Autobox problem
"turbine speed sensor" relates to the speed of the internal parts of the gearbox, this is used along with the vehicle speed, gearbox temperature, tps and the engine ecu outputs to determine gear change pattern. The engine ecu does have an effect on the gear change, if you fit a manual ecu to an auto the gearbox does not change correctly. Jeff TT

Hicas problem
Abs brake motor pump does a system check a few seconds after starting, if you mean just ignition on and not actually started it could be the fuel pump priming. Jeff TT

Insurance Black Boxes.
Before completely ruling it out there is another consideration, most if not all new/young/inexperienced drivers will push their new found freedom as far as they can, however with the knowledge the black box is keeping an eye on what goes on it hopefully keeps the new driver under a sort of supervision. As a young drivers once myself and like many here I am sure I used every bit of the power from my 1.1 litre car ( yeh pathetic I know) and put myself and others no doubt in danger as a matter of course, four up coming from college at night was a recipe for disaster, many early hours driving like I had stolen it here there and every where, only luck and nothing else kept me safe as well as the local cops who made it their job to catch every idiot young driver were I lived, we hated them but they actually did a good job!! So move on 20+ years, now as a Dad my view was very different every time my kids went out in their cars, found myself shouting to take it easy just like my dad did to me, yeh till you get around the corner!! Given I see young drivers now with 1.0 litre engines that are twice the power of first car I had, I really do believe we need tools to educate them about staying safe and if this is one method, then it sound good to me, rather a teenage son or daughter moaning about insurance cost than a telephone call from the cops... Gearbox grrrr
Genuine limp home mode via the ecu has 3rd gear only, easy to tell as the pull away off the line is painfully slow, but you can drive at motorway speeds without very high revs. If someone has a ConZult close to you it will help massively, jack the back wheel ups off the floor (safely supported ) you can use drive and the gears manually and the ConZult shows whet the ecu is trying to do ie; select 3rd or not or even if any speed sense issues have a problem, also its possible to see the line pressure and valve body solenoid operations by activating different gears and watching what happens to the line pressure etc. its strange you had this issue only after changing the fluid?? when the strainer was refitted your sure (sorry to ask) the small o ring went back ok? having said that you have drive so unless 1 and 2 use less line pressure and the seal is compromised?? most boxes fail from the top gears downwards? what fluid did you use? Try using the hold button, this effectively cancels first gear, so you will defo in second when pulling away, you then will have a clearer idea if it is changing to third or not. Jeff TT

MOT requirement
Yes all good, the weak reverse light I meant is the red on the bulb is very often very pink looking when on, and get more pink/ white as time goes on, a quick change to a new bulb sorts it though. Jeff TT

MOT requirement
Yes a circuit I made up years ago and has featured here and on other forums since, basically a change over relay fitted in to the inner brake light bulbs ( zed has four) so under normal running you have standard four brake lights, when lights are on and fog light switched on the two inner brake lights become fog lights with the two outer brake lights acting as normal, switching the fog light switch off returns it to the standard four brake lights, nice and simple and no added light or weak reverse light red bulb and no way impacts upon teh look of the clusters. Windscreen
Depends, the UK colour is blue and easily available can be from £160 to £200 fitted depending on supplier, however some imports ( not all) have a brown/bronze tint which is less easy to get hold of and can be more expensive due to this, last few we have done were blue so cannot say latest price or availability on the brown / bronze tint but expect they may well be around the £250 mark or anywhere up to £500 if you go with the wrong company who says they have to import it from Japan, Pilkington in the UK do make and supply zeds windscreens in blue but not sure about import be worth sending them an email? http://www.pilkington.com/europe/UK+and+Ireland/English/automotive/book-a-windscreen-fitter/replacement-windscreen-repair.htm Jeff TT

MOT requirement
Yes, but if you want a temporarily fixed up one can be done, as long as it works and has an illuminated switch in the cabin, so many owners hate the add on ones in the past we had a fog light with long lead with switch and clamp to fit on the rear tie down eye one with the cable through the boot lid, never a problem. **CANCELLED** Easter Saturday meet - Cheddar Gorge
Wind your neck in feller I was on your side that you may be disappointed with the meet not getting enough interest, and as you often mention that in the US meets are both better attended and have more going on, just makes you the common denominator that`s all, but that`s my card marked then :nelson: Jeff TT

**CANCELLED** Easter Saturday meet - Cheddar Gorge
Reality check Si this is not the US, and despite the real passion for zeds we have a different culture here and attitude to leisure activities, check out US style football its a family affair with stadiums full of compliant fans just out to enjoy the day, here you see reports of even under eleven games ending up in punch ups between parents! local car meets are low on the list of most family guys priorities. Economics must pay a part too with R & R been taken seriously by American`s too, we work the longest hours in the developed world according to many studies and with family time been squeezed to a minimum in recent years with the country situation as a whole. Don`t think there is any less real passion here, proof of this was in spadefuls (literally) when some years ago we did a Zedworld Christmas bash one Winter and it was something like -5C and we still had 40 cars turn up! take heart Si and owners sure good times will be back. No power to cylinder 1 injector connector with noid light
Ok cylinder 1 earth trigger to the injector is no101 at the ecu and is a white cable, now all you need is any live supply so live supply to one side of the noid light and the other to 101 and start the engine, flashing will prove the ecu and a cable fault from there to the injector, no flash and means the output from the ecu is toast. Jeff TT

No power to cylinder 1 injector connector with noid light
check the noid light first on another injector ptu, once proven check the offending injector has 12v, assuming it does it means your not getting a trigger earth from the ecu. This will be caused by either a faulty cable, the ecu connector not sitting correctly or the ecu output is blown. Identify the injector output at the ecu and see if the noid light will work there this will prove the cable and or the ecu, my guess would be the ecu. Jeff TT

Prices for repair work - Fair?
Wow, nice £200 for doing nothing in his pocket!! ................. Oh hang on a second, rent, rates, electric, gas, water rates, tax, insurance, warranty percentage, if you work in a garage then surely you understand overheads? that £200 will be well hacked down after two days, and products like antifreeze and oil, gaskets and even clips, tie wraps all have to be paid for, bet your boss has to pay the fitter at least Nation insurance contributions maybe pension contributions and holiday pay, all of these things and more need to be factored into the cost of jobs, anyone who runs a business will tell you the boss is the last one to get paid, unless of course he is pocketing the cash illegally. :whistling: Jeff TT

Prices for repair work - Fair?
Wow did not know Aldi had entered the garage trade :w00t: seriously though as you have mentioned Alex your new to the zed scene you do need to understand that with zeds many engine jobs the labour content can be double or triple the cost of parts as everything is so compactly fitted. I can only imagine the prices you have been quoted are for all of the work to be done at the same time and using the removed gearbox to aid access to the turbo`s as its often the case the engine is removed for this job, and new quality turbo`s would be a lot more than you have been quoted. So back to your smoke issue, what are the exact symptoms? does it smoke at tick over, in traffic, or when under hard acceleration and /or overrun? any further information would help you get some assistance here.
