  1. Happy birthday Andy not doing bad, only a few years more and you'll get your telegram from the queen :slap:   Have a good en
  2. Well do a search and you'll find that this poll has been done many times in the past and I assure I personally only know Two people who have Decated and Tub seals not blown. One if them his car is now showing first signs. The other pulled his engine and sold it to Nend whilst the engine and tubs had only done about 34000 miles. My original tubs lasted 122000 miles with the cats in and failed one week after the cats were removed.
  3. Exactly The problem is too many people here are speaking without having experienced what a Supercar is. Price tag has nothing to do with it. The Noble is a proper Supercar and only costs £49K which if you work out the inflation rates over the last 17 years. Then you'll realize that A) the Zed was bloody expensive in its time and B) the Noble is cheeper than the Zed was to buy new.
  4. Well I have driven a Ferrari 348 (last week infact) and would say its not as powerful as my Zed and not as quick in a straight line but after that the Ferrari was better balanced, much easier to commit to corners, could get the power down quicker out of the corners and just felt more like a race car. I'm sure I would do quicker lap time in the Ferrari on almost all race tracks than i could in my Zed. Having said that the Zed in a ten times better every day performance car and there are many better trackday cars than the ferrari, but the Zed isn't in that league. I've driven quite a few Porsches, two of my best friends own a few. The old 911 were abismal things to drive, but the 996 and 997 are reall Supercars even though on a straight and not too twisty road I can kill em both as i do, but my zed aint standard and a 997 with the Porscher Challenge set up would eat my Zed up Sorry I think your dreaming. The Zed is a great performance car and I love mine to bits, even when its in bits but it could never be in the same league as the above company.
  5. In 1989 the 300zx was £36K and the 911 of the time was a similar price and no where near as quick, but speed and power arn't what make a super car and to be honest as much as I love my Z it really isn't a supercar. If you drive one you'd know the difference.
  6. Standard is 50mm 2" internal bore. Greg Dupree's super dooper 650 RWHP Z has 2 1/2" exhausts. However if you increase the bore and decat you'll produce not back presure and it will flow better at High rev's, but watch those Turbo seals.
  7. None standard Blue Pearl. It was this colour way before this thread started and now there are many imitators.
  8. Its a gamble Why do you think 3" as opposed to 2 1/2" would be any better for decatting?
  9. Old turbos + Decat and your in for trouble. Low milage turbos regular oilchanges every 3000 to 4000 miles with a good fully synthetic oil and no problems. The biggest problem with these cars is that most are so called Jspec. 1989 to 1992 cars that would have failed imissions in Japan years ago. So where have they all been? I've seen fresh genuine Jap import cars and they are like new. I've bought a couple. They come with Jspec log book and all auction paperwork and SVA approval sheet etc. I've also seen loads of the so called Jap import car dealers where all the cars are 12 to 15 year old and all done 60K. These cars have been thrashed aroung Indonesia for about 9 years then bough for buttons and sold over here as Jap imports. You only need to look at the interiors of some of these cars. My car is UK spec and has done 130000 miles and the interior is better than any Jspec car I've ever seen unless it's been completely refurbed. Or the genuine Jap imports which I've seen and the interiors are straight and don't look like and entire family have lived in it 24 7.
  10. If you go for the T28's you have to have different down pipes as it's a 5 stud fitment and not a 4 as is the standard. You also need different oil feeds as they are different also. Then dependant on which T or GT 28's you go for they will shift an aweful lot more air. My GT2837RS's were pushing 10.5 psi just on waiste gate presure with boost disconected and affectively on Safety boost. So you have to have the ECU chipped anyway or you'll be and running lean etc. IMO I'd either get your own tubs refurbed or Buy a set of good second hand ones. I have a set that came of the engine in my car. They have only done a genuine 37,000 killometers 23,000 miles as it was John Dixons engine. If you want em you can have em for £150 + your old ones so they can be PX for the new tubs on my project. They have no plat in them at all and should last at leats 45000 miles.
  11. Too true I'm just waiting for my Co conspititors or spiritor (noy sure if one of them was serious or not) to say their up for it and then Yep. Was looking at buying in kit form anyway and trackdaying it next year, but if we can get it for the write price then why not.
  12. Thank you for that I'm just going to placed a bid on it.
  13. Does that mean you like the bonnet bulge :hurl: What a pants looking car.
  14. Do a search on the tool bar for "Change at Will". A guy in the states is selling them at about £300 a kit.
  15. Chris at GetGReddy in traders section. they are on his web site.
  16. Seven years ago the Zed specialists of the time said exactly the oppersite and if you ask Luke at the Zed centre or Mike Feeney they'll tell you that during the late ninties they repaced more manuals with auto's. + the Yanks claim that the standard Auto will handle 600BHP and the manual around 650BHP. However they are talking about new boxes and most manual Zeds i've driven or been in tend to have naff 3rd and 4th gears and thats just from constant use on a relatively moderately tuned car. You cna get a HKS Gearbox ECU for quick changes so you loose tha laggy change. Sounds like you have awife who understands the Zed thing. Mine just hates it. Then again she hates anything that means I have fun. Yep I'm definatly going to have at lease 2 days at the Ring thought some of the other attractions still have there pros.
  17. You did the brave thing and slipped it in conversation in a public place where there were not handy bluggening or stabbing implements then.  Well you know the reason my car didn't make the Nurburg run turn out to be a stuck piston in one of the dump valves. If I'd have known it would have taken 40 mins the strip both and grease em. Anyway she's running really well now so you'll be there in you Zedster next year as well?
  18. I ran mine at 15 psi for about 5 years. Never a spot of bother. If your going to run 500+ BHP then they need uprated internals just as the Manual does. All the top standing quater mile cars with big BHP are Auto's Including the sub 11 second Zeds in the states.
  19. I bet thats a UK car as mine was. anyway how goes it Mr Sideways
  20. The Jspec autos don't have a cooler as in Japan they never do the motorway milage and speeds. So the UK driving kills em. Where as Uk auto has the Cooler and mine did 130k before chunk bought it and posted his fastes 1/4 with it. He Didn't bother with a cooler and shortly after it died
  21. I don't know john 600 NA HP with all that torque. + it would be listed as an NA. It would turn some heads and do a very respectable job so long as you get a good launch.
  22. Thanks John I've already got the Mocal stuff and it's good stuff so i'll stick with what i've got, just that looking at the quality i wonered if it was more expensive and really it isn't. So I know for my next project. Which will not be a Zed. i might be looking a the Pace IC's and selling my Greddy's
  23. Hi there I converted my car from Auto to manual a few years back and as I live out in North Wales I must addmit I do love my manual. However if I lived in the South East, the fact its so built up I'd be tempted to go for a fast auto with change at will. This means that you canhave both.
  24. Hi John Just out of curiosity how much was that. and are you using a Pace remote filter take off. As you know I've just bought the Mocal remote filter plate and take off plate etc, but that does look better made. + you said I was turning into the son of Vinz the Bling
  25. They didn't replace the VVT springs on that linky. If your not confident about doing this or like me you don't mind doing this stuff, but earning a living and looking after the needs of a family, mean you just don't have more than a couple of hours each weekend to throw at it. Then all I will say is C&S Woods They're in Manchester, but worth the trip over and if you come over the snake what a loverly run. I got there number if you want it just PM me. I will recomend no one else these days, because of all the people I've ever taken mine to these are the only people that meet the standards I expect.
