  1. Was it tested at a garage you are familiar with/ regular customer or Kwik-fit type place? The engine /exhaust system / cats need to be at normal operating temperature and this can take a little time. The MOT tester will know this and a good one will spend time ensuring that it is really up to temperature before testing the emissions. One who doesn't give a toss might just hurry through the test and if the cats are not hot enough, chances are it will fail
  2. Not sure how accurate this is but I read somwhere that mid 92 on (ie S2) had slightly different down pipe/ elbows. Something to do either have or not having a pre-cat on one side.
  3. Just look at 2.8i and 3 litre capris. I had a few of them and some minters for cheap money. Now- they are crazy money if they are good, either stock (probably worth more like this) or tastefully modified. Years ago I had a 240Z, 1970 camaro V8 and several Jensen Interceptors. All cost around £1k- try getting any for that now. I think 300z's will climb out of the doldrums, but not for a while so depressed values will be with us for a few years yet.
  4. thanks for the advice. This will be the first zed engine swap for me so I am just feeling my way, so to speak
  5. When removing the engine on a TT do you recommend removing with or wthout gearbox attached- it's a manual btw. Thanks
  6. 2nd hand wing - great if you can get a blue one about £20- £50 and you will get that bumper back very close to original shape when you change the wing = Cheap repair
  7. I just measured the discs. The TT disc from the back of the bell/ mounting face to the inside of the vent area (IE the depth of the machined portion) is 25.6mm the N/A disc is 29.6mm
  8. I have new TT and a new N/A disc in my garage. I will measure them and let you know the sizes of the offset/ bell
  9. Great Idea! Spend £1100 and get them chromed !!!
  10. Are you hearing voices in your head when you drive it? if so- its the devil telling you to go FasterFasterFasterFasterFaster

  12. Possible air in clutch line. Does it go into reverse when engine off?
  13. Get a polybush kit from eBay.com. Cost about $130- $150 plus post and perhaps duty. Probably not much more than £100- £120 total. If you can DIY your laughing. If not, it can be expensive as some bushes (rear subs esp) can be time consuming to do.
  14. I have seen std RX8 alloys on Zed
  15. Head Gasket/s failed. possible big expense coming your way
  16. This sounds like a good one, but Holland is a bit far for me. I am now thinking about the other oprion suggested- getting another complete car and making a good one out of 2
  17. Hi- has anyone bought and fitted one of these? (There is a photo with a SWZ logo in it) If so- any feedback? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NISSAN-300-ZX-FRONT-BUMPER-SUPERB-LOOK-NEW_W0QQitemZ200159669743QQihZ010QQcategoryZ72206QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  18. Idea- take the V belts off the front and start it up, if it goes away- it's an easy-ish fix. if it 's still noisy it needs further probing.
  19. Thanks, what colour is your car, is it manual or auto?
  20. What year is your car? Mine is a late 92 series 2.
  21. I have swapped shells in a couple of "simple" cars in the past, I just want to get an idea what the peculiarities are about doing a Z, and if someone that has done it can give me some pointers. It is a j spec that's spent a fair amount of time stored in a damp garage with rusty consequences. I am contemplating repairing it but I think it will take as long to repair properly as it will to re-shell and since there have been some mint shells which have either been almost given away here or scrapped, that my preference would be a re-shell. What condition is your shell in?
  22. Looking for some experienced advice - has anyone swapped shells on a Z? I have some sill work to do but would rather start with a rust free shell. What is the biggest challenge in doing this job?
