  1. Seems I have a small coolant leak, thinks it looks like ater pump... how can i check how much coolant has been lost ? need to top up and get in top be repaid.
  2. love the smooth look of the 99 but dont you think the wheels OEM wheels are looking a bit dated and making the car under wheeled ?
  3. My TVR never broke down... it just kind of disintegratred at leaisure  I think I sould plan on owning both and begin my collection of Z's ! so if not a 350Z what ?
  4. Reasonable point but lets face it chucking money at any car is never an investment! I owned a TVR..... I should know! :smash:
  5. thanks all.... may just hang on to the ZX. As geeky_hawkes says, they just dont have any value on sale and yet if you know them its such a good car for the money! Think maybe the option is to work my nuts off for the rest of the year and throw my bonus toward the 350 and keep the ZX. Haven't driven the 350 yet and with my 300 sat on Tein suspension with strut braces and being a TT I just wonder wether i will find the 350 a bit dissapointing.
  6. The dilema..... its either a 350Z or I throw 10k at the ZX. Cant make up my mind, or more to the point I keep changing it! I am on my 2nd Z and have had a TVR Chimeara and Lotus Esprit S4 inbetween and still think the Zx is best of them all. Always wanted to go wide and splash out ou the ZX but i Just cant quite conveince myself to throw that klind of dosh at a 14yr old car. Its an import with only 45k on and is superb condition, not let me down in 2 1/2 yrs ownership and still puts a smile on my face. Not expecting the most unbiased answers on this site !!! :) Anyone got or had both?
  7. Makes me wonder if they make it up as they go. I do have commuting to and from work permitted on my policy though.... just can t help it when the sun is out !
  8. Thanks all for your input. Having noted the recent renewals at similar rates with Houghtons, I went back to them today and asked them to try harder ! A while later Michelle from Houghtons (very helpful) called me back with a new premium of £370 instead of £690! Result.
  9. I was told they changed it all back in Jan ChrisC, so you must have got in beforehand! I think I'll give Norton a try. Thanks Snoopy300.
  10. Just had renewal through and its gone from £340 to £690!!!!! 2nd car on limited 5k pa mileage. Anyone else had same problem and come up with an alternative? I can make it my main car for the summer(next 5 months) for extra £220 and garage the Lexus for that time. Seems like the best option unless anyone has any ideas.......
  11. I traded my first Z in for TVR Chimerea back in 98, when all the bits finally fell off the TVR and the glue holding it together lost adhesion, i traded that in for a Lotus Esprit S4 which i had always wanted. Had the Esprit for a couple of years and then sold it. Got bored of my lexus and went hunting for something else...... looked at loads of options and just kept coming back to the Z. I was tempted to get an Esprit V8 but, as anyone will know who has been in one or lived with one, it has absolutley no practicallity at all, only enough room in the boot for a toothbrush and a change of pants ! with a near 30K price tag i just couldn't bring myself to do it when comparing it with the Z which cost me 7K ! (jap import 92 TT 40k and immaculate) with Tein suspenion and nice set of alloys it handles superb and has more than enough grunt. Not quite the sports car feel of the lotus or TVR, but close enough and the solid build, reliability ( dare i say it, 2 Z's, 140k of Z mototring and only turbo seals needed doing on my old one after 90k ) and more comfrotable and user friendly interior and some luggage space make it a winner for me ! and i didn't have to sell an organs to buy it ! The Z is quite simply a bloody good car. If had loads of wonga i would still keep it and do some serious mods and probabably buy another !
  12. Can anyone confirm the correct wheel offset for the Z please?
  13. Right, I have done a search and it seems the correct offset is 35 for the Z suggesting my 32 is wrong. Will a 3mm spacer do the trick ? if so where do I get some ? Thanks for the input so far guys.
  14. ... also said +32 which sounds wromg to me.
  15. Wheels are 18 x 8.5 J PCD 114.3 Whats the correct PCD ?
  16. ... forgot to mention, running 235/35/18 on the front... possibly a wheel offset problem ?
  17. Just taken off the front tyres and the insides have fallen to pieces, I thought this might be due to -ve camber as the car is lowered on tein suspension but on closer insepection it seems that the tyres are rubbing on the suspension components ( the underside of the big smooth metal strut ) and it has basically gorged the tyre edge. Is this still a result of -ve camber and / or is the car to low ? Guess I need camber kit anyway. Where do I get one from ?
  18. Can anyone advise on correct tyre pressures for 265/35/18 and 235/40/18 on a Z please ?
  19. IMO off the shelf paint for perl and metallic is not very good. I use my local Part Co centre to make up the paint from scratch. Better qulaity paint spray i find. Recently had some made up for my lexus, which is a pearl and the qulaity and match is superb. The paint cans whichare about a pint size were £8 plus vat and the lacquer was about £3 plus vat.
  20. I have Tein suspension fitted and lowered alot. Its great for handling but not good for your back on long motorway drives... nodding dog syndrome ! and not nice on crappy country lanes but as its a second car for me its not a problem. I wouldn't want it one for every day use. However the point made ealrier about the negative camber is very valid. The inside of my fronts have disintegrated while there is stil 4-5m tread on the outside, wasn't helped by knackered tension rods bushes but i think a camber correction kit or adjustable link arms are first on my shopping lift. If your going to lower it that far invest in the camber kit at the same time.
  21. Similar problem too. I beleive following a recent MOT that the upper link arms are of particular concern on the Z and also the Primera and are noted as being a problem area andparticular attention should be paid to them at MOT. Thats only what i've been told though. Suspect lowering car without adjustable upper arms adds to stress and waers them quicker. Another job for the winter... if i can ever fet motivated to leave the warmth and comfort of the sofa for the cold and damp of the garage !
  22. Thanks. Guess it was combination of -ve camber, knackerd tension rod bushes and tracking/balance out. Couldn't see any visible signs of it catching on anything. Similar problem on the rear, though not as bad. Adjustable upper arms sound expensive and what are Camber spacer shims ? do I need the same for the rear too ?
  23. The inside of my front tyres have completely fallen apart, it is like something has gorged the inside edge/tyre wall right through to the thread and the tread is peeling off. The rest of the tyre is fine. Its too excessive and harsh to have been tracking. The car is lowered on TEIN suspension. Has anyone else had this problem, tyres catching on anything under the arch ? I have had the tension rod bushes fixed as these were split through so may have contributed, but wanted to see if anyone else suffered from this before I put a new set on.
  24. Has anyone any experience or info on changing this ?
  25. I used a switchable relay. So under normal conditions the rear lights and brakes work as they should. But when I flick the 'fog light' switch the inner rear lights stay on bright as if the brakes are on and the outers work as normal with the brakes. £8 relay from maplins did the trick.
