  1. But I just gave you all that beer money?! (Incidentally I guess you need a new sig pic! :) ) Good for you mate. Swimming's deffo one of the best exercise to do. Non-impact to start with, just don't think too much about what's in the water you're swimming in!
  2. My girlfriend bought me some Simpsons slippers to wear around the house instead of shoes to help preserve the carpet- "class" I though. She decided they were really comfortable and wore them all the time herself! So she bought me a 2nd pair of Simpsons slippers (different design). And ended up wearing them coz she wore out the first pair. So she bought me a 3rd pair, which started coming unstitched and I haven't got around to having them repaired lol. Maybe I'm destined never to wear them?
  3. At least you've done your reading up tho- very poor that they're not interested then give you potentially dangerous advice. Like everyone else says- if things don't seem right then to the hospital. Hope you find some more responsible people next time... M.
  4. Have you checked your tyre pressures? I had the same problem and found they were about 5 PSI too high- took the air out and it was like a new set of tyres!
  5. Cheers for the well wishes :) Jay- cool I see you've changed your avatar everywhere to one of the better pictures from Saturday! Yeah you took me kicking and screaming down the pub didn't you?! :slap: :duffer: lol I can see my zed from the bathroom! It looks all shiny and wanting to be driven. The most annoying thing is that I didn't have the chance to put my new (stellaz' old) alloys on. That was gonna be Sunday's job! d'oh
  6. bantambunny- yeah I've done my kneecap in the past too! Exposed it rather than dislocated though. piesoup- we go to the Lookout fairly regularly! Definitely has the best riding in the immediate area :D Our new long-ish ride takes us there and back from the Basingstoke Canal visitor centre in Ash. And we sometimes join a bunch of chaps who ride from the lookout carpark at 9am every Saturday. Lead by a guy with a tache and glasses called paul (the guy, not his glasses) Other than that, we mostly ride around Ash/Fleet/Farnborough (Tunnel Hill, Tweesledown, Ceaser's Camp, Yateley Heath Woods) If you're up for a ride around my area, keep an eye on http://www.bikemagic.com under the Farnborough/Hants rides, often organised by Jay who used to own a 300 (his BM login is Jay300zx). When I'm back up on 2 wheels I'll let you know if I'm heading over to Bracknell :) Mark
  7. If you feel like having a go at some jumps that kids have built, my advice is DON'T! lol Aw look at it outside- blue sky just going orange, a few streaky clouds, what a great evening to be down the pub! I've lost all hope. I'm going to do it!... I'm going to watch... Big Brother... That should make my brains explode...
  8. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you do a bit of jiggery-pokery with the pipes recirculating the high pressure air back to the tubs (i.e. remove from the recirc valve, and plug up the pipe you removed) then that'll work the same as a dump and give you the same sound. Just make sure you do it to the right pipe...
  9. [ Warning- this is just a self-indulgent moan about a minor injury I just gave myself! It's all me, me me... :) ] I fell off my mountain bike on Saturday- not quite sure exactly what went where, but I landed heavily on my side and I think I jammed my own fore-arm under my ribcage and into a kidney! :headvswal Rolled around for a bit, like you do. Got up, carried on riding although just watched my mate to the rest of the jumps. Then cycled to the pub for a beer. Only when I got back and went for a tinkle did I realise things were more amiss than just being winded  Got the girlfriend to drive me down to A&E. 2 ultrasound scans and a CT scan later (over 3 days), it seems I've bruised the kidney and disrupted the blood flow slightly. It'll mostly recover, but that hardly maters because did you know you can survive on 1/3 of one kidney with NO adverse affects?! Fascinating! Till it does though, I'm on orders of bedrest for 2 weeks. Looks like I'll be browsing the forum a lot... :wack: Mark
  10. Lots and lots of discussion on this here. http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=37089 :) Interesting topic- not sure if I'll do it myself though! :slap:
  11. I avoided your first problem by washing the car in the rain in the first place. :) Then parked under a tree at work the following day, came out and found it absolutely covered in arsing pollen... Might as well not have bothered. :headvswal
  12. Hooray! A speedo related thread- one of the few things I can tackle. :D You can calibrate the speedo. Disassemble the gauge pod and you'll find the PCB has a 2 potentiometers. One sets the offset and the other does the scale. To make it easier to set, I drilled 2 holes in the gauge assembly and drove with a small screwdriver sticking out the top of the dash (with the binnacle top removed). You can then drive to a GPS speed and set the pot. M.
  13. On behalf of my old town, thanks! :) Missed the match myself  Hope they stay up a bit longer this time...
  14. Got it sorted! :D Plugged the same drive into another PC as a secondary drive running XP. It recognised there was a problem and fixed it. Put it back into my machine and hey presto! One working PC. Hope it gave everyone who read this something to do on a warm but overcast afternoon! :) Mark
  15. Got a really odd problem, and it's probably one simple thing that's happened but I don't quite know how to find out! :( Basically my PC running XP won't boot up. It finishes the initial motherboard stuff- memory check, what drives are there, etc but then goes black screen and absolutely nothing else happens- no hard drive activity, nuffink. I tried booting off the parent XP installation CD and I get the same problem. I put in an old Windows 98 boot floppy with an NTFS driver and that gives me a prompt. Using that, it allows me to look in all drives EXCEPT my XP boot partition. The other partitions on the same NTFS drive are all accessable, as is my other FAT32 drive which I use for backup, as are the CD drives. So my current diagnosis is that my various drive controllers are working fine, the drives themselves are working fine. Either I have a problem with my boot partition which is triggered (when it's scanned?) even if you're booting from CD, or there's a problem on the motherboard that is preventing anything from booting at all. (Scratch that last one, as it boots ok off floppy) I'm still investigating as I type, but if anyone has any pointers I'd greatly appreciate it! Cheers, Mark
  16. Had a vented nose panel (2 vents- sorry I can't identify which type! :) ), standard rear lights and a loud exhaust of some type. That's the best description I could get from the Westbound carriageway in an unremarkable silver Astra! Mark
  17. Christ that's quick. Either a) the driver's a bloater, b) the seats are cheap, or c) it's so incredibly quick, but the seats flex something chronic each time he changes up and floors it! Under much more sedate braking, at 1m40s-ish, the camera case or something flies forward and hits the dash! lol

Run flat tyres are good for punctures, but if you have a true blow-out then you've completely lost tyre integrity, and you're possibly no better off. I think, IMHO, etc :D
  19. LOL @ the 120 quite-thang- been there too. I've also been pulled-out-infront-of at 120 by someone doing 50-60. Brown adrenaline, plus a good case study why TVR should put ABS in as standard (well they didn't the last time I checked, dunno if they do yet...)
  20. It's not been mentioned yet, and I'm sure it'd be checked when you have your clutch replaced, but when I had the same symptoms the real problem was the rear crank seal. Still needed my (contaminated) clutch replaced, but worth having it checked!
  21. Looks good there mate!
  22. Refund for one please. (Paid by PayPal) Ta.
  23. Temp and time is a bit hit and miss- it depends on how you position the lights and what your oven is like! Key things are: 1) don't force it if it's too stiff 2) don't leave it unattended till you know how your own setup works! I set mine to about 200 but wedged the lights in the door, it would take about 15 mins for the side exposed to heat to soften. The first time, check it every 5 mins to be safe; once it's soft, it does pull apart easily. Mark
  24. I tried the silver-coated ones but found they weren't bright enough so just used orange ones; you can't see it very well so doesn't spoil the clear effect. Had to file down one of the pins on the bulbs to fit the clear holder.
  25. Detail schmetail! :) I'm still captivated every time I see it!
