Diane, There is a warning system but we've just discovered that it isn't 100% reliable and nearly 180 people had not automatically been switched back to "Registered" at the end of their year. Obviously, this is unfair to the people who have paid as it turns out that a lot of people have had a free ride for up to a year or more ! Sorry to chop people off without individual warning, but I did post up yesterday (or was it the day before) giving an update on the situation and since then I've put about 4 hours work into identifying all the incorrectly categorised accounts.

Not at all, I'm fully in favour of doing it, I just don't want people to think it will solve all their problems instantly. We could probably get the basic forum software upgraded within a few days, however the webmail will break completely (not that it matters much) and the Rides section (and data) will disappear. In order to get the clever features that we need, spambot blocking, this supplier rating thing etc, additional work needs to be done -that is the harder bit. Migrating the Rides section to something else would take much more effort.

It won't make any difference. And updated forum s/w will make a trivial difference to most members. The biggest difference will be for the mods who may not have to remove 20 spambots a day.

For whatever reason the forum database of subscribed users has become somewhat out of synch with those members who have actually paid their subscriptions. This is largely an automatic process, certainly all the Paypal subscriptions are handled that way. I'm not really sure why this happens, all I know is that the forum thinks we have 619 subscribed accounts and we have only received payments from approx 442 members over the past 12 months. I say approx because having worked these figures out over two days there may be the odd anomaly with someone having paid 365/366 days ago etc and that in that list I haven't included Trader accounts. Given that, there are approx 180 accounts that need correcting, some of these will not have been used for some time, some are bound to be people reading this now ! Therefore, should your account change from "Subscribed" to "Registered" over the next couple of days then it is most likely that you are one of the ones affected (or it was due to your subscription expiring naturally). If you think it has been changed wrongly then post up here and I'll double check the accounts. If it is correct, then well done, you've been lucky and had a free ride ! ;) We would welcome you re-subscribing at your earliest convenience etc etc etc :D Please don't fill this thread with chatter, I want to make sure that we don't miss requests to cross-check accounts. Work out what your fuel consumption is (and mean accurately not *****x like 30 miles per £10). You may find out that something is wrong causing excessive consumption. You should expect 18mpg on a standard car driven sensibly. However, short journeys on cold mornings will give you somewhat less !
