water leak from rad
First thing is to check the hoses where they join the top and bottom of the radiator and also follow them to where they both join at the front of the engine. Check for damage to the hoses and that the clamps are in good condition at the ends of the pipes. Also I think the expansion tank pipe connects at the bottom of the radiator on the right hand side, so worth checking too.

Welcome buddy, lovely Z did you have much problem sourcing parts? Looking forward to seeing the build thread :thumbup1: I'm new as well, everyone here seem very helpful and friendly so you should find some good advice if you need it during the build

What did you do to your zed today?
Gary your car is stunning, makes me want a red one!!! Is the trim between the fogs the colour of the plastic or sprayed? Mine looked quite dark before it was sprayed so left it bare plastic , but I would like it a little darker so may get it sprayed at some point. Is it normally a matt black/dark grey? Andy, love the look of the interior, I would like mine done like that but a little darker grey to match my cars paint

anyone cut and fitted vents in there bonnet
Looks wise I also prefer the smooth bonnet of the standard car, but I think that style of vents on KIFFs car dont look too out of place as they are are similar in design to the intercooler vents on the standard 89 bumper. Sometimes vents etc. can spoil the look when they are too out of style with the rest of the car Have you got any pics of the bonnet closed? P.S. Love the finish on the radiator cowl/throttle cover/cam cover

sending an item to saudia arabia
Worth a look on the Royal Mail one- http://www.royalmail.com/price-finder I've used the Airsure service to send eBay stuff and it's quite reliable and fairly priced, was all small packets/parcels though.

Smokey!!!
I think that's part of the problem, I hardly drive the car, maybe do 5-15 miles a week in it. Currently if I start it from cold and leave idling or drive it, it will literally bellow out until fully warm (after 20 minutes) I believe possibly after 2 oil changes & 2 filters at 10w40, plus the flush and all the sitting around the car is doing all of the sludge is out of the engine and oil is now seeping through all the worn seals? I will try a compression test, engine does pull really well still on low boost. I don't run on high boost (although I've had a little play :-) ) as it's set to 14psi which I think is quite high on a standard engine (although not sure how bulletproof these engines are) I could stick with what's in it, as I keep a check on the oil religiously (but it is burning it) but it's the people behind me I leave in a smokescreen I feel sorry for!!! The other query I have is with the Blitz Access ECU it has. I can't find any info at all about how these are tuned. Does anyone have any experience with them? From what I gather they are tuned to mods I believe on preset base maps but I can't find out how to see what mines been set to etc.

Smokey!!!
Hi guys, When I got my z it had a leaking main seal which I noticed after a few days of owning it, but no smoking when cold or hot. Purchased during the warm period we had last april. I must have made around 5 short journey before parking up for the summer as I was away working from May to October. On returning I noticed the car started smoking a little blue smoke on startup from cold, but went away after 10 seconds of starting. After using for a few weeks (car is only driven for domestic use) I noticed it started smoking a little more and rear main leak (assumed) got worse, then developed lifter tick. Assuming a buildup of sludge from sitting to be the cause I flushed the engine (forte flush for recommended 15 min) and changed the oil and filter. The lifter tick went away but then after a few weeks the smoking got worse and a misfire developed. Traced the misfire to a sparkplug and noticed wet oil on plug which I believe made it fail. Swapped the plug and the misfire went away. But smoking got worse on startup. Did a routine oil and filter change (Mobil Super S/2000 10w40 in Feb and changed the PCV valves & pipes (in the hope it might stop the smoking and rear main leak) but since then the smoking has been even worse again!! So the current situation- basically will be fine when started but after a few mins will start bellowing out smoke ranging from faint whitish blue to blue. After around 20 mins the smoking stops completely and will only smoke on WOT. No loss of coolant whatsoever, exhaust smells of burnt oil. The symptoms of the smoking have pointed to any number of combinations of valve seals, piston rings and turbo seals... My aim is to rebuild the engine at the end of the year with replacement turbos while the engine is out. In the meantime would it be an idea to run it on 15w50 oil to minimise the smoking a little?

Cheers for the welcome everyone! I recognise that name funkysi, think theres a vid of his car on Youtube somewhere. Is it a white one with 99 rear spoiler and Veilside exhaust? Joely it does pull very well but got very smoky after the last oil & filter change. Suspect it was running thicker oil as I have put Mobil 1 10w40 in at the oil change, but I hardly used it between May & October last year as I was working away and I think Kurt had it standing for a bit so all that sitting around can't have helped. It's just bellowing smoke out between 5 and 20 mins of it being started from cold. Thinking of putting some 15w50 in to tide me over till I have the rebuild done.

I will at some point, I normally pass their house about 7 in the morning though so not sure if they would appreciate that :-) Are there any local meets around Nottm/Derby? Yeah it was Kurt, real nice guy. He gave me a massive wad of history with the car, even has the original Japanese dealers documents!! I think it belonged to somebody called Isaac before him (think that might be zxeyes?)

Hi all, My name's Adam from Nottingham. I have a 1992 JDM 300ZX Twin Turbo which I have owned for about a year now. It has the following modifications currently- Stainless Exhaust & Apexi Filter Blitz Access ECU Greddy Profec Boost Controller Lightweight Prop Shaft Injen Chrome Intercooler Hardpipes Braided Fuel Lines Silicon Coolant & PCV Hoses Chrome all over the engine bay (thinking of removing some of it) Replaced the front lights with earlier spec dark headlamps as one of the previous owners fitted lights with silver inserts which I wasn't as keen on. Advan Siena 2 Wheels with Goodyear Eagle Asymmetrical Tyres KYB AGX Adjustable Shocks with Eibach Springs K-Sport 8 Pot Big Brake Calipers '99-Spec Rear light panels with LED Fogs & Reverse Lights Later type dash pod with climate control. It had a 99 spec front bumper when I bought it but had a slight mishap with a pheasent late last year and it wasnt repairable. Replaced it with an early spec front bumper which I think I prefer (although I wish I had the strip sprayed matt black) so will be sticking with that when I eventually have the car resprayed. Next plans are an engine rebuild with new turbos later in the year.
