Top Gear 300zx
The white 300ZX was (is?) owned by Steve Willetts...It won the Concourse at the JAE at Billing back in 2004 and also featured on the Z Club stand at the NEC Classic Show too. He was at Tatton Park with the car last year and I think the only modification that the car has had was to fit 350z wheels!

Your thoughts on price ....
Hi, It looks a nice unmolested late example, so would definately be worth a look at! If you keep it for a rew years then the initial purchase price is less relevant....After all £7k isn't much anyway in the scheme of things! Cheerz, Jez.

I want my car back
Hi, I took my 280ZX in for a gearbox oil change yesterday morning....I was getting twitchy by lunchtime! Walked round to the Garage and they had already done the job, so I took it away asap! I never like leaving my Zed with anyone for very long! Cheerz, Jez.

300ZX 2009 Calendar Shoot
Hi, I passed right by the big cooling towers at Rugeley whilst going to Tatton the other week...They're nearly as big as the exhausts on some Zeds!.... Might be difficult to fit them in the picture though!

Top Gear, Series 11, Episode 6
Hi, Overall it wasn't a particularly good Series this time....It's getting a bit too scripted and predictable! How come Jay Kay got to have a choice of fastest lap in the new car, when everyone else now just gets practice laps and then only one eligable fast lap? Jez.

Totb
You only ever see NA's on the road because all the TT's are broken down or off the road having "upgrades"!:D

official stats of a uk 300zx?
Hi, One of the most reputable magazines at the time the UK 300ZX was launched was Autocar. They used what was then state of the art measuring equipment, whereas some other magazines only used stopwatches back then! Here's a link to a copy of the original UK Autocar road test........ http://www.zclub.net/forum/showthread.php?t=8878&highlight=autocar

Need to get something off my chest...!
Hi, The swb model looks a bit stumpy as though it's been rear ended by another car and the rear of the car sits up too high! However, if you're the lonely type and haven't a family or many friends to transport, then I'm sure it's more sporting to drive!:p Funny how Nissan used the LWB version for motorsport though!;) Cheerz, Jez.

Do you need reverse lights for MOT?
Hi, My old Z31 passed it's mot a few years running without working reversing lights!....Depends how strict the tester is! Jez.

Did anyone see the white zed on top gear?
Hi, Apparently in next week's show Clarkson does drive the GTR on a Japanese race track! I spent the whole of the Japanese part of the programme looking out for Zeds on the road!....Only saw the white Fairlady Z32 though! Jez.

Anyone had a Seat Leon?
Hi, One thing I did find was that the ride was quite firm...which was ok on the smooth Menorcan roads, but may not be so good on the UK's potholed streets!...And the steering seemed a bit too light too. I would definately now consider a SEAT as a daily car though, as generally it was quite impressive!...Would probably have to be the more family orientated Altea model though. Cheerz, Jez.

Anyone had a Seat Leon?
Hi, The dash lights up a nice red colour at night btw!

Anyone had a Seat Leon?
Hi, I recently had a Seat Leon TDi whilst on holiday in Menorca. It was the latest shape car though. It felt quite sporty and handled quite well, plus the TDi diesel engine made it quite fast too! I looked up the spec when I got home and it would appear to have an engine out of the Golf. Jez.

Is diesel dead?
Hi, When you're buying a used car, the difference in initial purchase price isn't much different, but you do save on your daily running costs...I was initially saving about £10 per week on fuel, although this has become less recently...plus the annual road tax is usually lower for the diesel car, based on co2 emissions. If you only keep your car for 12 months and do a low mileage then the purchase cost will have more of an effect.I usually keep my family car for 3-4 years and do a higher than average mileage, so over 3-4 years this makes a difference. When I bought my car recently they had several petrol and diesel models all at the same price, give or take a few £s, my diesel model actually had the lowest mileage too! If I can save £500 a year running my daily car, then that's £500 more I can spend on my ZX!;) Jez.

Is diesel dead?
Hi, I recently changed to diesel for the daily driver, just before the price shot up!....My 2.0 Diesel Citroen averages about 52mpg, whereas my previous 1.6 petrol car struggled to about 34mpg! I was put off diesels years ago when I had an Astra diesel company car which was painfully slow and noisy too! The more modern TDi/HDi engines are much better though and I find it takes about a week to adjust your driving style, so that you're not trying to rev the engine too much like a petrol engine, but change gear earlier and ride the wave of torque available...It does make it more relaxing to drive and relatively deceptively quick too! Cheerz, Jez.

TOP GEAR Reminder!
Hi, Have to agree that the 1st in the new series was pretty awful!....Hopefully the GTR vs Bullet Train episode will be more interesting?! Jez.

Speed at 4500rpm
Hi, I was doing about 4500 revs on the M40 a few years ago, in my Z32 NA...When the cops stopped me they had clocked me at an average speed of 112.45mph over 1.8miles. The result was a 56 day ban!...no points though!
-
Speed at 4500rpm
115/6 approx mph in a TT..105mph approx in an NA, as final drive ratio is different. The UK spec TT manual had gearing of 25.7mph/1000revs in fifth gear whereas the NA's were 23.4mph/1000revs. Obviously different tyre/wheel sizes will affect these figures, as will expansion of your tyres at speed on a warm day!
