  1. Not sure how much oil I will ask Steve if he knows
  2. Engine was apparently showing up to temp. They left it running for 20 minutes before test. Any more ideas on why the dry and wet would be the same?
  3. Steve was helping him do the test by turning the engine over, the garage apparently said it was a new gauge, so I assume should be OK. Just phoned him again for more details. Just turned the engine over 3 times or so and did not press the throttle at all, both I understand are wrong. He is planning to go back again tomorrow evening, the garage are then doing all 6, something to do with it taking too long to to the back two today (apparenly they are harder to get to?) So he needs to turn the engine over longer and press the throttle? any more ideas on why the dry and wet would be the same? Could it be that the low reading is false because the test is not done correctly and the engine is in such good condition that the wet test is the same?
  4. A friend of mine, Steve from Manchester has been looking to purchase a 300ZX and from what I have read on the site in the past, when he asked my advice, I told him to have a compression test done before parting with his money. Anyway he has been to the garage today and he watched them as they did a dry test on the front 4 cylinders that were easy to get to, all figures were almost identical at just over 130. He phoned me up and I did a quick search on the forum which suggested the figures were a bit low. So I told him he needed a wet test (with oil). They did this and the figures were unchanged. This is totally beyong my knowledge, I assumed that if oil was added the figure would go up? Also on just speaking to him I gather the throttle bodies were not held open. Would that make any difference? Apparently the engine runs really well and is at 63,000km Any advise will be gratefully received so I can let him know if you guys think it is a problem of not.
  5. Most PCs have Microsoft Photo Editor installed, START:ALL PROGRAMMES: MICROSOFT OFFICE TOOLS. If its there, just open the image, click image, click resize, and change to size you want. Make sure you save as a jpg file
  6. A dilema for me I have both, a 300ZX TT and a Facelift GTO TT 6 speed
  7. OK the clue was in the fact that it was costing me £950. To update things, I have received an offer of £750 for the who lot, as I previously said, I am open to offers before the end of the week. So yes thanks for your offer of £250.
  8. I assume this is a joke? It sounds like the sum of money you might buy a few of the bits with, maybe pedals and prop, but certainly not a full conversion kit from a low mileage 1994 car. Good luck with your search.........................
  9. Yes they are the original seats and what you suggest is what I was originally going to do. My reason for changing is quite simple, the seats are great support and are comfortable for an hour or two. But I must agree with my passengers Whan I have travelled for over 3 hours then you are begining to think you wish the had more padding. Also there is not much you can do with them without spoiling them e.g. leather. So I have taken the plunge, bought a set of black cloth from a 1994 MK3 with both electric front seats and am going to get them retrimmed in black and grey, the car is silver. I am now inclined to sell as I now realise their value and I have a loft full of stuff I am saving, some from cars I sold over 10 years ago! I will post up some pictures wihin the next week and will be open to offers. I already have some offers but want o sort out pictures first so there is no question as to which seats they are. Probably too late to keep car original as I have added a 99spec bumper and smoothed out the stone chip.
  10. Had an offer of £400 for them so far.
  11. Assuming I do not go ahead I am open to offers for the full kit (that is everything you would possibly need). Will make a decision by the end of the week, but looks like I am likely to sell. Will sell to the the best offer received by then.
  12. I have bought all the kit from a low mileage 1994 to do a manual conversion and even got a garage in Stoke-on-Trent lined up to do it. All in I thought it was quite reasonable at £950 fitted. Now the problem, my other half, who has taken to driving it recently, as I have sold her Volvo T5 Convertible, says she does not want it manual! She likes the auto. Now not sure if I should go on ahead (and never hear the last of it) or sell the kit on, or possibly the whole job on (if someone is fairly near Stoke-on-Trent) Is there generally a demand for the kit if I ended up reselling?
  13. I have just bought a 58k engine from a 1994 TT Auto that has just been imported from Japan cost me £750. My own engine which was run without water is being pulled apart next week. If it turns out my engine is OK I will be selling it on. (engine in currently in the doner car so have heard it running and done compression tests etc. If it may be of interest let me know. I will let you know if my engine has just done the head gasket, in which case I will repair. Or if it has destroyed my engine I will use it myself.
  14. So I should be asking something like £400+ for front and back? That does not sound too bad.......
  15. So how much is that? I have now purchased some MK3 seats (twin electric) to recover in leather. My original idea was to keep the Recaro's and put them back in if and when I sell it in the future. Then to sell my newly covered seats. But if I can get a fair bit for the recaros it may be better to sell them now?
  16. Not sure if I should sell my own seats or not? I assume they would be worth quite a bit as they are very lightweight and quite rare. Also being mainly black would match any other car. What do you think they are worth?
  17. I have just sent the £20 subscription via paypal. User name RONFLAT My Name Kevin Gallimore Not sure if you will have my address for membership pack. How soon will I have full membership rights?
  18. I have a 1995 mark 4 TT with black light weight recaro seats. I think they are from a later model car. I was thinking of buying an old set (1991) electric, and getting them recovered in leather as mine are OK fo an hours drive but after 3 hours or so are a bit uncomfortable (so my other half tells me). Are the 1990 seats the same shape and design as later models or did they change? Don't want to buy old ones to recover if newer ones are a better design. Also can you get an electric passenger seat or use 2 drivers seats ?
  19. I am assuming I will be lucky to get away with heads that are still any good. Anyone know who is selling good heads?
  20. How long does it take to remove it? I gather as it is an auto the box also has to be removed separately?
  21. Thanks for the links, pity it does not show how to disassemble it but it does show it can be done. Makes me wonder how long it would take to take the head off in situ vs taking the engine out? Does anyone know of any times for these jobs? Thanks........
  22. Further to my post regarding engine blow up on M6 (ran with no water until stopped). There is No compression at all on any cylinder, my question is can the heads be removed with the engine in situ or does the engine have to be removed? If it can be done in situ are there any instructions? Also if needed do you know of any good cylinder heads at a good price? Thanks......................
