ah, never saw that and it seems to have disapeared. well i enjoyed the last hatchgate meet, lots of Zs and good food and some good photos after. and it's the neerest meet to where i live so far :) so would be happy to go there if someone was to organise something
  3. as far as i know the only amps fitted to imports are the bose ones Dave has already described (apart from the starnge setup in my 95 convertable involving a stock amp in the rear under the swb specific trim behind the passenger seat that runs the front speakers) it's possible if the audio hasn't worked since you got it that the previous owner had fitted an aftermarket amp which they removed before selling try: looking under passenger seat or boot carpet for an amp or wires that might have gone to an amp look at battey to see if extra +ve wire fitted that used to go to amp open door, you'll see the rubber "hose" that contains the door wiring loom, gently prise one end out and see if there are any extra speaker wires (the stock loom should be all tidy in one bundle) or look in the footwell where the door loom comes in to the car to see if there are extra speeker wires and where they go does the head unit loom have the origonal nissan connectors (one 6 pin , one 10 pin i think - not all pins present) with converter leads to iso connectors or the head units connector - if so look for a wire on the nissan loom that has no wire in the head unit side of the plug / socket. this MAY be power for an nissan amp also bear in mind that the nissan wiring loom if i remember correctly has no ground wire in it, the ground needs to go from the spade terminal bolted to the chassis behind the head unit to a bolt on the head unit or the head unit ground wire
  4. it depends if it is a uk or import

it depends, they could be the bose plastic box with amp and speaker built in, in which case i'm not sure or they could be a 6" diameter (not the 6 1/2" that is standard these days) the only direct fit replacement with the 3 mounting holes in the right place were some kicker 6" speakers
  8. make 2 small wires ring crimp at one end and blade recepticle crimp at the other end, (alternativly cut blade crimp off existing wire and fit ring crimp) fit as pictures , unplug black HID wire from where it is and via new wire screw it to a convenient bit of chasis .
  9. excellent, i've done what you suggested and it was quick and easy and sorts out most of the problem. full beam and the HIDs together is awsome :) the only small problem is that when you flash someone with your lights off, the HIDs flash as well. which is where i guess the more complicated method benefits.
  10. ok, what am i doing wrong, why is my photo a little red cross????
  11. yup-doh! took photo of wrong car- no, i'm at work, bored, convertable parked outside door, camera on desk, uk spec at home
  12. well it might help so: wahooooo, i done it!!! i posted a picture :) .
  13. yes convertable, i would have thought the seat belts would be the same, certainly the lower end, not got anything to comparee it too. looks like it may be fairly standard how bout a photo of a uk spec?
  14. yup, got some here , still not learnt how to post them though.....
  15. thinking of coming, but the westbound carigeway goes to wales not london :)
  16. sorry, not understanding, isn't it already grounded?
  17. http://www.aus300zx.com/tech/H-light_conversion.doc .
  18. indeed, that's what i meant, it was late
  19. check your brake fluid
  20. both of those batteries have the terminals the wrong way round for the 300zx managed to fit the bigger one in ok(had to remove scuttle pannel to wire it up) , just had to make up some longer cables to attach it the larger one came with screw terminals on the battery and the standard battery terminals screw into them, so you can bolt ring crimps straight to the battery to save height be careful if you do screw the battery terminals in as i sheared one off fitting it and spent ages removing it
  21. have a look at the AH rating on your battery , (probably around 50AH) this is how many amps for how many hours. so if your charger provides 1A then it will take 50 hours to charge alternativly, how many amps can your charger supply / did it supply when you first started charging the battery. if it was about 10 amps and it has now dropped to 1A then it is probably fairly well charged.
  22. if you look at http://www.automotive-electrical.co.uk/batteries/energy%20marine%20and%20rv%20full%20catalogue.pdf it has the first one at 237mm and the second at 225
  23. did you get one of these? I'm looking for a new battery and it looked to me that it was either going to be an very tight fit or a not fit at all
  24. to me the car seems to flex and twist to much, thought it might stifen things up. could be wrong. the bit of metal in the way is the divide between the boot and the rest of the car and doesnt look like it does much for stiffness
