going to be doing this at the weekend. Think I may have confused myself with questions. SO as I understand it I can just drop the whole UK clock set into JPEC and it will read in MPH and odo will read in MPH. I need to alter the mileage to match mine so how do I get into the internals to do this? Thanks

I dont like to see what is essentially a good car go to waste but like you I'll be snaffling bits for mine and will probably keep a few bits for the future.

...and the vultures are circling already :laugh: Bit of dilema really. Bought it a while back for few bits and was going to do it up and sell. Pretty striaght car but needs turbos replacing but have replacments ready. Lots of history and drives fine. but once I got it into garage and started working on it, I discovered the dreaded sill rot in a big way!! Almost a shame to break it but the welding work and parts needed just too much cost / hassle and I have a nice tidy Z already.

I feared that would be the answer ! Cheers.

word of warning- I have a genuine blazt datascan cable with an RS232 connector and it does not work with a serial to USB converter. I have tried two converters and not the cheap ones either.

not sure how far you have gone with this as yet but might be rescuable. here is what i did with my worn driver seat last weekend. I did this is a few hours but it ought to take longer really- i rushed it as needed doing - stitch up hole and dye it etc. I will have a full retrim soon. I used the Woolies upholstery kit- designed specifically for leather renovation. comes with a cleaner / hide feed - dye and a sealing paste. before after

I ought to add that its had delimeter fitted and everything now reads in mph including mileage. Speedo has MPh and Kph readings- just really essay as though some greasy fingered child has got in there to fit it! May be wiser to just take it out and try and clean it up.

I am guessing not. both are auto tt. Have a nasty speedo clock on mine that i want to swap. can i just drop the whole clock set in or do i just need to swap over the actual dial ? prefer the later as it keeps mielage etc as it should be. Thanks

Thanks all. Links to other peoples work very interesting, gives me a good idea of whats involved. Will cut some more away today and lift the carpet to see how bad it is. Fortunatley its not my pride and joy z, just one I picked up to snaffle a few parts off and tidy up and sell on. Have to replace the turbos too- so its either going to become a project or a breaker!

Any idea of costs of inner and outer sills?

I better go pull up the rear carpet and check to see what may be lurking there!

I have a mate who can weld it for me and body work I can do myself, just not sure if I'll be chasing my tail!
