  4. Just a few piccys what happens when a 70mph 300zx has an argument with the central reservation on the M6...no prizes for who won...Oh how i wished i'd taken the shogun...
  5. Some more info, Came home from work, engine was warm, so when it idles there is this squeeling/tapping sound (still cant tell what it is) Did the long screwdriver trick, but couldn't determine where noise was coming from, Now get this.. i kneel down next to the drivers side front wheel, and i hear this noise 10 times better , dont know if it helps but you never know. rich Forgot to add, it sounds more like a belt squeeling when i hear it from the front wheel, not sure how the vvt springs work so cant say what noise they make
  6. Simon, can you point them out for me please thanks rich
  7. Thanks Simon, i'll see if i can do it lunchtime. Rich
  8. cheers simon, whats the deal with the noise stopping when i dip the clutch at idle, is it connected to load on the engine? Are the VVT springs easy to replace or is it a garage job. thanks Simon Rich
  9. Correct, on idle, but not cold idle, and on or abouts 2000 revs , goes away higher than 2K
  10. Simon some more info. started the car from cold this morning, could have sweared i heard a tat-tat-tat and then nothing, listened to the engine but i was running just like a V6 should, drove to work and established this noise comes on at 2000rpm, whatever gear, From the inside i'm sure it sounds like a belt squeeling... Parked up at work , engine running, took my foot off the clutch, and there it was rat -tat or squelling , just touch the cluth down a smidge and noise goes away, lift off...well i'm sure you get the picture.. Hope this helps in diagnostics Cheers Rich
  11. Seems to be louder when hot,can just hear it at cold, Why do i think its the turbos's ? simple, I'm paranoid! Rich
  12. Hi Guys, Got a problem and need some advice, just recently i've been hearing a "tapping" rhythmic sound, when i say recently, i mean i wasn't there yesterday but today it is.. Could it be tappets? thought at first it was a squeaky belt, Its bugging me and i keep getting the idea the turbo's have had it.. Any advice more than welcome Rich
  13. Joel, hi, it came with it when i bought it. rich
  14. Hi Guys Went to Milton Keynes last night, which is about an hour's drive. On the way there, (about 3/4 ) i noticed the oil Temp was running at about 102/103 degrees. i had not thrashed it in any way, but just took it easy (had the wife on board) i kept an eye on it till i parked up, stayed 100-103. Went home later after 2 hours, temp was no prob, stayed 85-90, i have noticed it go up to 97/99 after some positive driving... but it always returned to normal. is this something to worry about?, what exactly goes on with the oil, is it gearbox oil? any advice would be helpful. Cheers BTW its a TT
  15. Paul, what happened to the tailgate, did you sell it?, Rich
  16. Thanks, Enzo, thanks for the warning!! nice car though, shame it had to go. Groover, hi, Sika Flex! is that all, no bolts or screws?? if you look at the pic of the underside of the panel, there's not too much contact area, concerned it will just pop of one day! Makes me wonder if i should get another tailgate and take my time on it, and then re-spray the whole lot! Cheers anyway Rich
  17. Ah well, guess my sense of humour is a little to warped than anyone else's, it just tickled me seeing the zed sandwiched between 2 "normal" cars.
  18. H Guys Got one of these, and just wondering if anyone has actually fitted one themselves rather than send it off to the body shop.... if so, im after ways of securing it to the tailgate. The one i've got does not just 'sit' in the right place but can be persuaded with some clamps, is this usual?. From what i can see there are only 2 flat areas that come into face to face contact, which i hardly think would be enough to hold it in place with all the torsion going on. ***Sorry, Double posting - please feel free to delete***

  20. Ian, it deffo wasn't you, i cant seem to get over the image that sticks in my mind the most was that it was wide and low at the back, from these pics i'm sure it was a GTO. i'm still going to track him down and find out for sure.
  21. It was definitely old school, 92-93 Mitzi gto is the closest so far, i might go down the industrial park where he disappeared and go look for it. Was the GTO quicker than a Zed
