turbo water pipes removed !
its a little more than to prevent heat soak on spirited driving. these units need the cooling constantly. Ask any turbo specialist and they will tell you the same. its really not a good idea. its not difficult to replace the hoses or even the pipes if there are issues. all its doing is building in unreliabilty and shorting the life of the units.

turbo water pipes removed !
Just a heads up guys . I have in the shop at the moment an upgraded tt with the water coolant pipes having been removed from the turbo's ! This is the third car i have seen this last 6 months with this very risky mod carried out. I would recommend Not having this type of water bypass carried out its only going to lead to a shorten the life span of your turbo's. Air cooled Turbo's are built differently in the core to manage heat etc. water cooled units need water. Hope this is good information for you. Daz D2

Sump/ rear main leaks
It's not know were these dumps were first removed. I wouldn't think due to oil leaks more like engine builds and big bearing jobs. Sump done years ago even in japan maybe . Bit they don't leak from Nissan from new I can tell you that . Iv been with these cars from new and see it this way. Hope that helps daz D2

Sump/ rear main leaks
The point I was making about a simple repair. is that you think sealing a sump should be easy yet I see it all to aften were just simple errors creat a problem with pol leaking. Just trying to give some tips from my knowedge.

Sump/ rear main leaks
It must be automotive silicone gasket sealant. The rule is clean and dry and care then it will all be ok. I have done 4 in as many weeks. Iv only ever done rear main seal very very rarely. Normally the sump at fault from a previous repair.

Sump/ rear main leaks
I thought I would share my experience on this one. I get a few z's a year here with me with oil leaks from rear of engine and the customers believes to be rear main leaking. On inspection 9 out of ten of these cars have evidence of sump removel at some time in it's life. This is the biggest clue. These oil leaks have almost always been sump leaking at the rear. Not the rear main. It's a very simple repair which seems to be difficult to get right by many. One of the cars into us had had 4 rear main seals fitted in a year by another z garage only to be the sump. Anyway here is a run down of things to remember when resealing your sump to get it sealed first go. Once the sump is off clean off all old gasket paste frm sump and engine block. Replace the half moon rubbers if possible. Clean sump and block with a good solvant we use dry brake cleaner. Next key sump faces with light paper or grit pad. Next I use light cover of blue gasket paste on each half moon then possition in place on the block ends. Next use silicone sealant to place a cover over the thin ends of each half moon as it lays flat on the block . Next the sump run a bead of silicone pea size all the way around the sump faces . Next using your finger pull the side of the bead down to the egde of the sump face on the inside egde all the way along do the same for the outside egde this should leave a neat layer of silicone with a high beaded section at the centre. Last run a very thing layer of blue sealant around the rounded sections at each sump end. Now very carfully refit the sump. Tighen each bolt up evenly . Once on Do Not Fill with oil for a couple of hours. These things should ensure a good sealed and well fitted sump . DAZ D2

Faults of many
I have seen similar a couple of time down here in kent. I seems theres alot of breakers and back street garages repairing Z's to sell on . as we know theres a lot of spare engines out there so people seem to be mix and matching many odd parts . alot of horror storys my end as well at the moment . Maybe its the time of year for it :). Daz. ( D2 )

Bottom end help and advise.:helpsmilie:
if the mains and crank need doing mate. you really should think of doing this job engine out. as you will need a total clean of the engine and there may be other damage. In my experience if the mains are gone then theres been somthing bad gone wrong in there. the z engine is almost bullet prof so rare to see mains blown. are you sure its not just big ends you need?

300ZX FLANGE ASSY-COMPANION Help Please
Whats up with yours ? I have never seen a flange go on a z ever before.

If i.....
The only way to bypass the turbos to reduce pressure would be to open the wastegates not hold them closed mate.

Bottom end help and advise.:helpsmilie:
Which bearings are you replacing mate.? Big end only or mains as well? Was you intending to replace the crank?

Alternator problem
You need to take a close look at the fusable link in the little fuse box on the O/s front fire wall area. Its the link which looks like a wire loop. check that this link has not blown as this will break the connection to the alt if it is. pull on the link wire to see if it is broken within it sleave. The alt on Z's are almost bullet prof. Iv only ever change 1 in twenty years working on these cars so check everything else first mate. daz D2

Should i be worried?
reducing the back pressure in the exhaust can have an effect on the turbo sealing. as a low back presure can alow oil to flow more freely through into the exhaust downpipe if it were held back before by back pressure in the downpipe.

Tub removal
I havnt posted much of late as iv been so very busy since my bussiness partner left the garage. It's not that I havnt been bothered as yassa has been keepinge up to date with things and I have been to the z monthly meet. As for the turbos it's no problem doing both turbos on car. Any good z mechanic can easyly carry out this repair fully. I have done this repair many times and I'm sure non of mine have ever fallen off or leaked water etc. Infact I'm sure vjays turbos are still on his car and I fitted them way back in2000. :)

Rear mounted turbo
Hi mark In the 25 years iv been doing Z's this conversion is by far the most radical and outstandingly different way to turbo an N/A. Its a great conversion the results are fantastic. And it sounds like nothing else you will hear. Give me a call or a pm and i can give you full details mate. Regards Daz.

Single turbo route
The rear turbo setup we did worked really well on standard internals. And 300zxys car sounds like no other z out there.
