She lives!
Hi all, this is one very happy santa! Just fitted a new battery after finally having the time and decent enough weather to put everything back together and BINGO! Bit of lifter tick and rusty discs but nothing a nice little drive won`t sort out, has been standing since xmas after all. So once again a huge thank you to all that have helped me out Andy, Stu & Joely and Damo for moral support...

Engine out - what to upgrade/replace?
Just make sure you label everything on the old loom and connectors then compare n marry em up with the new loom. The hardest part is the passing of the connector through the firewall, personally, i had the dash off at the time which made it a doddle. I`m replacing the heater box soon and will take a couple of pics so you can see what you`re in for.

intermittant cylinder loss
just charging the camera, had lost the charger, that`s a video still, will post some better ones later mate. basically 1st three oil/fuel on everything plenum related. 2nd broken injector tip/cap. When i removed the rail all the seals had red sealant smeared over them and #4 injector o ring was split 2/3rds of the way round, amazed i didn`t catch fire.Explains the mystery fuel smell i couldn`t track down!

intermittant cylinder loss
ok here`s todays report. Got fuel rail off..spot whats wrong! And a big thankyou to the garage of the past who took it all apart just to reuse all the old rings and seals you w******s, and no..red gasket seal is not the answer to everything! :cursing: Needless to say i`m a bit concerned as to the potential damage this could/may have caused, so any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

intermittant cylinder loss
Well, today i removed the plenum and guess what i found?.... That ladies n gentlefolk is flippin petrol mixed with a bit of oil. This would explain the smell of fuel i could never track down,i guess the injector was failing for some time, maybe stuck open..i dunno. All i can surmise is the pcv system has ended up sucking fuel/vapour in as well. Anyway all my spark plugs are blacker than the hole of Calcutta, apart from #6 also explains my black exhaust, think the ecu may have been trying to compensate by over fueling. The plenum gasket was soaked in oily fuel stuff. Tomorrow is fuel rail removal..which is nice. Happy days.:whistling:
