  1. Im still to do a compression test again. I just dont understand how the compression can suddenly change how and when it feels like it..... must be a stuck lifter, would it make sense to say coz they are reconned they need wearing in to move freely or something...
  2. I hope so too, but there is still hope as its not missfiring anymore and seems to be running better than ever now ive just fitted the new ecu. so fingers crossed maybe a lifter was stuck or something.
  3. So if it does happen to be a duff valve would that explain the rough running maybe? Would a broken or faulty valve spring cause low compression?
  4. Would the fact i have a thicker head gasket give me a lower comp reading across all bores? i think it would yes? so i suppose 140-150psi is a good reading for a fresh build which hasnt had much time to bed in? and 200psi wet is a lot? Right well the new ecu arrives 2mow, so thats the next step, i will also do another comp test on number 6 2mow to see if it has improved again somehow!!!! Its all very confusing, or mysterious!!
  5. It wont be fine if the compression is still low. Is it common for an engines compression to change like that? Yesterday it was 0 psi dropped a bit og oil and it went up to 20psi and again today i did a dry test and it came back 50psi wet 60? all in the same conditions.
  6. Sounds like flat battery to me.
  7. It hasnt burnt out a cylinder i think id be getting a bit of blue smoke if it were the case. and the number 6 plug like the rest of them are coked up, lean i doubt!!! but i get where you going there topass Right now im confused, it started missfiring on another cylinder so i removed the plug and cleaned it up.... erm now its running on all 6 again???? ok what does that mean? must be a funny valve somewhere? Or has the oil ive put down the bore increased comp temporarily?
  8. Im pretty sure they can be pressed out so no need for a new arm. Ive seen bottom ball joints on sale somewhere also, try mjp & courtesy parts. Or buy a good used lower arm from Paul swz.
  9. I know mate but all i added were the rods and they took one week to arrive, before that i added the injectors which were no where near being fitted so they wouldnt have made a difference i added the clucth pivot last minute but it arrived next day so didnt set back anything either. Another thing i did do was take a few bits home to paint which were far from being fitted so really it was just the rods so 6 weeks is a bit exagerated. He did mention his machine shop being behind schedule though. Im not doubting scott at all im just upset, its either a faulty part or a fitting issue.
  10. Its the moment youve all been waiting for........................................ D=dry W=wet D,140 V D,50 W,220 V W,60 D,150 V D,143 W,220 V W,190 D,139 V D,155 W,220 V W,200 Number 6 has still got oil in it from yesterday so not much of a dry test. but yesterday max was 20 psi looks better today. oops think i may have overdone it with the oil a bit. got carried away :(
  11. Myself and vjay are almost certain its a bad ecu, the conzult was not reading the ecu properly and it kept hanging. There was no reading to the left o2 sensor which i put a volt meter straight from the ecu pin. Andy p has supplied me with a new ecu which i will fit saturday. Although there are a few bits and pieces still to look at as the car was idling fine before the build so its not all down to ecu. Good idea il take it to a local garage for a compression test always good to have a second opinion. I will be over the moon if my tests turn out incorrect. If it turns out to be a broken valve spring from z1 then im truely screwed. What are the chances of that? Right im off to do a warm wet and dry comp test on all cylinders.
  12. I dont think they were, he should of replaced those? i didask him about those but he said they were fine. I dont know, dont want it driven there like that. Nope car was cold il do a warm test later today. got to babysit for a few hours now.
  13. fuel pump fuse out, tester in cylinder nice and tight, turn over the engine foot on throttle. No need for that mate. I dont want to give scott a bad name he is a diamond geezer, I have not said anything against him have I? Il still recommend him to people, which i have done, he knows the vg30dett and owns one himself, think hes planning a rebuild of his own, carrillo rods etc etc big bucks£££...... Didnt realise it would turn into a hate thread sorry. As i said above i was in a rush and ive been at work, just got home now, i managed to sqeeze in a post earlier in the office, but just about, my manager is gay and was dieing for a poo and was being a real queen about it, rushing me etc!!!. not that that has anything to do with the topic but thought id enlighten the mood a bit, its hard to show what kinda emotions your feeling over the net but i was quite calm earlier today just a bit upset. First thing 2mow im gunna test all cylinders just to be sure, last thing i want is egg on my face and :D
  14. Jesus christ guys ive been at work all day gimme a chance. Its not a hate thread, i still rate scott as a good mechanic im just upset that the car hasnt run right since i left and seemed as though he wanted rid of my car, When i bought my uprated clutch pivot ball last minute to be fitted he said to me i quote "im beyond caring anymore mate". i took it on the chin as i knew he was busy and my build had been put back a while already. And i did actually test the cylinder next to number 6 which i think is 4??? it went all the way up the gauge, yes i will test the rest 2mow, i didnt have time today as ive been cooking for a party of 180 peeps so been stressed out all day and all i can think about is the damn car.
  15. Thats exactly what im gunna do.
  16. He just called back, booked in for monday 27th, He said if its down to parts failing then im to blame if its something he has done then hes at fault, how do i know he wont just say its a broken valve spring and screw me over?
  17. took out the coilpack and spark turned over the engine and there is a strong spark so its not that.
  18. Smithy ok first thing is its missfiring on cylinder 6 what does that tell you? ive already switched over coil packs and spark plugs to another cylinder and they are fine the injector is tapping away...... so why is the a very blatent air pumping noise coming from number 6?
  19. yeah the heads were also rebuilt, everything was rebuilt.
  20. spoke to Oly he said scott will ring me but hes not answering phone now.
  21. Mate there is like almost zero and u can hear air escaping from the top somehwhere im 90% sure it must be something in the head.
  22. Its just been built 50 miles ago with forged rods pistons u name it... Aaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
  23. Just had mine rebuilt by scott but its missfiring on number 6 :( he will be taking it apart again though.
  24. WTF!!!!! did a compression test on number 6 and it came back almost zero, added some oil, still zero must be a valve or the headgasket , im not getting any smoke at all, just waiting for my mechanic to call back... Having a bit of a nightmare at the mo :( Looks like its coming apart again. :(
