So why do you want him back so badly ?
  2. Well actually no ... The Service Manual is located on this site (and one in Holland) but the whole lot is not downloadable - you have to view page by page. Some kins soul may do you a copy of the CD version though.

  4. Guess yours may be different but on every TT I've seen the screen washer bottle is on the OSF. And yes, you fill the rad through the cap, it is not the type of system that has a pressurised expansion tank.
  5. That water bottle to the right of the rad (assuming you're facing the front of the car) is an overflow tank and should not be filled up. It does have a dipstick though, just to confuse people ! ;)
  6. Try here for some of the well known books :- http://www.300zx.org.uk/z_books.htm Most are available through the Z Club http://www.zclub.net at decent prices.
  7. Bugger, must learn to type one day ! Maybe I should get the spelling checker working ......
  8. LOL - now I get abused when I make fun of this new fangled TXT spk - or poor English grammer as we used to call it ! ;)

There there several things I've learnt the hard way in my short and (in)distinguished travelling career :- Never have a curry before a long haul flight - this can be REALLY bad !! Never get lashed before a long haul flight - this is just plain misery ! Never get drunk on a long haul flight - you wake up halfway though with a miserable hangover Now all I have to remember to do is take notice of these !
  10. So did John Virgo and he got away with it too (although I was in the queue on the M4 behind his mess for about 2 hours) Didn't do Cozy Powell much good though did it !

Series II Jap cars also have 3 point inertia reel belts in the back.
  12. Yes, because the limiting is done in the ECU, counting the pulses from the speed sensor.
  13. The 4 speed automatic transmission is a lockup type. When in drive mode, gears change 1-2-3 then 3 lockup, giving the effect of 4 gears. When overdrive (4th) is switched in, the change goes 1-2-3-4 then 4 lockup, giving the effect of 5 forward gears. There is a communications link between the automatic transmission control computer and the engine management computer, and this amongst other things, allows the engine computer to retard ignition, thus momentarily reducing engine power, during auto gear changes. Auto gear changes therefore are very smooth. The automatic transmission fitted to the turbo model is stronger than the one installed in the non turbo. Although the gear ratios are almost identical, there are many minor differences between the two transmissions.
  14. The Japanese automatic transmission has many more features than the export models. A "power", "normal" and "hold" switch is fitted to modify transmission shift points. The effect of the "power" setting is to delay upshifting, but does not alter the maximum RPM that change occurs. In order to change at the red line or rev limiter speed, one must operate the shifter manually. The hold setting allows holding prevents downshift into second when the shifter is set to "D", and prevents downshift into first when the shifter is in "2". Another curious feature with the Japanese version is that lock up is also available in second gear. Can't remember where I nicked this ...

  16. Some further thoughts/observations. Your front has a larger surface area than your head. If you run you spend less time covering the same distance and so less rain would fall on your head. This is actually a simple time/area mathematical problem, think about the two extremes, ie dead slow/stop and covering the ground virtually instananeously - that should give you the answer.

Actually, what I neglected to say is that "running rough" almost certainly has naff all to do with det sensors, faulty or otherwise !
  18. "We'll sing our song, The bucket of water song ...." TISWAS, Sally James, jumpers for goalposts .... etc
  19. Actually this brings up a question about which I have often wondered but never sat down and worked out the real answer. SMW1 will be proud of this ! Assuming heavy vertical rain, would you get wetter by walking at normal speed and effectively only getting your head/shoulders wet, or by running through the rain and getting your front wet but less water on your head ? I have a theory but haven't explored the two extremes to prove it's validity.
  20. You're not actually throwing it vertically though are you. In relation to the (for the sake of argument, stationary) earth the fruit will follow a parabolic arc.
  21. Define time - from who's perspective ? This can be a very easy, or a very complicated question !

It's not an "engine out", but it is a "plenum off" job. It could just be faulty wiring ... These might be worth considering :- 980325 How someone... : diagnosed and bypassed a defective detonation sensor http://www.zhome.com/ZCMnL/PICS/detonationSensor/detonationSensor.html Detonation Sensor Relocation How-To http://www.angelfire.com/geek/vg30dett/DSR/DetSenRel01.html
  23. Well Sheerhan, as I said, stand up and speak your mind, somewhere you are held fully responsible, not someone else. "Publish and be dammed" etc, but you do the publishing ;) I'm not interested in quantifying the "risk" of this happening, we just want to mitigate it to mutual benefit. See Gio's recent post.
  24. I see a steady trickle of requests appearing - keep 'em coming and I'll do the lot at home tonight.
  25. Well you answered it yourself - yes there was a test case and it was partially successful, so I guess it was legit. As I said before this is not about freedom of speech, you can speak all you like, it's about who "publishes" the information. Remember slander is verbal, libel is written. If you want to libel (and I'm not suggesting that you are or should do!) someone then do it on MSN, email or your own website. When it's on this web site then it's Craig or Mike who will most likely get the first call, usually a cease and desist from the lawyers - we don't want that to happen (again!). Be sensible, be reasonable, be truthful and no one gets moderated.
