  1. Not sure that it would noticably affect performance, but the smoking can be associated with clogged PCV's. Well worth replacing them anyway, did mine at about 55,000m.
  2. Will depend on what's broken. Don't think synchros are too expensive if you catch them early, before additional damage is done. Bound to work out at a few hundred quid though - it's a Zed !
  3. Yes, I would be interested in a manual box, whether it's in perfect conditoin or needs a rebuild. Just looked on this site http://WWW.silverlakeautoparts.co.uk and if you select the auction pictures for the Mondeo ST24 you can see a UK spec blue Zed in the background !
  4. Just had a look at that and the comparison is on a Saxo. Obviously they will want to portray their products in the best light etc, and not taking anything away from that, but just because they made a great exhaust for a Saxo, doesn't mean the one for a Z will be equally impressive. Facts and Data etc ...
  5. Very happy with the Mongoose on mine, but as you're not that far away there is a place called Hayward and Scott (in Essex) who make up exhausts to order, so you can choose all the bits you want. Fully stainless etc. Sorry don't have the number right now, but I believe MJP and numerous other companies use their services.
  6. Can't you order one from http://www.courtesyparts.com ? I'm sure the shipping to Norway can't be that much different to the UK. Also you could try asking the Maceij, the guy who runs this web site :-www.z-car.net he's a bit closer to you and I know he orders stuff from the US.
  7. If you've got away with that then you are very, very lucky. I wouldn't tread on any cracks in the pavement for a while if I were you !

Prevention is the best cure. Get a safe and use it !
  9. Blimey, some people are impossible to please. You have an auto car and deep down you so badly want it to be manual that you're now fitting parts from a manual ! LOL :D
  10. True - but if you're at the mercy of Nissan's distribution network, then it will affect everyone the same. At least with Mike you know that you'll get the correct parts !

Some fabtastic pictures Waz, especially the glow in the dark brake disks. Who fitted the rear wheels to the Dome sponsored Zed ? LOL
  12. With standard tyres -245/45ZR16 on 8.5J X 16 rims, the manual twin turbo (final drive ratio 3.69:1) the turbo achieves the following speeds: Gear MPH RPM 1st 43 7200 2nd 72 7200 3rd 107 7200 4th 139 7200 5th 155 6000 with speed limiter 5th 165 6400 without speed limiter 5th 186 7200 intermittent theoretical, rev limited The automatic ratios are: 1st 2.78, 2nd 1.54, 3rd 1.00, 4th 0.69, so results for the turbo are :- (Maximum, as actual speeds will depend on torque converter slip): Gear MPH RPM 1st 48 7200 Held in first 2nd 87 7200 Held in second 3rd 139 7200 Held in 3rd, overdrive off 4th 155 5500 with speed limiter 4th 178 6400 without speed limiter, not attainable by stock TT 4th 201 7200 intermittent theoretical, rev limited
  13. I'd start with Mike Feeney. I don't think he gets any significant discount on these parts, but I rather see him stay in business than your local Nelson ! Plus he provides a very fast service AND actually knows what he's talking about !
  14. In theory they should work with any head unit that has an aux input.
  15. I have an mStation, use it in place of an autochanger. Only has a 10GB drive but that will hold up to about 2500 tracks and you can fit a larger drive (if you have more tracks ripped).
  16. This was my list of parts :- Gearbox Gear lever New leather gear lever boot Master cylinder Slave cylinder All hydraulic pipework Pedal box Flywheel Pressure plate Clutch disk Throw out bearing Front half of the propshaft The plate that sits between engine & gearbox Wiring loom for the reverse & neutral gearbox switches Both clutch servo vacumn tanks + pipework I would also recommend replacing all the cheap rubber bits like dust seals and so on, plus the gear shift bush and the gearbox rear mount, prop centre bearing, plus get the gearbox overhauled before you fit it (unless you have already driven the car with the replacement manual gearbox and know it's a good'un) As for sourcing the parts you may get lucky here or you could try some of the Zed breakers in the UK :- http://www.300zx.org.uk/breakers.htm

My understanding was that the manual chip has an extra map for top gear, maybe it's just that it isn't used in the auto chip .... will have to do some more research.
  18. Steven Wright ?
  19. Makes no difference to mine, even when the battery was almost totally dead it would start on about half a rotation of the engine.
  20. Someone here had one, between £10-20K at the time I think. Look a bit wierd and only LHD IIRC.
  21. Pretty easy.
  22. ... and buy some goodies from TWR .... http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/?news/ae_news_story.php?id=37322
  23. Wouldn't have thought it would be too difficult. Glove box and tailgate would be very easy, might be a little struggle to get to the doors though - depends on whether bits of the window mechanism are in the way. Might help :- http://www.ttzd.com/tech/doorhandletech.html
  24. Actually it may be a moot point, because I can't find the option in this forum s/w ......
