  1. BEST LAWYER STORY OF THE YEAR, DECADE AND PROBABLY THE CENTURY! Charlotte, North Carolina, USA. A lawyer purchased a box of very rare and expensive cigars, then insured them against, among other things, fire. Within a month, having smoked his entire stockpile of these great cigars and without yet having made even his first premium payment on the policy, the lawyer filed a claim against the insurance company. In his claim, the lawyer stated the 24 cigars were lost "in a series of small fires." The insurance company refused to pay, citing the obvious reason, that the man had consumed the cigars in the normal fashion. The lawyer sued.. and WON! (Stay with me.) Delivering the ruling, the judge agreed with the insurance company that the claim was frivolous. The judge stated nevertheless, that the lawyer held a policy from the company, which it had warranted that the cigars were insurable and also guaranteed that it would insure them against fire, without defining what is considered to be "unacceptable fire" and was obligated to pay the claim! Rather than endure lengthy and costly appeal process, the insurance company accepted the ruling and paid $15,000 to the lawyer for his loss of the cigars lost in the "fires". NOW, FOR THE BEST PART ! After the lawyer cashed the check, the insurance company had him arrested on 24 counts of ARSON! With his own insurance claim and testimony from the previous case being used against him, the lawyer was convicted of intentionally burning his insured property and was sentenced to 24 months in jail and a $24,000 fine. This is a true story and was the First Place winner in the recent Criminal Lawyers Award Contest!
  2. scary - I was bout to post asking which pads and just seen this thread. Its between the 4 for me and I cant decide - DS2500, porterfields, EBC Green or EBC Red. Im running standard calipers, discs etc. Thinking of going greenstuff but it says suitable for up to 200hp and red should be used above that?
  3. good to see you back Si I laid up my zed for over a year whilst reliving hooligan days on my fireblade, but thinking now may get rid of bike and spend more on car :)
  4. sorted the blown pipe (at least thats one of the list) Yesterday was a nice day so thought Id have another squiz. Turns out my mate who borrow my DV's hadnt put them backon properly and blown the dv of the pipe. Stripped all down and refitted both - all seems tickety boo. See you on Wednesday Jamie/Jeff. Cheers
  5. dude, what you doing on the internet when your in sunny Cyprus!!!! get sunbathing!! - is it warm there? - never sure at this time of year?
  6. mine is all leather, I would prefer alcantera tho think its better to sit on (not sliding around as much) and a warmer feel to it. I do think alcantera wears quicker from cleaning tho. you get flat spots from rubbing/wiping.
  7. I do hope you guys have a magic wand....... Im up to number 16 on things to fix.....
  8. Cheers Jamie - Top man - disconnecting the afm seemed to temp sort the problem. funny coz I only posted yesterday about disconnecting afm. Missed what you said tho bout air metering - Will car be safe to drive for a 100mile journey like this? It would seem one of my pipes has blown off (under boost going up a hill I lost all power), this was followed by running like an absolute dog and backfiring like a machine gun, not really going above 3K. After disconnecting the afm it seems smoother upto 2500 now so I can use it to drive down. Would like to find the pipe thats blown off though - checjked the 4 boost pipes, both turbo elbows - thats about as far as I can go without removing bumper for intercooler etc. If I dont hear from ya - car will be with you as planned next wednesday. Ohhhh, and theres a list of things thats now growing bigger........... :)
  9. Top job mate, lovin the seats - wanna get shot of mine I think and get some lightweight alcantera ones. The only thing Im not keen on is the red *ahem - cough *pink* dash clock cover. I think it looks too much. I had mine done in red and went back to original black and it looks far better - but thats just my personal opinion.
  10. or at least speeding off in it. - when afm cables are removed car goes into limp home mode. So by cutting a cable to the afm (need to work out which one), and extending it to a flick switch hidden somewhere in the dash you can enable/disable afm/limp mode - may come in handy when leaving car for valeting, or in dodgy areas :) (Not that we should ever leave them in dodgy areas) Good idea? or would there be problems that Ive missed?
  11. sorry to hear dude, was gonna chuck you some replacement front fog lights/indicators and bits and bobs I had spare, if damage is that bad though mate, no point. Hopefully you'll be up and running soon.
  12. your best bet is to NOT replace letters characters with the known numbers i.e. 3 = e for g3tb3nt :) - This is because on a dictionary attack a lot of these are substitued already. As daft as it sound to remember a password use a phrase and use the first or last letters. obviously using upper case will help too i.e. snow white and the 7 dwarves = SW&t7d I also add underscores and & symbols for an extra measure try to think of something that would go over 8 characters too as these generally take longer to hack. Dont use the same passwords for your paypal account as your ebay account. Also log-on securely, this encrypts the password being sent - so if your logging in from work its not in plain text on the proxy server. Also make sure you dont save passwords or have them cached on your machine (again more applicable from work than home), as a lot of these are very easily retrievable by accessing one file in your user profile.
  13. The acceleration in it is phenomenal, Was only passenger in it (this time), The touch screen interface is beuatiful and the sound from the Zorsts is heavenly. Lots of road presence, (If you think people look at the zed wait till you climb in this). Its pretty much a different league tho - He wants £62000 for it - fresh import. Im gonna deffo get some brembos on my zed now, that thing stopped and my eyeballs carried on going....
  14. Cheers :) Sorta feels second class after going out in the GTR now tho
  15. Lol, I cant do it anymore - its not mine :( Its my mate (Hes only 29!!!) must be out pimpin lasses. He took me out in it and I thought we'd get some photos. TBH its the fastest car Ive ever been in and probably ever will. Just wish it was mine.
  16. You wouldnt believe how fast this thing goes!!!!!!
  17. Hi - still didnt receive mine.... cheers
  18. Hi Ill answer one of the questions for ya - the fairlady refers to an import model - not a spec. Im sure someone more tehnical will answer the rest :)
  19. made the plunge now to change all products to buav approved. Obviously Body shop products are good but bloody expensive - and I couldnt get mouthwash etc anywhere until now.... Co-op - all their own branded stuff toothpaste etc is all buav stamped - I believe a lot of tesco and the like are the same but they do not carry the animal testing mark. so thats it - out with colgate etc now....
  20. Cheers - I will try that tomorrow - I didnt actually know if it was a switched earth or switched live. I will try taking the earth of the HID direct to chassis to prove fault. If that doesnt work I guess putting 12v direct into the HID ballast (ie not from loom) will prove ballast/hid works.
  21. when I plug in my dipped beam HID lamp on the passenger side both main beams come on but very low (about 5-10w of power) minute I disconnect HID all is ok - HID not coming on either that side - due to it being bloody freezin out and not being able to feel my fingers I cant swap test ballasts as they are not in an accessible poosition and at moment cant test if 12v is coming out to lamp coz I have left multimeter at work - didnt know if anyone else had ever had this.
  22. I found vuze to be bloated - have u tried utorrent? tiny and very fast. I think DVDDecrypter (free) does the same as DVDFab and theres also DVDShrink 3.2 or 3.5 cant remember (Also free) A Good codec pack (K-Lite Full (Also free) comes bundled with Media Player classic) and plays 99% of any videos you have
  23. dont agree with you on the tt, think they are dull and ugly (imo) but Id sell vital organs and my zed for an R8.
  24. My alltime fav would be Zelda - but I didnt like the look from the back on it. from what I recall it had round lights that didnt suit.
  25. all the best fella
