  1. hey Osty, i think im gonna get my local mechanic to do it, hes a zed specialist and used to work on them for many years operating from the 'Zen Garage' in Lincolnshire, goes by the name of Martyn, if you ever need a Z specialist, let me know and i will pass you his number, he replaced my engine and turbos, and set up my boost controller in the Summer, excellent work. he also does jobs for Andy Z the 300zx breaker just outside Theford. Hope you well tho mate, was good meeting you at Snetterton. hope to see you again once the weather improves, and i apprecaite your offering. happy crimbo to you too bud.
  2. no the fan doesnt cut in, but it doesnt even with the wire disconnected so i think thats a seperate issue.
  3. is it strange that when i disconnect the wire the revs decrease?
  4. Can you please tell me where to get a new heater matrix please, i understand that there is a cheaper Primera option, but can someone who has bought and fitted one, or know of anyone that has, tell me where to get it from please.
  5. ive earthed the sensor wire onto main pipe and the gauge still reads nothing, however if i earth it to the copper part of the connector it reads over max. does this indicate the sensor is good or bad?
  6. Having some overheating issues, but the electric fan never cuts in, when it gets hot. with the engine running, i have disconnected the sensor wire at the front on the top pipe, but the electric fan still doesnt cut in, any ideas on how to get it working, or why its not cutting in?
  7. none on here that i know of, but i know theyve been done in the past, guy on driftworks CHUCK' has one with the skyline motor in it. i think he has 3 actually.
  8. thanks, will check both tomorow, apprecaite all your help fellaz. happy xmas wishes to you all. Aaron.
  9. ive had 20 inch on mine, ( tested) not kept. but with super low profile tyres. fit under both arches fine. currently on 19s with 285/ 35 on the rear and lowered on coilvers without issues, they can however rub if not set at a correct height.
  10. and ideas why the fan doesnt come on?
  11. manta V8 how do i do that? do you mean earth the wire? or earth the sensor unit? and pardon my poor knowledge and this may get a laugh, but how do i 'earth' it?
  12. what i mean its the plug that goes onto the sensor, is fine, as is the actual sensor, for clarification i mean these two. http://www.zcentre.co.uk/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.pbv.tpl&product_id=88&category_id=67&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=7 and http://www.zcentre.co.uk/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.pbv.tpl&product_id=102&category_id=67&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=7 both of these are fine and in good condition.
  13. no groover, but all of that work was done in October, and ive used the car daily since. the plug and sensor are in near perfect condition with no corrosion... does it sound like maybe a water pump issue? but without it leaking ive no idea how to tell..
  14. viscous fan and coupling as well as the entire unit were also repalced with the radiator and thermostat.....
  15. on a side note, once the car just overheated (according to the gauge) i popped the bonnet, (no steam) unplugged the water temp sensor, then plugged it back in, looked a t the gauge and it showed normal temp.... now is this becuase id unplugged it and it gave a corrupt reading, or may the gauge be faulty and giving irratic results.
  16. Looking for more help please, my car seems to intermittently on the gauge show its overheating, but within a few seconds can quickly drop back to normal temperature and sometimes, if i pull over it will drop to cold start position, but then quickly rise up again. the electric fan however never cuts in even if the gauge shows the car is on the red line of overheating, there are no water leaks, both sides of the radiator are warm, and the thermostat and radiator have been replaced in the last few weeks.. also if left stationary once warm, the temp gauge will slowly drop and show closer to the 1/4 mark in stead of remaining in the middle, and sometimes less.. any ideas.... is the car actually overheating, or may i be experiencing some other electircal fault. i know it hard to say online, but just a long shot into some possible insight.
  17. very helpful z32bolt, anymore useful tips!
  18. happy new year, and merry xmas to you all, my Z is being used throughout the winter, bought some winter tyres from camskills, so have no excuse not to use it, (get some on fellas) and dont shy those Z's away in the winter, they're actually great tyres in the snow and cold conditions. highly recommend them. Aaron.
  19. lets see them then gents, i bet mines sexier than yours :-)
  20. shame was hpoing for a chrome dipping service somewhere, i really cant be assed to polish it for 40 hours.
  21. Seen a few on here and look nice (ANDYISHERWOODS) for example, where do you get these done? and how much. would like one done in January if you have contacts. thanks in advance.
  22. doubt it will but good luck. let us know.
  23. in basic overview, i dont think we actually care what the MPG figure is, its more the range you can do to a tank of fuel thats the concern. under 200 is bad, when most get 300+. the thread should be titled 'how far on a tank of fuel' :-) Then i think others can apprecaite our concern, and for us using the Z as daily drivers (as they should be) it does become annoying.
  24. also how did you know it was faulty?
