Running with the maf dissconected
Sorry to say this, but when the Matrix goes its down to corrosion and if you change all the rubber pipes with silicone you can check the metal pipes their conected to. Often the whole system gets corroded because cheep coolants and not enough coolant allow a electro meanetic static field to build up in the water (hence grounding kits Help) and this corrodes the metals. Long life coolant (the pink Glycol based stuff) provents it and helps cool your engine better. They should have 70percent glycol to 30 percent water aswell. Most garages have premixed drums of cheep stuff and it is mixed 30 percent usually achohol based to 70 percent water. Not good for a Zed.

how reliable are these cars?
i'd just like to add that my car ran perfectly for 130,000 miles on original turbos at 15 psi and never a spot of bother. It failed within 2 weeks of coming from the body shop. I learn recently that when the body shop owner was out the young lads were ragging my car from cold and racing round the industrial estate. So who's to say the original engine wouldn't still be going strong now if it hadn't suffered such abuse.

Hi John I have a Greddy sandwich plate on and was going to do this at on friday. + I have a thermostatic valve. I was just a bit concerned at loosing presure, because the regulator would in effect be byepast. What day? and are you still up for doing a bit of on road setting up?

Unfortunately not, because you need to clear everything out of the way on drivers side so you can dismantle thr control arms on the Matrix inlet and so you can feed the new matrix inlet and outlet pipes through the bulkhead. The pasenger side has to be dismantle right that far so you can remove the aircon matrix and controls so you cna side the Heater Matrix out of its housing. Also to slide the new one back in. While you on with this I would suggest replacing your other water pipes and doing a Plenum byepass and bang on a new water pump. Then use some proper coolant and at least 70 percent coolant. Sorry but it sound s like its that time.

Done 2500 miles since rebuild and starting to loosen up abit now. Lighting the wheels up everywhere now. in this weather with sticky tyres. Its got more go in it than I thought it would have. Just got to remember that 130+ is a no no with roof off, but since i'm always only ever driving her on the race track I keep forgetting. Someone is going to end up with my rear screan flying towards em. Gets it's first fully synthetic oil service next week so im confident she'll go anywhere now and do so for many thousands of miles.

You need to get her down to a good photographer who'll do her a port folio. Off corse you stay and marshal. Then you need to speek to a good agency. Like Model team and get her enrolled. They'll teach her deportment and such like and from there on in its just insist on knowing what is being offered and insist either you or your wife are present at the shoots. You can get some good free nights, but maily your wife will. Cos most of the time you feel more like hanging yourself. Mostly I keep Dave from dp away from the house   To be honest the only boyfriend she's brought back was a realy nice lad and I know what we were up to at that age. So just be frank and trust you've instilled enough good sence and judgement into them.

Got a pic of how you did it?

Running with the maf dissconected
If you start at about 0800 you can have the dash out and Matrix replaced by tea time. I'd never done it before and it still only took me till tea time. I had to get it done before my mate shut his garage. I also fed new wiring loom through bulkhead. Thats it on the drivers seat. The rustty bit is what happens when the matrix is leaking for a while. All sorted now though and Long life coolant stops the electrostactic build up in your water system that causes it.

So where is your zed Rusting?
Becoming a comon place for cars with side skirts is along the full length of the inner sill due to Targa drainage ports getting blocked off by body shops. Mine is showing signs on the inner wing under battery tray and front cross member. Both to be replaced this coming winter when its arches are widened.
