  1. just wondering if anyone has had similar issues, was driving home from work at midnight last night, put my foot down to overtake some idiot doing 40 in a 60 and when i took my foot off the throttle, the throttle stayed where it was and the zed carried on accelerating!!! managed to get it into neutral and get it to the side of the road before anything worse happened, got the torch out and lifted the bonnet and on of the metal pipes that comes out of the rocker cover had moved out and wedged against the throttle body!! pushed it back in and got the car home, was just a really strange thing to happen, had i not been on a straight road could have ended badly...
  2. £35 + vat, each, but their is no delivery cost as you collect from the dealer. and the rear strip was £42 + vat
  3. couldn't find them on the site... i went to Nissan to get a perspex strip for the back, (have been putting it off for weeks, although apparently they only do the one with the brake light, i ordered 26590-49p00 based on a thread on here hope its the right one lol. also asked about 99 spec indicators, and after working out which one was which found they were cheaper then z center...? got everything for £140, and they'll be here tommorow so im happy. :thumbup1:
  4. just trying to find some 99 spec indicators for my new bumper thanks jaikai  does anyone know where i can buy some? i was going to get them from z center but they only accept credit cards which seems really dodgy to me, so looking for somewhere else to get them from.
  5. thanks lost the cover to my footwell as it kept coming off, and have no idea where it is so thanks for the picture big help, ill give it a try or ill find an alternate source thanks.
  6. any ideas/ suggestions on how to fix the cigarette lighter? i don't smoke but i do want to plug a couple of 12v devices in now and then, mobile charger, and service light etc. from what i can tell their is no power to the socket, (have tried 2 sockets) is their a fuse is so which one? is their a common fault? if no fix can i take a new 12v supply from anywhere round their? thanks in advance
  7. sorry i missed it again, my Z has been messing around the last few weeks, sorted now so ill make sure i come to the next one.
  8. pulled the plenum again, (this time i bypassed the water pipes,) actually easier then i thought it would be egr is still on the car although i did find the exhaust manifold bung, just cant get to it with the engine in lol. can happily tell you its fixed!!!! just took it for a test run and its just like it was before. the air leak was a crack in the rocker cover??!! swapped it for a spare cover and all fixed yay!!:clap:
  9. i had a similar thought, they tend to leave a residue behind and im not sure what it would do. i was thinking if you sprayed it round the area, during a boost test it might help find the leak?
  10. mines an auto, its very close to the egr its just their is nothing else down their lol.
  11. right stripped the plenum off again, to sort a water pipe out that came off. coincidentally the std clamps don't work too well on silicon hoses lol. found a few t clamps so sorted that but their is another air leak i found just before i stripped it back, its down the rear of the engine where the egr is....? right i've replaced the hose on the egr, its not that, when i took it apart i check the plenum gasket( not that) i cant see any other air pipes down there what could it be its really confusing me, anyone know of anything else down their could cause a leak? can hear it when driving (especially as the turbos spoil up) did a boost test using the space saver so me psi and its defo round the egr.
  12. nice one, was thinking of doing something similar. got to say love your zed, if you don't mind me asking what purple is that?
  13. all solved and fixed back to her former glory (just alot louder -from new exhuast) lol didn't buy anything used my bleeder as a boost leak tester and one of my spare alloys (actually pumper up this time) and found 3 leaks!!! acc pipe the new silicon had split??? must have caught on something, the egr gasket on the drivers side (noise from before) had broken (was new so a bit weird lucky i had a spare) and my boost gauge take off was...off lol. idles nicely at 800rpm~ish, gauges read a nice stable vacumme. really happy now, dont have to lose the zed, already had 2 days of the boss windging why are you late....:cursing: errrm no trains at 4am lol :2guns: anyway thanks for all the help and tips, wouldn't have fixed it without your help.:thumbup:
  14. found the brake bleeder i made (made from a Tyre valve and a brake cylinder cap worked amazingly for a 1 man bleeding kit) and it fits the maf hole perfectly, only used an old wheel so about 20~psi, seemed to be coming the drivers throttle body??? checked it and the i/c conector to it all good now im just really confused lol. ill get a half decent 12v compressor, most are good for 100-200psi. and try again, just need to find time to go to halfords and get one.
  15. they are so expensive lol reckon i could make one for e a fiver lol, Tyre valve and a lid or plate of some sort don't need a gauge. thanks will try this when i get a change to go buy a 12v compressor.
  16. just looked them up didn't know what a boost leak tester was, so basically i need an electric Tyre pump and one of those kit?
  17. didn't even get down my drive this morning and the load stalled it.... now im presuming its an air leak after changing the plenum, but as for where i don't know, here is where it isn't intercooler hoses (lrg ones at front all 4 checked sealed and refitted) plenum to manifold gasket( brand new and sealed with instant gasket both sides.) acc (think that's what its called) at rear of plenum passenger side, new gasket and sealed with sealant) throttle bodies new gaskets and sealant( no sealant went in the tb's) balance bar new lrg rings sealant for smaller one, all vacumme lines i know of have been replaced and tightened with silicon hose, inc lrg ones attached to the acc etc at the rear. egr still fitted, new gaskets fitted. seriously what have i missed? tried jeffs trick of disconnecting maf and started much better, so know its an air leak. any help or advice would be appreciated, if i cant get it running right soon its going to have to go as its my daily drive :crying::crying:
  18. wish i knew??? all the gaskets were in the right place everything was tight, just took it all off and refitted. didn't change anything lol and the hose was hiden under the plenum got it out and in the right place now.
  19. right all fixed :sweatdrop: found where it went, i was being realluy blind...:blushing: thanks for all the help guys will post up video of my exhuast at some point as its a very different noise to before kinda wish i knew what i did wrong the first time though lol.
  20. right stripped it all back and strated again, its alot easier second time around lol, and amazingly, (as i found nothing wrong) started first turn of the key, and runs fine. however the water leak is still their and i dont know where the pipe goes... its located at the drivers dide back of the plenum, i tagged every pipe and their was nothing for it?????
  21. removed the fuel rail as a whole lol, removed the 2 vacumme lines on the regulators and 2 of the smaller pipes,
  22. wanted to but then realized i didn't know how with the engine in so didn't bother, same with egr had a z1 eliminator but have lost the exhaust manifold plug somewhere (possibly in my old zed, now gone) so couldn't do that either....
  23. yeah used a sealant on outer covers, said it was good for making gaskets and working with oil. and used brand new gaskets on center covers, yeah used new plenum to manifold gasket, and new tb and egr gaskets, (bought a whole kit) the sealant was left to set for an hour, but was only used on lower covers and only started the car for a test, wont be using it for a few days. im not the best mechanic in the world so more then likely i've made a mistake, will take it all off again tommorow and try again. will try disconnecting the afm first, thanks .
  24. removed the entire plenum, and the rocker covers, fitted new gaskets to the rocker covers just in case they were the case of the leak, and refitted everything.
