  1. R.I.P. Barry My thoughts are with the family and friends at this difficult time
  2. Mark, did you say somewhere on another post that you know someone who's selling a good engine?
  3. I tried it with oil and it went up to 100psi so definately piston related I think I'll be going down the route of building up a replacement, hopefully I can find a known good one at some point. It would be rude not to add bigger turbos at the same time too
  4. Yeah it's what I suspected so that will be on the cards for later in the year. Debating whether to get another engine and build that up or build mine. Assuming it is just piston ring, my engine is good on all other pistons but i suppose driving it on a bad piston ring cant have been doing the engine much good?
  5. Well the smoking slowed off which I thought was due to warm weather but then the misfire came back. Checked the plug and it was wet with oil. Did compression test and these are the results- 5- 165..... 6- 160...... 3- 170..... 4- 040...... 1- 170..... 2- 165..... Cylinder 4 (I assume I've written them out right) is extremely low so assuming piston ring on that cylinder (that is the one with the oil on the plug)
  6. That isnt going to work... it can't do 88mph!!!
  7. They do look great Andy, could pass for factory mirrors. I was thinking of converting my headlights back to HID's, previous owner only did the headlights but one of the ballasts failed so I went back to normal headlights for the MOT. When I do convert them back to HIDs I want the jap fog/sidelight to both be less yellow too. Would you use some of those eBay led bulb replacements for the sidelights and a 2nd HID ballast kit for the fogs?
  8. Getting better every day!! I'd love to rebuild mine myself but never done one before, so probably not the best engine to learn on!!!
  9. Oh right, maybe just a bluetooth headset which you pair to your mobile phone would do Will work anywhere you have the phone then, think they are about £20 but someone else may be able to recommend a good product. To be honest I could do with one myself for my work chariot so would like to hear some recommendations too!!
  10. It's not the best looking car but I quite like it myself, looks very similar to the AE86 Corolla. It has the typical 80's Nissan rear quarter window design they had on a lot of cars back then (R32 Skyline etc). Was it RWD or FWD? I think a lot of 80's jap cars are love/hate, I love the Honda Accord Aerodeck but my mate hates them with a passion!!
  11. God not another pun infested thread!!! I carp be bothered to think of one myself
  12. The previous owner has fitted one to my Z which runs through the Alpine headunit. Has a mic on the rear view mirror, I haven't had chance to use it yet!!! I think it's a Parrot system, they seem to get good write ups and I have a mate who has always fitted them when he needs a hands free system.
  13. I'm a big jap car geek after playing years of Gran Turismo so like to see Jap cars I've not seen before! They do look a bit AE86 like but I much prefer one of those and would love a Sprinter Trueno at some point  I also like old british cars, the old Rover reminds me of one of my friends cars. He came home one day with a right abomination on the back of a trailer, but I love it- an Austin A30 body on top of a Suzuki SJ Chassis!!!
  14. I have never seen one of these before but saw 2 of them today!! I thought they were some kind of variation on the S12 Silvia but when I got home did a bit of google image search. Anyone know much about them, look like Nissans answer to the AE86 but assume they were fwd?
  15. I would stick with targas I reckon This is a swb slicktop in white but would take a lot of fabrication to get that look This is another idea to bear in mind which you could do with the targa top but I think I prefer the colour separation between the targas and front/rear glass
  16. Nice car Steve :thumbup1: Can just about get a sneaky peak at the seats, they look lush! Have they got rear headrests?
  17. I WANT!!! How much build time do you reckon it's taken so far?
  18. Looks like its going to be a cracker when it's done When are you planning to have it sprayed?
  19. Yes, same as what I've got too. Are they adjustable?
  20. Cleaned mine outside and inside then took it for a spin!!!
  21. Gonna give mine an interior valet!! Needs washing on the outside again now though!!
  22. Good luck Noz, hope you move another place or 2 up the leaderboard!!
  23. I haven't used one but theres a guy on youtube who I got some good tips off, the Junkman. Has some good howto videos, got a nice Corvette and El Camino too :-) http://www.youtube.com/user/Junkman2000/videos?view=0
  24. Lol, I think it only works in areas with trams
