  1. Thanks, I will be happy if its only the head, still dont undertand why it will not start....
  2. :headvswal My other half has been out in the Z today (1994 TT 40,000miles). Car has never missed a beat in the 18 months since I imported it. Yesterday had the standard exhaust changed to cat back mongoose system to go with the Apexi air filter that has been on for 2 months. No other mods made.(I assume the engine problem today is a coincidence?) To get to the point all I know is that she was driving the car home tonight on the M6, and apparently there was white smoke coming from the engine and from the exhaust, she says she did not notice it straight away (how does she know that?). Also she says the temperature gauge was at max. She says she was pulling over on the hard shoulder when the car stopped, I assume not a good sign. I called the RAC and swapped places with her, a long 1.5 hours later they appeared to bring the car home. I have carefully measured water into the radiator (12 pints!), so empty I assume? tried to start it turns over but it is clear its no going to start, not a sign of it firing. I have arranged for it to go to a friends garage tomorrow, they have an excellent mechanical workshop but I doubt they have worked on Zeds. So what I need to know is what I need to do with the engine. I assume the head gasket has blown? What is stopping it from starting? What else is likely to be damaged? Also what else do you suggest I do when the engine is out? I cannot really think straight at the moment, 2 hours at the side of the M6 is enough to give anyone a headache. Any advice will be gratefully received........
  3. easy and undetectable, salt will kill it
  4. for what I have seen they never ssm to sell. You will be lucky to get £100 for them. I have a sape set and have never even bothered to try and sell them for that reason.
  5. Fuel filler restricter is to stop leaded petrol as the nozzle is thicker. It is not an MOT requirement but an SVA requirement
  6. Sorry to hear that.......... First of all make sure that you tell your insurance that you were undertaking a journey that is covered on your policy. Get someone to give you a "non insurance" quote for repair so that you are in a position to negotiate with the insurance if they want to scrap it and you want to buy it back.
  7. The splash guard is in place below the filter but none above and the panel between the headlights is vented, is there anything I can spray on to keep the water out? Waterproofer? I assume the missfire goes away as the wind drys it out.....
  8. I have a 1994 TT Auto with Apexi filter otherwise its stock. When the car is parked at home it is in quite an exposed position for the wind etc. On a number of occasions when there has been heavy rain overnight, when i drive the care it has a missfire. It clears after about 10 miles. And I have never had the problem unless it has rained overnight. My question is has anyone else had this problem? I cannot figure out where it could possibly be getting wet to give this problem and why it always clears after 10-15 minites... Thanks for any advice...

I also have a trader policy, I think you may struggle with claiming the mods, but good luck!

  11. Yes I have an apexi filter, its been fitted a couple of months. Is this something to do with it?
  12. Never had any problem with the car it is a M reg TT Auto with only 38k. But this mornng after a night of heavy rain and wind, when I drove the car at approx 60mph it beganchanging up and down gear continuously in a very jerky way, it did the same on kickdown, but did not do it all of the time. About 6 times in my 20ml journey. Could not tell if engine was misfiring due to jerking from up & down gear change. Drove home tonight and nothing! Anyone any ideas? Would like to know in case there is a major problem somewhere.... Thanks

  16. There are normally a few convertibles about in Japanese auctions, on average 2 per week. But they make twice as much as a same year TT.
  17. Even if the car is for free it will still cost £1500 to get it to the UK. Thats Japanese transport, shipping, Uk transport, duty & Vat

what are you looking to import?
  21. PS if its a 300zx there are approx 100 auctioned each week.
  22. Where are you looking at the cars? I assume on a Japanese web site? Having purchased well over 100 cars from Japan, the best way to purchase is direct from the Japanese auctions. There are 90,000 vehicles auctioned each week that can be purchased. Therefore a vast choice for every make and model. What were you looking at?
  23. Yes I agree Limewire is best
