  1. i hear it for a couple of seconds when starting the car andy, and come to think about it for a couple of seconds after turning ignition off. but this is the first time i heard it during driving (well, parked up at least). its not really the buzzing, its just the darn stalling thats driving me loopy!
  2. theyve been on for about a month. im positive theyre on properly and theyve been checked by an expert. no leaks either. the stalling started happening as soon as i fitted them, and word went around here that the ecu over-fuels because it doesnt realise the air has dumped (instead of recirc'd) so it runs rich for a sec and causes a stall or near-stall (basically the more i rev, the more likely it is to drop and stall). an apexi super-afc2 is supposed to help fix that so i had one installed but its not really helped, but it was only this morning that i noticed the buzzing sound when the revs dropped low.
  3. Hi all, I thought my AFC would sort out my stalling problems (after high revs and loud dump from bovs, the revs drop right down into a couple of hundred and sometimes it stalls) - but it didnt   . I was just in an enclosed driveway where i could hear the car well, revv'd it up to about 3000, then let off the gas. the revs dipped down to about 400 then climbed back up, but i noticed for the first time that while the revs were down there, i could hear a buzzing from the back of the car which im 90% sure is the fuel pump (i hear it for a second or two every time i fire up the ignition then it stops). the buzzing definately starts and stops while the revs are dipping low - its not that the sound is there all the time but is blanked out by the engine noise. Would this (ie the fuel pump) have anything to do with my stall problem? Any ideas? I'm getting desperate! :(

Chris are these simple replacements - ie unscrew the old one and screw in the new one?
  11. anyone seen chronicles of riddick yet? thats next on my list
  12. i know its not a new film but shaun of the dead is fantastic! scary and funny in equal amounts.
  13. yeah if you want a bit of fun, go to the premiere lodge by the gmex, and say "[cough] id like room 321 [nudge nudge] please [wink wink]"
  14. Hey guess what Smithy - it was the GMEX one!
  15. well after being with my insurance company for 8 years i have to move on cos they wont insure me for the mods i intend to add. over a week ago i rang them and got through to some chap in a foreign country who could barely understand english :mac1: told him i was declaring some mods that i was "having done", and ended up taking 15 minutes trying to explain was dump valves, alc's and turbo timers do  he says well they change the performance of the engine so he has to go to the underwriters and will get back to me. a week later her rings me and says they cant insure the car cos its too high performance! (even tho i tried to tell him that dump valves and turbo timer are there to protect the turbos and the engine, and dont increase the engine performance - well i was 98% correct ;) ) so looks like i will be on the blower soon trying to sort out insurance for a modified zx - gonna be a ballache  (know who to try first tho ;) )
  16. just spent the weekend in manchester looking for houses for my g/f to move into for her uni course. ended up in a premiere lodge fri night cos couldnt find a decent one. everything went well, receptionist gave us room 321 (£64 for double room and breakfast!!! cant complain) so up we went in the lift, found the room, popped the card in, opened the door, staggered in (cos we were worn out from house-hunting), looked round and realised the room was full of clothes and stuff!!! left the room pretty quick, went down to reception and was told there had been a mistake and the room was being used! Christ how lucky were we? it was 7.30pm. what if there had been someone in there!!!! imagine what kind of situations we could have walked into!!!!!   so got given room 404 and enjoyed the rest of the night. no midnight visitors tho thank God!!!!!
  17. just one thick lead out of each unit, each lead having up to ten wires. i'm just experimenting at the moment with stuff to cover them with.
  18. i have tints on the rear and rear quarters, but not on sides or front greg. obviously i cant see twoccers meticulously unwiring the units first, but the little sh1ts probably dont even know what they do - just nick em anyway. its a shame apexi didnt think of this, and have little docks that you mount on the dash, into which the unit can slide in or out  maybe just some black cloth draped over the top - ill have to experiment
  19.    do they take paypal?
  20. im just a bit concerned about potential theft - leaving them on display like that must be like leaving your stereo in all the time. any suggestions? i thought about trying to get some sort of black cover i can just put over them
  21. oy! i keep my neons on the INSIDE thankyou! (wonder if they do burberry neons...i'll have to ask ya5 :x: ;) :) )
  22. thats the whole unit by the looks of it. i got a solder-on jwt chip with jets for £70 which i thought was very reasonable. this unit just swaps with the old ecu. my chip and jets was claimed at 60bhp+ but i think i ended up with 40ish which is still quite good value. id say the price is good, but just keep an eye on his feedback.....
  23. my dash looks like an arcade machine once i had the RSM, AFC2, boost gauge and turbo timer fitted!
