  1. It is! That was kind of my whole reason for doing it, I hate the elastic-band-throttle-cable feeling of turbo motors. Got to say, in this respect it has exceeded my expectations, the finesse you can meter the power out with is unbelievable and the response is literally instentaneous. Can't wait to get the steering sorted out so I can start to exploit it and get a feel for the limits again.
  2. Flywheel, never see the point in quoting wheels figures, its meaningless. You can do 2 runs in different gears and get different wheels figures, changing tyre pressures will change the wheel figure as will sitting someone in the boot but if you do the run down properly you'll always get the same flywheel figure.
  3. Managed to get a quick trip to the dyno today to sort some running in mapping but unfortunately my clutch release bearing siezed on one of the run downs so had to cut the session short. Didn't even get any mapping done, just enough runs to establish 2 things really: First that the fuelling is still too rich but OK to run for now. Second that the airbox/intake hose combo I have is too restrictive. Didn't manage to isolate which part due to the problem above, very frustrating. Results so far, with air box lid on, ~350bhp. With lid off 420bhp @ 7.5k (on the current rev limit). Not too bad for such a rough, guesstimate tune, hopefully a bit more to come. I think I may have been a little conservative on the cams, at 2500rpm it's making 300ft-ibs :D
  4. Cheers, as for how much, believe me, you don't want to know  You could do it cheaper but as Si said, my engine cost ££££ as it's pretty much full on race bottom end with sightly more road friendly cams. Obviously the rear lights were the best £300 spent though ...
  5. What you mean you don't hate the bonnet vent too  Cheers all for the comments. I MUST get that brake squeal sorted too!
  6. Another vid of the 500zx, bit of a compilation. Prob be the last one until I get to the dyno as it's still only locked to about 60% throttle and 7k rpm at the minute. Shame the video camera doesn't really capture the sound properly though, on the drive by, it sounds immense when you're actually there! Proper spine tingling!
  7. Looking good Nick, good luck in getting it finished off!
  8. Congrats on getting it sorted! You could never tell you worked for SFS from the pics :D
  9. Cheers for all the comments! Been out putting some more miles on it toady and even my girlfriend keeps switching the exhaust to loud mode and laughing! And I thought she would hate it!
  10. 11. Woo Hoo!!! Finally on the road :hyper::hyper::hyper: Taxed and tested today, straight through MOT and have done about 2 hours driving running in. No leaks and nothing caught fire or fell off so a success as far as I'm concerned! First impressions: Front suspension geometry is miles off, makes for interesting cornering. Engine is bloody responsive, mapping very crude just now but even so, the throttle response is almost telepathic and it pulls VERY well as far as I have tried it. Car feels much more alive with all the solid mounts etc. There is no slack anywhere. The V8 sound is awesome - will get some vids ASAP
  12. Cheers fellas! Was stuck in Sardinia for 2 weeks until Saturday so didn't go online over the weekend.
  13. I'll be doing one for my car if I ever get home from sardinia! Have already done the front section, just the engine one to go. Will get some pics when I have it finished.
  14. You can easlily pad it yourself, or paint it whatever colour you want! Yes, there is a harness bar included. I'm working in sardinia at the minute so a bit out of the loop, will see what's happening when I get back (whenever that is!!)
  15. Will have some soon, going offshore to work for a few days so will sort something when I get back. If you search on here for roll cage threads by me you should find some stuff.
  16. The cage has a rear cross bar and harness bar as part of it so no problem connecting harnesses. Spoke to Leon today and these will be readin in a few weeks, he just has a backlog of work on a Noble M400 to get through first.
  17. If you just want the rear section of the cage, can do that too. Can just geta rear section done without the brackets for the front tubes and door bars.
  18. Can get MSA approved T45 full 6 point bolt in from Leon at Alunox. He's doign them now for SWB and LWB is nearly done.
  19. Even easier, you can just bypass the fuel pump ECU with a bit of wire and then you don't have to worry at all! It is a bit noisier on idle but that's the only downside. Theoretically you may heat up the fuel slightly more but I doubt you'll ever notice it!
  20. Would maybe be tempted to use threaded rod to mount it and put some penny washers and nuts under the bottom flanges on the cooler just to give it some additional support and take the stress of carrying the weight off the brazing. It's a resonable weight getting thrown around when it's full of oil.
  21. On the rear knois you have to remove them to adjust, as I remember you have to depress them then rotate the piston rod. If you're feeling flush, get some 3 way adjustable shocks then you have independant high speed bump adjustment which is great for eliminating shocks from sharp surface changes. It's why some modern cars have amazing body control but absorb bumps well. I specced some up with Nitron that I'll be getting for mine when it's MOT'd, Jaffa has them but they are £££££
  22. Danny, you're 2nd on the list at the minute, keep getting sent away to work for weeks so struggling for time! Andy, email me on JohnDixon300@blueyonder.co.uk Cheers
  23. Why not just re-locate the sensor to stop it happening again? I believe there's a 1/8 blank on the filter housing you can use.
  24. Give me a buzz when you're working on it mate, will see if I can give you some pointers. You got a conZult?
  25. Looks like the race to get them finished is still on then mate!
