  1. Thanks Andrew, I’ll make sure I give the engine bay a good wash down just in case.
  2. Happy birthday!:happybday:
  3. I’ve just had another thought! Is clutch fluid corrosive, do I need to wash off any clutch fluid that has escaped either from the initial leak or spillage from my topping up/bleeding?
  4. “HR” model. What’s that mate?
  5. Sadly I think it’s another one for a breaker.
  6. Well there was no evidence of a leak at the master cylinder (other than it was empty). After going back to the car today and trying to top it up there was still no luck. It seems the leak is lower down and I’ll have to jack her up to have a proper look to see what needs replacing. But for now the car is back home and in the garage. If you have any advice or links that will help me locate and solve the problem I’d be very great full as I think I’d like to try and tackle the job myself if I can. Cheers, Chris. P.S. Would this problem have the potential to cause the clutch to slip?
  7. They’ll one day go up in value for the few good ones left, just like our Zeds.
  8. Is this it, just behind the brake master cylinder? It’s not got any fluid in it.
  9. Just tried to move the car and there is no resistance on the clutch pedal.
  10. Hi guys I’ve just pulled up in my 300 and as I came to a slow there was a little smoke coming up from the engine bay up by the windscreen. As I dipped the clutch the clutch pedal hesitated to return to it “off” position. I then reversed back into a parking space and I couldn’t disengage the clutch and had to stop the car by turning the engine off and brake (before hitting the car behind me). I had notice the clutch slip on the way up to my destination. There is also a puddle of clear oil forming under the car, not much but enough to have me worried. Does this sound like the clutch has gone or something more sinister? I had the gearbox out a few thousand miles ago and there was loads left in the clutch. Cheers, Chris.
  11. Sorry I missed this yesterday. Hope you had a great day Paul.:happybday:
  12. Oh, I see. Sorry I had the wrong end of the stick. I thought you had the car and wasn’t sure if it was the original engine in your car. :blushing:
  13. Also I’ve had an “engine number” report from cheap reg checker reports too. Might be worth banging you reg into one of these and see what you get back. The cheap one I use is 78888. Just send the reg to that number for a basic report which, each time I’ve used it, pigs back an engine number. Eg...
  14. Have you tried going through Nissan. They might be able to tell you and engine number from a chassis number.
  15. I’m another advocate for comparison sites, although I’m a meerkat kind of guy. I did use Lancaster when I first brought my 3rd 300zx but vowed to myself never to use them again after it took an hour of being moved from pillar to post, left on hold a number of times and the final price changing when it came to finally paying.
  16. Amazing photo, you both look stunning and made for each other! The wife looks good too. Congratulations!!!
  17. The bottom one also looks like the tips have a bevelled edge to (the light bounces of them as an angle). Love your car mate. What colour is it, looks custom?
  18. Some interesting shouts. I think the E Class is out in front at the moment. I do like the W124 but they’re few and far between now and I think I prefer the styling of the next generation with the round lights. I’d have to do some homework on both cars though.
  19. I’m thinking of getting a family estate car. Rather than getting a boring, run of the mill fairly new Astra estate I thought it would be fun to go down the retro road. This car would be officially the “wife’s car” and the primary car for running the kids around in so it needs to be relatively modern (ABS, ESP, SRS, air bags etc...) so I’m thinking mid 90s-mid 2000 (not a P1800 estate which is what I’d probably go for if it was for me). The car really won’t do many miles (8-10k top) so I’m happier with petrol. It can be a monster engine or just an avatar one. The budget is around £8k but that has to include getting the car proper road worthy. Here’s a few cars I like the look of... Saab 93 estate 2.8 V6 BMW 3 & 5 series (not sure on engine) E class Merc Volvo V70 They’re all probably a bit less “retro” than I’m willing to go, so if you have any thoughts on retro estates I’d be very interested to hear them.
  20. Happy birthday Lee. :happybday:
  21. Great tyres! I had a set of 4 put on over not so long ago as the tyres on my car weren’t round. As well as improving the handling almost all of my annoying rattles stopped as well.
  22. Even so I’d still be a little dubious to share this info with someone who has only made one post and hasn’t provided evidence that they own the car.:detective:
  23. Parade lap or not I still want to be part of a large gathering of Zed cars, I’m still in. :thumbup1::clap:
  24. Happy birthday! :happybday:
