  1. I have just emailed our Tokyo office, so hopefully they will respond tomorrow.
  2. The firm I work for have an office in Tokyo, let me know the URL and I will ask someone there to have a look if you want. Mark
  3. Too Right ! Just driven home and wow ! I had forgotten how much fun it was :thumbup1:
  4. Well I am the proud owner of a fully MOTed Zed  :punk:  They had to adjust the headlights and fix the exhaust as expected. The fog light decided to fail again and they noticed that one of the front tyres was on the wrong way round ! Thanks to all who have given me messages, advise and parts to get it back on the road. All I need to do now is find a nice stretch of road to enjoy it again
  5. Mine did that. Changed the PVC assembly and all OK now.
  6. Well it has taken 2 months but it is in for another MOT Tomorrow. Taking it to a different garage this time who seem genuine enough. Here's hoping it passes !
  7. Well I thought I would update on where I have got to on getting my Zed back on the road.... Blue smoke has now gone (or had last time the car atarted, battery has now gone flat!) Fog light turned out I hadn't replaced the earth connection when I took the rear lights off to tint them. I have also replaced all of the rear light panels, so no more tinted lights. Got a set of second hand brake calipers, new discs and pads for all round. As the disks and pads had not arrived, I decided to replace the calipers as I had a free day. Not only did I manage to round the head of the brake pipe connector as mentioned yesterday, when I came to fit the new one, I found I had managed to strip the thread in the caliper, P**sed £100 down the drain :gun_bandana: I have 2 choices now, get another caliper (Drivers side if anyone has one) or send the old ones off for a refurb (I cannot get one of the pots out, it is jammed solid) As I have the car on axle stands, I decided to look at the reverse switch and exhaust leak. On the exhaust I couldnt find any obvious problems. With the reverse switch, I tihnk I tested the right unit (Big thing about an inch in diameter with 2 wires coming out of the edge at the top ?) and my tester then decided it needed new batteries ! So end of the day left feeling really low and ready to pack it in and get rid. Decided not to sepnd any time on it today and go and have a family day out instead. One question though, do I need reverse lights to pass the MOT ? some threads asuggest I don't.
  8. Happy Birthday
  9. Well I spent the day on the car. Replaced the PCV assemblies and 3 of the pipes (I couldn't see where the other 2 went) then fires her up. Let her warm up and no smoke :sweatdrop: Reved her up and some smoke but after idling for 15 minutes or so it got less and less. Now when I rev it there is only smoke when it goes into redline and it is black smoke. Anyone know what revs they take it to on an MOT ? While I was waiting for a lift home, decided to strip the rear light assemblies to fix reverse and fog lights. Found the earth lead disconnected on the fog light, so that fixed as well :thumbup1: Overall a good days work !
  10. welcome back Trish
  11. Was it financed under a HP agreement ? If so, get your friend to read the termiantion clauses of the contract. In most, especially from the manufacturers, there is a get out clause in that it allows you to give the car back if you have paid more than half of the amount back. It sometimes works out the better option when you consider the resell value of the car against what finance is left.
  12. Well I have PCV Valves ordered and two turbo's arrived today. :cool3: Will try the PCV asssembly and if that doesn't work think about doing the turbo's. Will have to decide whether to take engine out or not...:confused1: Aim is to take it easy and get it on the road for JEA.
  13. Would the PCV's also cause the smoke on heavy acceleration as well ?
  14. As you may have seen, my Zed failed its MOT due to excessive blue smoke at idle and under heavy acceleration. I have done a compression test today and the results range from 165 – 171 (done dry if that is important). From other threads this is good isn’t it? Does this mean that it is likely to be the PCV assembly for the idle (only happens once warmed up and left to idle for a few minutes) and the turbo’s for the heavy acceleration? I have the option to buy some replacement turbo’s today, so advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Mark
  15. I have a smaller screened version with ipod support and it is pretty good. Things to watch out for: It sticks out quite a bit from the dash because of the surround. When using the hands free call facility, you have to turn the sound right up to hear the caller. The internal mike picks up the engine noise a lot as well. If this has iPod connection and you want to use it, check how it actually controls the ipod. Mine doesnt give you the menu options, so you have to be able to see the ipod screen to see what you are doing. It sounds great and has not failed in 2 years. Video is pretty good as well.
  16. I have a Dell XT Tablet and an Aero kit that has a car adaptor. It runs all of the diagnostic software I can find without a problem. Running it perminantly in the car would not be a problem, other than where you are going to mount it.
  17. Pete that is what I am thinking. Get a run about and then do the work on it at the farm if I can convince the uncle to let me have a barn. Mark
  18. Having had a chat, via PM's, with Jeff, the worst bit is the blue smoke during heavy acceleration. Worst case is to pull the engine and replace the turbo's. Problem is that my local garage don't want to touch it because they don't know Zed's (at least they are honest!) and Jeff cannot fit me in for 3 weeks. Add this to the fact I need a car to get to the station every day. Looks like it will be going to the uncle's farm and then decide whether to buy a (very) cheap run around and then fix myself, sell or wait to send to Jeff (need to get trade plates to get it over though as the tax expires at end of the month). Add to the mix one annoyed wife and life is great at the moment ! Any suggestions ?
  19. Those were the words on the MOT sheet. The emmisions sheet shows it passed everything but smoke levels. Problems is if it is the turbo's then it's going to cost. I don't have anywhere to do the work myself other than the on the road outsidfe my house.
  20. And it failed big time :hammer: Rear position lamp(s) not in good working order (function impared) - (they are spray tinted) Front (both sides) Headlamp aim too high Rear fog lamp switch missing - (didn't bother to ask where it was) Centre (joint) exhaust has a major leak Exhaust emits dense blue smoke at idle (PCV Valves ?) Exhaust emits dense blue smoke during acceloration (turbo's ?) Offside front brake pads less than 1.5mm think (were 5mm 4 weeks ago) Offside front brake binding Front brakes imbalanced (28% difference) :gun_bandana: They put on the bottom that if I left it at the station and had the work done within 10 days I would only need a partial retest. That was nice but they had delivered it to the garage I took it to before telling me it had failed. :mad2: Current MOT expires on the 26th and this is my daily ride. Stuck for cash until end of June... Looks like another Zed bites the dust.....
  21. Got my MOT Monday and expecting to have to spend some money ..(which I ain't got for a month !)
  22. Si Have a look at Truefone as well. This calls a local number, sends the call over the internet and then out to mobile or land line locally. The person at the other end doesn't need to be on the same service or conneted to the internet to receive the call. We are looking at this where I work but it is only for residential customers at the moment.
  23. I think I like it.... looks like McLaren / Mercedes have had a go at it when looked from the side.
  24. Congratulations guys
  25. Mine does that and I was told it was the thrust bearing. I will have to visit Zedworld to get it checked as it is getting worse.
