  1. Just so you know what we're up against :) Andre Guysler will probably do a sub 10 second mile before his car breaks. He won't manage to make the handling or the top speed but his quarter will probably still be over 140 mph! Mark Flook is running in time attack and hasn't quite got his car sorted but he won't give up and he will be a force to be reckoned with. Bit of an unknown but he will be competitive. Steve Lawtey was in track attack last year but is taking some time out. A good car and a super fast driver I reckon he's the one to beat but like me not a lot of seat time this year. If Ben Hartley (Eurospec boss) enters he'll be quick too but I reckon he'll be too busy looking after his teams cars to even get close to getting his car ready. All the above are Eurospec team cars and while I don't know much about the rest of their team I'm sure they'll be just like us, a little bit nervous, worried they haven't got enough power, and desperate not to get beat by rear wheel drive lol. So we'll be up against it. But those GTO's are too ugly to finish in front of us we just can't let it happen :) I'm excited!!!!!!!
  2. Could do with your experience and your car Noel :) Yours too :) we're gonna be up against it but I reckon it will be a lot of fun :)
  3. Maybe some of the club traders should compete to advertise your products :)
  4. I don't want to make any assumptions about whose going to join the team and so far it looks like the team is the following: Bobgenie Paulzx Slickpete Iangreenfield Tomfromthenorth Dicky96 So we've got a team which is excellent news :) definitely could do with a few more and we can actually field a team of ten cars. Now that would be good! I am going to kip at Pete's on Friday night and will be getting there early Saturday morning to set up a decent team area. It would be great if anyone can help with this but not essential. Depending on the amount of cars will need to firm this up over the coming weeks. Of course non-competitors are absolutely welcome so need those names too so I can bag enough space. Let me know whose camping etc. We could do with some of the club banners and any other paraphernalia that would help the cause but I will try and bring whatever fits in my truck. Moneywise I usually pay early but I'm talking to Dave and reckon we can pay for the whole team first week in July to ensure no problems. We can sort out these details during the next few weeks. I know Pete is going to attend a few drags over the next few weeks and hopefully as my car progresses (fingers crossed) I will too and if anyone else has any plans let us know so we have the opportunity to get together for some practice early. Keep us updated on this thread please.
  5. My car is still on the ramps so not quite what they will look like but these are 295.30.18 wheels are 10.5 with +11 offset. Going to be just about right methinks :)
  6. Size wise this is by far the best tool I've ever seen :) http://www.carbibles.com/tyre_size_calculators.html
  7. I'm putting 295 on my 10.5 wheels which I believe is the optimum width for performance. I have 265 on my 9.5 wheels and 235 on my 8.5 wheels for the same reason. Without testing (happening soon hopefully) it's hard to know the best setup but it's absolutely correct that it's harder to get the heat into wider tyres and with too much tyre it may never reach optimum temperatures for performance. In normal driving it probably doesn't matter too much but it's a simple fact. You can of course introduce camber etc to help get heat into the tyres but while that makes sense on the track it's a pretty expensive method on the road. I'm going to try the 295 on the rear and 265 on the front but then again I've hoping to have over 800 horses to heat them up :) I might have to drop the fronts to 235 but testing will tell me the way forward. Personally for the road I can't see past 265 rear and 235 front :)
  8. I can only see the forum for registered members the rest is closed to me :)
  9. Well it says I'm still subscribed but I can't see the usual parts of the forum. I guess a little glitch :)
  10. Hi guys I resubscribed a few weeks ago via paypal and it's now showing registered only??
  11. It wasn't so bad at the venue but the weather was pretty poor driving there. The M4 was bad and TBH I don't blame people for not taking the chance. Lot of 300s would struggle with pop chargers etc and I admit I was a little worried myself on the way. Thanks Steve for taking the trouble to organise it mate. I used to run a motorbike trials club and it's a thankless task sometimes but I used to get a kick out of setting some really difficult sections lol.
  12. Thanks Gary yes I guess we better close won't be so interesting now :-)
  13. As a race car it is flawed however as a fast road car it's possibly better then the slicktop. Not only that I think it performed pretty well against other more focused cars on the track :)
  14. Guys and I enjoyed driving the car so much over the weekend I've decided to keep it. I've just sold my bike and have someone on the Jeep so will have plenty of space to keep it. There wasn't a great deal of interest really and as a few people said it would be a shame to break now it's sorted. It means I still have the spare engine but it's not sat on a shelf somewhere but being used as it should. It was an interesting thread while it lasted :)
  15. I was there in the 2+2 as Pete said. Had a decent run on track in the first session and was very pleased with the cars behaviour considering how heavy it is and in full street trim. In fact it behaved so well on the drive home too I've decided not to break it :) So I didn't have loads of fuel and didn't go out on the second session and sat in with Pete see how his car went. This was useful as it taught us how poor the federal trackday tyres were in cold and wet but Pete soon got the hang of it. For the final session we decided to take Pete's car out rather than mine to try and better understand the suspension. I drove but unfortunately it was wet so couldn't push too hard with those tyres but we did have a lot of fun locking the brakes and spinning up and again found out some good info for setup come TOTB. Yes it was a long queue and yes it was wet but all in all a pretty good day and a big up to all those who made it.
  16. No way a 600 is pretty quick and it's a natural progression. Have fun and enjoy it. The very best way to find the limits of you and your bike is to do a couple of trackdays and Brands isn't so far from you is it?
  17. Great news guys looks like I'll be busy Saturday too :) we always watch some of the other teams with envy as they have a good thing going on but it looks like we'll be up there too this year. I better bring the barbecue and I'll have to talk Pete into coming Saturday as well :)
  18. Tickets are £100 gotta be the best deal in the country :-) try and make Saturday night we will be having a few beers and winding up the GTO boys :-)
  19. Does this mean you're joining to team? All help is appreciated Top man but the £100 gives you Saturday as well if you want it. Sure once Noz does his stuff it will be epic. I did my first ever three years ago and loved it. Sure the whole event will be even more exciting as a proper team. Yes GTO is Sunday with a limited Saturday option. I would rather join as a team and I am happy to pay TOTB the full amount and get the money back off you guys (not too late though) I was starting to worry just me against the GTO team feeling a bit better now lol
  20. Why should you get flamed its a Fireblade doesn't get much better than that.
  21. Not really you could have gone for much lighter wheels than that!
