  1. I run Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2's on my zed, best tyre I have ever used. I ran the Eagle F1 GSD3's on my 205GTi & Honda Prelude (both FWD) a few years back and again were excellent but do wear quickly being a softer compound. I don't use my zed as a daily driver so this isn't an issue, but I assume the Asymmetrics would wear fairly quickly under everyday use. P-Zero's I use on my BMW mainly as they are one of 2 runflats I can use and they are an excellent tyre, much better than the Bridgestone Potenzas which were on the car before. P-Zero's have long been a tyre of choice for performance cars but I find the Eagles have more grip in the wet (they just don't seem to aquaplane at all!!!) although the zx stays off the roads in the wet now. Another tyre my friend swears by is the Continental/Uniroyal Rainsport, may be worth a look.
  2. You lucky bugger £300!!! One of these is on my list for sure!!
  3. Looks brilliant, a garage is on the list for my house move next year, but guaranteed they will be a standard size. Would love one with that much space!!
  4. I didnt think the Carbing strut brace fitted with the OEM throttle cover, did you have to make any modifications? Engine bay looks sweet!!
  5. Hahaha yep, I meant boost controller!!! May have plumbed it back in wrong when we fitted the engine so will have a look when I'm off work next week. Speaking of turbo timers the car did have one which I removed the other week, so that will be for sale if anyone wants one...
  6. Hahaha yep, going insane, the boost controller is the issue!!!
  7. Finally got my Zed back on the road!! Just in time for the show season..... wait a minute.... :confused1: Washed and insured it today Had Nistune set up on rolling road and getting 409.9 bhp. The Turbo Timer wasn't working properly so he had to back off towards where full boost would be, but said it should be around 450 once I get that sorted. Looks shiny on the pics but got some tree sap and a few swirls from when it was stored at a mates garage, Will do a proper valet and remove the sap and get some coats of wax on ready for the winter (although won't drive it much as its a second car). It's getting closer to needing a respray anyway. Also rear arch starting to rust and bonding where the replica spoiler is fitted is peeling so thats going to be collecting rust soon so need to work out how to sort that if i'm not going for a full respray yet (when I get it resprayed I wanted to replace most trim at the same time if possible, have the usual worn door window strips etc.)
  8. Still need to get my replica cut, I got it from USA on eBay a couple of years ago. I like the red 300zx logo on yours. What was the place called who cut it, I had the same excuses "it will bugger up our machine" etc etc. although one place has said they will attempt it.
  9. Thanks for the advice guys, this is the first time I have taken a car to a main dealer for work and this happens.... I'll keep at them and will get a letter together, but won't be turning the place into a Royal Rumble!!
  10. Cheers for the pics! Love it when you get a random selection of cars together like this makes for an interesting gathering. Try to get to a few around Nottingham during the year, mainly the meets at Griffins head Papplewick Nottm
  11. I booked my BMW in at Sytner in Nottingham for a full service and they told me the car was covered under the timing chain recall, so that work could be completed at the same time. This was potentially up to a 3 stage process, which mine needed the full work completing (tensioner, upper chain, lower chain) the latter which needs the engine removing from the car. I picked up the car after the work was complete, to find this deep scratch on the font bumper (I had checked the car over in the car park when I dropped it off for the work to be done and it definately wasn't there before) I was obviosly angry and brought this up with the guy who was dealing with me, who advised he will speak with his manager and got the manager of the paint department to assess the damage (I then took photos whilst the car is in their car park. On the way home I received a call asking for me to send the photos in which I took by email which I did when I got home. The next day I received a call from the person I was dealing with who advised he has spoken to his manager and that they are not responsible for the damage.... I told him the damage was not on the car when I left it in there hands, he advised the damage was noted on the pre-work diagram of the car by the workshop. Immediately I asked is this form held by the workshop until the works complete or is it handed in to the admin before work starts to which he stumbled and said yet its handfed in before work commences.... I told him the damage occurred whilst on site, whether by the workshop, in the carpark or moving the car to be worked on and demanded to speak to him manager, who was in a meeting of course!! He said the manager will ring me on monday.... I asked for a copy of all documents they hold on my car to be sent to my address as well as cctv footage to be checked The other strange thing is I was told the car hadnt been washed after the work was done and when I collected the car a valeter came and stood next to the person dealing with me and was talking quietly all I made out was something like "is this the car"... My honest opinion is due to the direction of the scratch and how deep it is, it was done whilst the engine was being removed, as it looks like something heavy has been dragged down the paint to me (rather than being damaged by moving the car). My issue is obviously the manager will ring me Monday and deny all responsibility of it. Obviously I have no photographic proof from when I dropped the car off that the scratch wasn't there. Has anyone had anything like this happen before?
  12. Yeah sorted now cheers matey, stick them on the classifieds as they should sell quick at that price
  13. No seems a previous owner has fitted non oem extended studs. Car was on ramp at mates garage so didn't have time to order new studs and one thread is fouled badly at the bottom, so cutting those down wasn't an option unfortunately
  14. Right I got the eibach spacers, got them home to find it the studs are a different thread to the ones fitted to my hub!!! Pressed the studs out of the eibach ones and just using them like normal spacers. At least it's a step up from the tin foil old ones Cheers for the help everyone, another step closer to being back on the road!!!!
  15. I love the wheels Si, don't think I'll ever change them! The only issue I think I'll have with the Eibach spacers is I'm sure the current studs have been replace with longer ones, leaving me with 25mm thread protruding (with the existing spacers fitted). Roadrunner have got a set in so I can drive down and have a look but would there be any way around this if they are too short, apart from going down the traditional slide on spacer route?

+1 for the Profec, You can get a new one for under £200 if you keep an eye out. 2nd Hand ones seem to go around £100-120 last time I looked (mine is silver and keep debating whether to get a black one to match my interior better, sad I know!!!)
  17. Hi, I was removing one of the front wheel spacers that are on my car so I could remove the discs and a nice chunk decided to break away (seem to be cheap alu ones)... I would like to replace them with some of a higher quality but am unsure of fitment. Current setup is: -Advan Siena II Wheels (18x245x35 Tyres) -K-Sport 8 pot Kit (330mm discs I believe) -20mm Spacers (made from chocolate aluminium, hubcentric slot over type) I am unsure what type I would need. Not sure if the hubs have standard studs, possibly the studs are elongated type? If anyone knows the standard length that would help. I have seen these Eibach ones on eBay, I believe the 350z has the same specs as the 300zx but not sure about the bolt on type. Should these fit a standard stud and flush fit with the provided nuts? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Eibach-20mm-Pro-Spacer-Hub-Centric-Kit-350Z-Z33-S90-4-20-003-/321871804536?hash=item4af10df878 Cheers, Adam
  18. Great job, do like your zed. Didnt get to see it at Japfest but looks great from Garys pics. It can be quite theraputic and of course you will get the "why do you spend that long on the car, I just wash it and I'm done in an hour" comments from neigbours etc, but its something you only needs to do 2-3 times a year.... The rest of the time you just wash it and it looks like its been waxed everytime!! What products have you used?
  19. Cheers guys, I will attempt to reglue the dash as a temporary measure untill I have a retrim. Won't look great but will look better than having a random bit of metal stuck on the dash!! (I hope )
  20. Just planning a new alarm install and was wondering which alarms people have and where you have located the LED's & Valet switches etc. as I want to avoid cutting into dash panels if possible. Looking at a Clifford 650 or a classic Toad Ai606, but wondered if Cobra alarms are any good? Also thinking of moving my fog switch when I eventually get the interior retrimmed but where to...? (Its currently on the panel next to the gearstick, below the clock) I understand it has to be visible to pass the MOT
  21. Spent the past couple of days doing the following: -Replacing door lock cams with metal versions -Fitted space connectors to front speaker wiring, as the wires were just twist fitted - wondered why the left speaker was working intermittently when it was last on the road.... -Removed turbo timer -Fitted uprated rear hatch struts -Refitted stereo and ran 3.5mm aux cable to the arm rest storage (Alpine stereo with the rear aux connector) -Connected Nistune and checked basic connectivity with Consult cable & Nistune software ready for base tuning, rolling road session booked for 30th September
  22. Actually, seems the dash vinyl has shrunk and that was maybe holding it in place....
  23. My dashboard was poorly fitted back together by a previous owner. The dash hasn't been fitted under the top windscreen vents properly, and this strange piece of metal was stuck on top....
  24. Anyone know what time the gates open on Sunday? I'll be there but not in the zed...
