MoT emissions
Took my car off for an MoT and it's failed on the emissions side of things. Namely the hydrocarbon, CO is fine sitting in at a nice 0.868. Anyone got any idea why my hydrocarbon would be so high? It's like 6410 and the max is 1200! :wack:

Pidgeon Mod
Wait until you get the goose honk on the recirc! It's sooo funny driving pass someone while having the Z making a goose honk all the way pass them! S13s dont have recirc at all and do not have any sort of dump valve as standard.

power steering solinoid
You sure you dont have a faulty speed delimiter chip? Assuming you have a Jap import that is. If you have and the dials have been changed to 180MPH instead of the 180KPH then just remove the chip. You'll be limited to 115MPH but it'll solve your problem.

Removal of Air Box the bit that holds the old Air Filter
Should have just yanked the whole thing out! Good thing too as if you leave the bottom 1/2 of the air box and plug up the Apexi, the nose panel actually hits the top of the Apexi, giving it a nice dent, small but it's a dent still!

Who can see what Father Christmas bought for me?
At least it was worth the wait! How much did that cost you if I dont mind me asking, I'm thinking of going the same route and dumping the c/f bonnet.

Opinions please, crystal or not ??
On a black car I would keep the smoked lenses. If it was a lighter colour... say WHITE like FunkSI, I would say crystal! :p

black plates
Go get yourself a 240Z or something! Then you can have black plates on a Z!

Need to remove standard air filter
Standard airfilter shouldnt be too hard to remove, you've prob missed a screw some where which is why they wont come out. That or you should give it a good yank as that's what I had to do!

changing spark plugs
Not that hard to do really. 1) Remove balance bar (be careful not to lose those O-rings) 2) Pull all the plugs off the ignition coil packs 3) Unscrew the two screws holding the ignition coil packs 4) Pull all the ignition coil packs out 5) Remove spark plugs using a 10mm spark plug thingy! Then just do the reverse to put it all back together...! All you really need is a 12mm and a 10mm spark plug.

Xenon
Oh yeah, that conversion. :wack: I found out that if you ground them else where, for me I used the battery, it does the same effect!

Fitting ballasts for H.I.D lights.
I dont think you'll be able to 'slide' them in and stick it from there. Also doesnt it depend on how big your ballasts are...! In any case the only way to know is to try! There is plenty of space there but I didnt put mine there cause I was lazy and couldnt be bothered to take the headlight apart for that. Maybe do it in the future.

Misfiring Part 4!
To replace an fuel injector? Blah, if you know what your doing, shouldnt take you no longer then 2 hours at most I say! Taking the plenum off is a 1/2hour job (if you know what your doing), after that it's just the bolts that hold the fuel rail and the bolts for the injector. Then replace everything back! This is coming from a guy who took almost 3 months to figure out how to take the plenum off. :wack: After which it's 1/2 hour job!

Xenon
Never really heard of such a thing. Personally I just grounded my HIDs to some other part of the car rather then using the plug ground. So what damage can happen and where did you come across this info?

Compression test results!
Put exactually the same as every other cylinder! A cap full! So, anyone? Looking at those figures, ok?!?

Compression test results!
Reading the attachment that zx racer posted, it seems that the pison rings needs sorting but the driver side is throwing up some weird results along side while wet testing it was throwing the oil I put in the cylinders out at me and all over the garage! Basically did a dry test and fine nothing blowing out of the other cylinders while testing. Then did a wet test, passenger side was fine with no oil blowing out that i just put in, while driver side was blowing oil out that I just put in from one of the other cylinders while testing for compression. That seriously can't be right!?

Compression test results!
Dry Driver side 150psi 160psi 162psi Passenger side 148psi 148psi 145psi Wet Driver side 218psi 215psi 218psi Passenger side 168psi 148psi 190psi I take it that when doing the test wet, that it shouldnt be throwing the oil back at you from one of the other cylinders...! Driver side that was. Guess something is gonna need changing, anyone got any ideas on how much that is gonna cost!? Maybe it'll be a good time to do a rebuild I think.

Compression test results!
I did it late yesterday night as I managed to grab a friend to help me out with it. I just forgot to depress the throttle all the way down. Will get it done again this coming weekend and make sure I get it done properly. I'm not sure about the one giving 170psi as I've did a search for a few other members test and notice a few of them have one reading higher then usual. Though there wasnt any reason why as of yet that would be the case. I've still need to do an oil change as I can hear a slight dinging noise that wasnt there before I did the water-by-pass.

Compression test results!
 As above! Little bit about what has happened, over heated, did a water by pass, dry compression test are as follows, top figure being back of engine closest to the cabinet. Forgot the full throttle bit though! :wack: Driver side 130psi 155psi 170psi Passenger side 155psi 155psi 135psi Opinion please! Take it that it isnt too bad but isnt that great either. The car does still feel a bit slower then before, so I guess the next thing to test for would be a vac leak?

Problems to expect once the Z has overheated
Right, my poor Zed over heated due to a little stupid water hose at the back of the engine dying on me. Anyway, I managed to get her back after 3-4 odd hours of just waiting around for her to cool down as I had no way of getting the Z towed back. Sorted out the problems and now the Z just doesnt seem to be as responsive or as fast as it should be. I have yet to do a compression test but that will happen during the weekend. So if anyone knows, what possible damage to the engine could have been done? Also, I've got this funny ticking noise coming from the engine bay when it's idle. What the hell is that about?!
