding a rear strut brace is questionable but from a suspension point of view it most definitely makes a difference. You've already sharpened up the front side and now with the rear side also being sharpened up you should notice flatter cornering. HICAS has nothing to do with the performance gained from adding strut braces so don't worry about that. By the way - I've got one Carbing rear strut brace left as well as a "budget" type rear brace (from the same set as your front brace) Regards, Dan

Joe - I just responded to your PM regarding this issue without having seen this post. Will do some more thinking (and head scratching) and PM you later. ATB Dan
  19. Not too bad of a job. All rear strut braces allow you to retain the parcel blind. You have a choice of strut braces - Carbing, Stillen or Cusco (I may also still have a "budget" style lying around). Fitment for all of these varies slightly due to the shape and size of their mounting plates. However, you will need to remove all the paneling at the back (start dismantling from behind the centre light panel and work your way around). Once the panels are removed you can mount the support towers. And depending on the construction of the strut brace you either need to cut two holes in the panels or two slits (the carbing strut requires a slit as it is made from one piece). Easiest way to do that is with a dremel or other rotary tool. The Stillen strut brace is the only one that comes with templates which take the guess work out of where to cut the holes. If you haven't decided on which strut brace to get feel free to give me a call. I deal in all the above brands and would be happy to offer advice, etc. Good luck. Dan PS - I would advise you to fit a strut brace at the front as well so as not to upset the handling balance of the car.
  20. No sorry Paul but if anyone has a Gallardo or Murciélago then give me a call for performance parts ;) All the best, Dan
  21. Best time to get a good deal is the last or first day of the month - dealers are desperate to clear stock and all the new contract deals are announced on the first of the month. Point in case: on October 1st I walked into Phones4U and after about 30 minutes walked out with a brand new Samsung X820 phone for free (currently the thinnest phone at only 6.9mm thick  ) and an 18 month contract (Orange, 500 cross network, anytime minutes plus 500 texts for £35/month plus 9 months free line rental). I don't use the texts but the 500 minutes come in handy in my line of work! The free line rental is a bit of a gimmick because you get cheques back at the end of month 3, 6 and nine. So you pay a the £35 every month and get a cheque back every quarter. At the end of nine months I will go back to Phones4U and sell them the remainder of my contract (ie nine months) and initiate a new deal. I don't know what network you're currently on but it also pays to phone up Vodafone direct and speak to their sales department. They have deals available which are not available in-store. Having said that, I found out that if you walk into a Vodafone store and start haggling with the sales person he/she has the authority to put together contracts which are not advertised (so-called "under the counter" deals or "managers specials"). My motto is and has always been: "If you don't ask, you don't get". So don't be embarrased, just ask for what you want and you will be surprised what you can get that isn't officially advertised or available. HTH Dan
  22. No problem Simon - I'm glad you are pleased with the product (and service ;)) All the best, Dan
  23. Back in May (or June - can't remember exactly) I went to an Auto Italia show at the Motor Heritage Museum in Gaydon (ie Aston Martin's nursery & play ground ;)) Parking for Joe public was up the road from the museum at the Land Rover staff car park with a shuttle bus providing transportation to and from the museum. As I was slowly passing the entrance to the Museum complex the marshall waved me in and said I should park in the VIP parking next to the museum! "You can't drive a car like this and park it with all the numpties ..." his words (not mine) :) R E S P E C T !!!!
  24. Yes you can but it's likely they'll refuse to fabricate it (copyright, etc). The mats they've made for me in the past have been badged with "300ZX", "300ZX Twin Turbo", etc.
  25. No they don't. AFAIK they provide two pins and associated plastic caps to secure the mats. Autostyle are pretty good but they won't put on specific logos (such as the Nissan Z) due to copyright infringements, etc. Si, if you need help with them let me know - I have dealt with them on a number of occasions. Regards, Dan
