gearbox misbehaving / burning smell / grinding noises , roughly in that order
  3. I got onto the motorway yesterday and floored it, car went into power mode, got up to 70mph and eased off on the acelerator and the revs (on the meter) dropped to nothing but the car carried on at the same speed even when i took my foot totaly off the acelerator. got to a hill and went to accelerate a bit, nothing happened for a for the first bit of acelerator travel then revs shot back up to 5000 (so i seemed to only have a choice of 0 revs or 5000revs). i carried on for a bit then pulled into the services (it has happened a couple of times before and stopping has seemed to fix it). got out of the car to discover burning smell from under bonnet, engine was hot, fan running like mad blowing lots of hot air but radiator not perticuarly hot (as in i could touch it and fairly soon open it to check it had coolant). so i let it all cool down for quite a while and then drove off. all seemed ok round the car park so went to leave, at the point where i would expect it to change gear there was a bit of a grinding / scraping noise from under the car so headed back to teh car park and continued the journey on the back of a recovery truck so guys, whats the verdict?

couple more photos - i give up, i can't work this modern technology
  5. the UK seats don't have adjustable lumbar support the latter model import seats don't have adjustable bolster width the electric passenger seats only have slide and tilt back controls but not raise / lower the back and front of the seat that the driver seat has. if your passenger likes a very upright seat then they may not find enough adjustment
  6. no idea, I've phoned , emailed and PM'd a number of times over the last 6 months trying to get work done on my car. not had a reply yet, phone was actually answered once about 4 months ago and i was told he would phone me back when they could fit me in but it might be a couple of months
  7. i don't normally say much ,and i'm certainly not taking sides in any arguments, but..... when i joined the forum i thought wow traders recomended by people who know what theyre talking about, they must be excellent (maybe i was being a bit naieve) but i rely on the "good job" posts and am woried that their apear to be a lot of people who want to post "bad job" but havn't for whatever reason anyway i changed from the garage i had been using for years (because i had started to suspect they werent doing a very good job) to one of the traders purely on the recomendations of forum members and the fact that (in my mind) the commitee must think he is a good trader. i think he did a good job, but to be honest , i'm not a mechanic so i have to trust he did a good job, for all i know he may have done a bad job or not have done a thing . but the point of my post is; i have dealt with quite a lot of the traders (and a few members) on here and I don't want to complain about any of them, there is nothing to make me phone any of them and say i'm not happy - i'm fairly sure i got everything i paid for; I just have a general feeling of disapointment that generally they didn't provide the wow i origonally expected (especially the ones who said they would phone back and didn't) and to be honest there are now a few who i would not recomend if i was asked directly i was starting to feel what seems to be the general feeling that all the traders are mates of the comittee and that you are not alowed to post negative feedback. I also had no idea that if i did have a problem that there was anyone to help, so i'd like to thank Shunter for a) posting the quote below and b) for offering to sort out other peoples problems. ian

  17. the run from bracknel was amusing , never seen so many lost cars driving round and round roundabouts after we got seperated because of the fire engines. at one roundabout we were 3 wide going round all hoping the other new where we were going and then all left via different exits, i ended up in a mini 5 car convoy that went the direct route
  18. i thought it was a shame that we didnt sort out all parking together like most of the other clubs had, we must have parked as far from each other as possible, i saw 6 other zeds but only talked to 2 owners my photos are at:
