Alarm Location
Centre consul/dash is a good place as all the wires are there!! Brave man removing it yourself...The thatcham approved alarms are well wired in and become part of the car...not as simple as chopping the wires to take it off.. Theres someone on here..Bob from safe&sound in the traders section he would be better to ask as he knows....

Learning to ride!
Thats not direct access, its an intensive course which anyone over 17 can take. :slap: Direct access is available to over 21 years only to get onto bigger bike without doing the 2 year 'probation' on a power restricted bike. As you say, you are being tested for competence, trouble is, its a minimum standard and the rider might well reach the minimum standard or beyond. A test does not make a good rider/driver though (the tw@t with 'P' plates springs to mind!!) Bloody glad I did all this years ago, costs a lot of money to get your licence nowadays. I rode around the block, did the emergency stop and answered a few questions :hyper:

4x4s
Sorry mate, the 850R was not 4WD, would have been awesome if it was I guess. http://www.volvoclub.org.uk/850rep1.htm http://www.volvoclub.org.uk/tech/T5R-MiniBrochure.pdf http://www.volvoclub.org.uk/press/pdf/850T5R-PressRelease1995.pdf How sad am I....Volvo club..

4x4s
Ah, the 850 R, very nice, rare as you like so trouble finding them but not a 4 x 4 So I understand. Powered to the front wheels via a viscous coupling to get the power down. The R had better suspension etc to improve the handling. Volvo did do a 4WD 850 which was under 200 hp. Would have been a shame to put all that power in the R and then kill it off with 4WD. I was after 1 for ages but gave up as hard to find. 0-60 in just under 7 secs... If anyone finds a good one buy it and store it, a good investment I reckon.

Learning to ride!
I have taught people to ride since 87!!.used to do form CBT to advanced but for several reasons..gave up teaching this year. My Wife unfortunately had a bit of a crash last year and luckily did'nt kill herself (although she came close and was quite badly injured). Funny that people think they can hop on a bike and ride it whatever it is.. You wouldnt let your 17 year old son out in your 400bhp z after passing his test after 3 lessons afterall (or would you?) The reason that Direct and accelerated access is being looked at by the driving standards agency is that the level of training is not entirely adequate and I have to agree as it takes little account of actual ability and like all tests, if you get the minimum you pass. (though it should be extended to car drivers too!) I would say that if you want to learn to ride go for it, you wont believe the buzz you get from it but dont get ahead of yourself...blah blah blah... Good luck anyway..

NZR Win XP SP2
I had a prob with XP and my virus scanner / firewall (it was a bit old!) and as a result XP died and I had to re load XP. When I did I found I had loads of security probs and on the advice of Mike Groves did the SP2 update which sorted it. Sorry, cant tell u how but it has worked absolutely faultless since I did... I havent put it on my laptop as I dont use that on the net and am now reluctant to do so reading this!!! If it ain broke and all that.. Sorry I cant b more specific regards Pat

test code 34 ???
Yes, code 34 is the DET sensor. (was this from Conzult or ECU diag?) a reset might sort it?? Your option is to check connection or replace so I understand. Having read loads of posts on this site it would seem that the common thing is the connector so it would be wise to check this first and clean it up. I havent had this prob myself so only speak from what I have read . Hope you get it sorted. regards Pat

4x4s
Remember seeing something about Cherokee with tyre wear, people were replacing 1 tyre at a time and this was causing some transmission problemb (I could be wrong ) because they should have been replaced in pairs (common sense!) As before, no sutch thing as a cheap 4X4...bloody good fun though.. I had a series 2a Landrover a few years back..paid under 1K for it...crossply tyres, max speed of 65mph, handled like sh1te, tax exempt, smelt of rust (because bits of it were really rusty)...never let me down though...no good in winter though as the heater was cr@p.. Anyone else had one of theese??....excellent fun.....Sold it for a profit after 2 yrs..haha.. Think I will get another one now...MMmmm..???

Its an american custom which has been adopted by us... I think its sad that all year we tell our kids not to speak to strangers then for 1 night encourage them call on strangers and ask em 4 sweets!!! Whats that all about!!
