  1. agh sorry i cant make this date due to another commitment :(
  2. yeah f***ing idiots - once someone puts an idea in their head, there's no moving it. perhaps if we told them if they jumped off a cliff it would save the planet... [in a way it kind of would ;) ]
  3. guess #1: 1:32.00 in the dry for a stock TT! look near the top of this for the full list of car times http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_in_a_Reasonably-Priced_Car#Star_in_a_Reasonably-Priced_Car
  4.  very good! im sure Tommi Makkinen should have been no. 9 though :o
  5. lol youve missed a bit mate, Jeff's gonna be the new PM soon!
  6. stock lights will fit, but if i recall the fogs had to be relocated slightly.
  7. in my book, as soon as the light comes on then it gets filled up. i've run out of gas once before and I dont want to have to do the fool's petrol-can walk again! :o but seriously though ive not seen the light come on for at least a year now cos i make sure she's got enough juice in her. its easier for me to say that though as work is only a 10-mile drive away for me.
  8. they look awesome mate, fill the arches nicely :)
  9. tricky one mate - it depends entirely on your own preference! mine should be comfortably over the 400bhp mark, and with one or two extra mods i'm aiming for 450 (and then aftermarket turbos, cough!). its my daily driver and even only running 15psi it has everything i need - its not trying to kill everyone when i drive through a village or in a built-up area, but when i see that first national speed limit sign followed by two rumble strips and then a straight piece of road, my goodness does it feel good!!!
  10. i would say that it doesnt provide enough downforce to warrant keeping it, if you wish to change the look. it would only be doing its job properly when going at a fair speed. no need for anything on the front-end if you wish to go smooth
  11. i think the Z IS sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll
  12. no explanation as to why its 395bhp!?!?
  13. welcome to the club :duffer: that looks a good example, lightly modified, with a bit of TLC that'll be a superb motor
  14. may be running a tad lean on 400cc injectors! BOOM!
  15. as im sure one or two people on here will say (you know who you are ;) ) its a bad idea to start the zed up and leave it to idle by itself, even during warm weather, as the engine is only protected when the oil has heated and thinned and the sooner that occurs the better. gentle driving as soon as possible until temp up and oil pressure down is the best you can do. if you have another way of getting about and you have a warm garage with enough space to fit a Z-sized object then there's your answer! otherwise take care of it, make sure the correct ratio of antifreeze is in, along with good oil, and it should be ok. im currently using mine as a daily driver, the only problem Im having is seeing out the bloody windows! with regards to turbos, i'd guess that as long as you only come onto boost after the oil pressure has dropped and the water temp is normal then it should be ok. i drive mine for nearly 15 mins before i come to a national speed limit and build it up to good revs and boost and she's fine
  16. i love the 3D effect
  17. http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=112165
  18. I'm with Sky Insurance at the moment. maybe i should have requested an updated certificate, but I have verbal confirmation and a note of who said it and when they said it so fingers crossed that'll be enough.
  19. not too bad, but l like the old stuff, as in the original stuff  i like the acknowledgements to earlier singles - the dead rat (rat poison) and the fish (breathe)
  20. happy birthday mate! :duffer:
  21. im sure the buggers brainwash you. good news though mate! :)
  22. i rang my insurers today and they confirmed over the phone that there is a note in my policy to say that it is a japanese import. i made a note of who i spoke to and the time and date of the conversation.
  23. i killed the head gasket of a 214 last year. if it was just the h/g you shouldnt get water in the oil, but if the engine has been more extensively damaged then you may do.
  24. i love the stock rears, even the 89-spec ones and rather than pulling the car down i think they keep up with the retro-but-modern look of the Z as a whole
  25. ive just checked my policy and it says 1990 300ZX Turbo Coupe. while arranging the insurance over the phone I explicitly confirmed that it was a jap import. the car sitting in my driveway is a 300zx. full stop. just because its nicknamed a fairlady in japan shouldnt change anything. im going to give my insurers a bell tomorrow and get them to clarify this
