Guest rodger p
Tomorrow, (6/5/03) I get to finally take delivery of my Fairlady import 300ZX n/a! It's gonna be a shock...... I've been driving a Range Rover for the last three years! So - help please! Do I have to feed her the higher octane (97?) unleaded that you sometimes see? Where can I get a handbook? What are the service intervals? Do the targa panels just sit in the boot when removed? What's the best oil to use? tyre pressures? Is there a good book on the car I can buy? I'm a sponge - soak me with info!!!!! :)
splashout
Do I have to feed her the higher octane (97?) unleaded that you sometimes see? Depends i generally run mine on optimax but when have just been pottering around town have used normal unleaded without any problems Where can I get a handbook? The Zcenter do these heres a link http://www.zcentre.co.uk/others/others.shtml Do the targa panels just sit in the boot when removed? You may or may not get the targa bags (i did) the panels just sit in these bags then in the boot ontop of each other but in oposite directions and you may or may not also get the straps that you then tighten down on them to hold them in place What's the best oil to use? Been loads of discussion on this lately do a search but it seems most peoples opinions is any top name will do about 15/50 or there abouts tyre pressures? I use 33 front 36 rear (im on stock rims) Is there a good book on the car I can buy? Cant help ya on that one bud but im sure someone will!! Guest x-biker
Hi! Hope you're happy with the Z when you get it! 1. Use Optimax in a Jap import, it's closest to the RON rating they use in Jap pumps. 2. There is a service manual download on here and on a few other of the BIG zx sites 3. Look in the downloaded book for service intervals, but change the oil every 3-4K miles (and change the filter too!) 4. Yup, the targas go in the boot. There are straps in there to secure them. 5. Best oil to use is synthetic. Don't ask for brand names as it'll get ugly. If you use the top line Mobil, Shell or Castrol you can't go wrong. 6. Tyre pressures depend on what wheels/tyres you have fitted. If it's standard then the info will be on a sticker on the bodywork by the divers side (next to your elbow) I've got 235/45x17 front and 255/40x17 on rear and I have no problems with wear rate on 34psi front and 38psi rear (no more wear than you would expect on a 300bhp rwd car anyway! ) 7. Good book on 300zx's? What for the coffee table? No idea bud. My mate drives Range Rovers for a living, I let him drive mine the other week (300ZXTT) and he came back a bit white and shakey. He loved it though. Remember that you can almost see UNDER Range Rovers in you new car. ENJOY!!!:D

Guest 300z
Its an NA lol no need to use Optimax at all. it should run fine on any of the fuels. service intervals around 3000-5000 miles is a safe bet every time. Oils - well they are pretty muhc of a much ness TBH, and if your going ot be changing oil in 3000 mile intervals i doubt it matters what oil you use. there are books out there, som legit ones are very very pricey, you can get the online CD manule. sure someone will burn a copy for you and send itin the post (i need one come to think of it lol)

Glyn UK 300ZX have wider tyres on the rear of the car hence the difference in pressures. However I think Japanese imports have the same rims all round. 225/50/16. I think they all run at 33psi. There will be a sticker under the lid of the central arm rest. It tells you the pressures there. Stuart

davidp
I got a handbook for my car from Mike Feeney 01277-374201 If you go the the Z Club of GB site http://www.zclub.net and go to the club shop, there are some books on Zs. The z club is also worth joining. There is one good book if you are interested in the heritage of the Z called Mr K, which is about the man who thought of the Z and fought to make it happen. Good Luck with the Z.
