  1. I fully intend to be there  :D
  2. Yep- Golf GTtdi. Stupendous economy, reasonable power but it's the torque that gets you! Over 200 or something isn't it? 2 mates of mine bought them recently. Top cars.
  3. Nick, Long time no see- hope you're well mate! Mark
  4. Woohoo! Got the Eibachs on the rear today. No injuries or trappings... which was nice. Car feels good too! Bit to soggy outside to see properly, but feels good nonetheless. :) Mark
  5. And anovva one here! PM'd you my address again, just in case. :)
  6. I scraped off as much of the black goo as poss, cut up some old vacuum tube and pressed it into place onto what little black goo remains, then screwed them back on the car. Seems to be doing ok so far, and is hopefully watertight! And should be easier to remove the lights in the future.
  7. If you can be arsed, you can recalibrate the speedo, but it involves dismantling the binnacle and for the sake of convenience drilling a couple of holes in the speedo housing to access the adjustment potentiometers. Note that your odometer will also be out, which wouldn't be corrected even if you did recalibrate the speedo.
  8. LOL superb!
  9. Stock, apart from heavy tints. Looked like UK rear wheels. You were heading over the pedestrian crossing, past the multistorey near the town centre. Mark
  10. That's all very well, but how to you cut your sausages in half now, eh??! :p
  11. Mine too! She insists on reminding me every time she sees him. Then again, maybe it's revenge for years of "mmm... Kylie..."
  12. Cheers chaps :) Pain's subsided a bit, but that might be due to the 3 cans of painkiller :D Cheers Jay for space on the sofa watching TG! lol And for the record, the car corners noticably better now! Even in the rain this evening it turns in nicely rather than understeering to a slightly wobbly finale. Mark
  13. Cheers Ryan, getting there! Got the fronts done, ran out of time for the rears. Know what to expect now. See what you mean about which springs fit where :) takemetothepub- yep, they did the fronts for free :D Also posted the other aspects in the general section! Mark
  14. :headvswal This morning i set about putting on Eibachs all round, and new front shocks with help from mate. Bit like any other Sunday really  Got the first shock off after about 30 mins. But could we get the bugger disassembled?? Could we fook. Broke 2 spanners, one with its jaws reinforced by molegrips. Panic call to ZTech, and advice on how to better use the molegrips. Nah, the shaft just span... Argh! Wrote a panic post on here, but eventually resigned myself that it wasn't gonna happen. By chance found a local garage that was open and willing to help- whipped the other shock off in 5 minutes and trundled over to the garage. They whizzed everything into bits in 5 minutes; what we'd failed to do in about 4 hours! Reassembled everything, all looked good. Until i realised i'd left the door ajar and flattened the battery- D'oh!!! :slap: Started to pushed the car out the garage so we could jump start it. Realised the wing mirrors would be smacked, so i jumped in to steer. The car rolled out but the rear wheels got stuck in a dip, trapping me in the car! My mate couldn't rock the car out, so i undid the targa and clambered out. So we managed to rock the car out of the rut and out of the garage, but not before I'd slipped on the garage floor and wrenched my shoulder on the bumper! 5 years with no dislocation, then done this. Then it turned out the jump leads were buggered, so the car is now blocking my mate's drive with a charger plugged in. And i'm sat at home with my arm in a sling, an ice pack on my shoulder, typing this with one hand and for the second time coz I screwed up a keystroke and closed IE before I posted!!!! :x: :headvswal And to add insult to injury to insult, I can't watch Top Gear coz Miss Fookin Marple is on!!!!!!!!!!! :wack: :x: :headvswal
  15. Cheers bud! I'll see if there's a way of sorting this closer to home first, but if not I'll give him a bell :-) Mark
  16. Any help much appreciated! I'm in the process of installing Eibach springs and have hit a snag... Got the first front shock out easy, but I can't dismantle the shock to remove the spring. Tried molegrips on the shock shaft, but they just slipped. Anyone got any top tips that don't involve serious garage tools?! I've got new shocks for the front, but I'm hoping to re-use the rears which are only 2 years old anyway. Alternatively... 1) Does anyone have the top mounts & gators from a set of shocks? (Or any shocks for that matter) 2) Does anyone have a spare fully assembled front passenger side shock & spring?! Cheers, Mark
  17. Search, as they say, is your friend! ;) You might have to register with http://www.ttzd.com to get to Vijay's link, but it's worth it coz there's loads of good technical descriptions there. For connector locations, there is a post somewhere (try searching for "engine bay" or something) where they're all labelled up. They're easy to get to though. :)
  18. Won't be able to make this one  got an MTB comp. Then again, if I'm too hung over from my previous day in London but not too hung over I can still drive, I might be able to make it! :D Mark
  19. Way ahead of its time. Despite the clones and attempts to better it, Eve is the only true successor, and look how much time passed between the two!
  20. :( probably couldn'y have made it anyway- hope it's a good 'un :)
  21. Full body kit, round rear light conversion (not Lambos tho). You pulled off outside Infinity/Motorcycle City and headed off towards the A331. Anyone here??? Mark
  22. Hope Spain was good mate :) Incidentally, if you check the PistonHeads forum you'll find some complimentary stuff about S2s. Seems they're considered a good car after all ;) :smash: :wack: :mac1:
  23. Cheers bud :) There's loads more (and better!) pics, and links to pics, on the PistonHeads website itself... http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?p=18&f=65&t=234984&h=0 Wonder how much that car-park was worth at its peak?!
