  1. Damage like that can be difficult to assess without stripping, and often is more than it looks, the car as a whole will have suffered a big shock load. Jeff
  2. Remember way back when we were doing several of these a month, Saturday mornings ended up been turned over to eprom changes, be cautious, an engine check is essential before changing anything, the normal things, sensors working, timing set ok, no boost leaks afm in range, tps in range, fuel pressure and more. If there is something not set correctly then at best you will not get the full potential power upgrade at worse BOOM!!! get it done correctly, you will be grinning all the way home. Check this out >>>>>> https://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?146033-Chips-with-everything!!&highlight=chips+eproms Jeff
  3. Well that is very poignant, couple of years back I drove back for a family thing and had no issues in Portugal or Spain, some 800 miles of carefree driving, hopped on to the 23 hour ferry from Santander to Portsmouth for a relaxing crossing been looked after and entertained well, all relaxed. Arrived in Portsmouth and drove off the ferry to the passport control and despite the left hand drive vehicle etc. was waved through with little issue, then as you exit the port onto the M275 quickly joining the M27 it was literally within under a minute was seemingly surrounded by angry commuters jostling and barging across lanes beeping horns... it was came flooding back to me why I hated driving in the UK and left near on 5 years ago ! Road rage is a UK thing imported from the US ( Blame US tv progs ), in Pt it simply does not exist, that said saw a nasty and potentially dangerous bit of driving the other day on the outskirts of Albufeira, the driver was clearly incensed by a poor signal or manoeuvre by another driver. His answer was to drive like a lunatic, lane swapping and eventually cutting up the "offender " at a roundabout whilst gestating out of the window......... this is when I saw the idiots UK number plate and was like ..... ah ha !! Jeff
  4. Having activily dismantled a lot of zed in way better condition than that heap of junk I would catagorically say to NOT buy it however cheap it was and by cheap I mean them paying you to take it away ! jeez every nut and bolt will fight you on it, the engine will be toast, end off, as will the transmission, likely rat infested interior requiring a hazmat transportation sign and no hope of making money of it or even using anything without first reconditioning it, waste of time move on, needs scrapping ! No really forget it, can I make it any clearer...Do not waste your time and money Jeff
  5. My Portuguese friends and neighbour think's the UK has gone bonkers! and some canadians I spoke with the other day were equally amused, that said they asked if English was still the dominant language or not, which was a whole different subject..... or was it?
  6. Mmm... very sad about your retirement plans, I was one year into mine when this disaster happened but held on and my Portuguese neighbours and friends have been brilliant, been British and embarrassed has rapidly become the default mode , especially given the present state of affairs.. Jeff
  7. Firstly I feel your and every leave voters pain, it must be incredibly dissatisfying to see your vote wasted amongst lies and mistruths, together with political spin and games. Whilst I can see both sides of the argument / vote decision, I also see a whole new way the Government has played the last three years and find little confidence in any of the political parties or individuals now and cannot see how on earth this can play out for the good for anyone now, its almost like any advantage to either remain or leave have been eroded away completely leaving them and the UK between a rock and a hard place. Markyb300, my post been "Disingenuous conflating" of your vote / incompetence of the Government ?, no seriously ? it is actually indisputable, any voter takes on a responsibility that cannot flushed away if the wheel comes off later, leaver votes were no way any more important personally than the remain votes was to others. Its a mess and no denying that, and remember this is not a personal dig, this is just banter and whilst the topic is very important I have no political agenda, I made my decision on the UK as whole many years ago and voted with my feet, I actually wish you guys all the best, but fear it will end in tears. Jeff
  8. I was referring to the politicians moronic ineptitude to get anything right, those who have continued to stick with their leave vote are supporting these politicians, that is what I said.
  9. Craig the situation here is quite different, whilst a good few people feel annoyed at the situation I have not spoken to anyone who has talked about returning to the UK as a consequence of changes that may or may not happen after the UK does or does not leave with a or without a deal. Personally we have made this our home now, have official residencia , nif numbers (tax numbers) bank accounts etc. and Pt health care which is first class by the way. We had planned this for near ten years so all of our official standing here was in place years ago. Sad to see the UK I grew up in as a kid in such a state really.
  10. Oh yes, my old BMW 540 V8 sounded so good, from start up, tick over, pulling away and at cruising, love my present V10, but only after 4k rpm ( and on up to 8.5 rpm though ) does it sing the F1 song..... Jeff
  11. OMG, check out the link here> https://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?185111-Bye-bye-EU&highlight=values What we were talking about, and still are in 2019, and so the UK lumbers on, read some of the views and comments " from three years back and it is clear "we knew nothing of what was to come" yet, it was it was truly the fundamental moment where political chaos and the world view of the UK entered a new beginning or low as it turns out, to appear on the world stage, as a country run by a group of morons, shadowed by a group of morons and backed by ..... well leavers. Jeff PS will I need a visa to post here ?
  12. Wow amazing, " LS3 6.2L engine and manual 6sp gearbox, around $10k spent on engine " Does beg the question why the vg engine cost so much to modify and really going V8 Muscle engine is likely a way easier route in the long run. Jeff
  13. Anyone read this !! https://www.retailgazette.co.uk/blog/2019/08/gdp-ons-brc-uk-now-one-quarter-away-from-recession/
  14. Sure someone asked about light weight nuts recently and the concensus was to not use them or at least unproven one`s of the tinternet. So I was aware of an issue with these on the BMW site I am on but now have the full story so as a way of warning so take a look here, not good. By Andy BMW forum July 2019 "For those of you who weren’t at Vanity yesterday, this happened at 7:40 am, on the way to the show. All 5 titanium wheel studs sheared The wheel went under the car and then bounced all the way down the road, and into the bush (bottom left of picture). Thankfully, I’d just pulled out of the junction and was travelling at around 15 mph. 10 minutes earlier, I was on the motorway, travelling a lot faster. The car will be fixed by the end of the week and I’ll find out why the studs sheared. My main point for posting is to say a massive thank you to Samarjit Singh Sandhu, Dean James Harrigan& James Willett. Within 5 minutes of posting on Instagram, all 3 contacted me to check I was ok and see what help I needed. Nothing was too much trouble for them, I’m really grateful to all 3 of you, so thank you! An extra thanks also to Sam, as he gave me a lift all the way home " ? Fixed with the exception of a small dent in the wheel arch

  19. Don't stress about the fluid if it was cherry red a said at for auto gearboxes and steering on it will be fine. As the issue is also intermittent then it's unlikely more than just the speed variable assistance playing up. It is designed to lessen the assistance as you get faster to prevent over sensitive issues. So look at the solenoid connection on the end of the rack, this only works on 5volts and can suffer from bad connection issues. Also check if the speedo is not working when the lack of assistance occurs, a speed sensor circuit or dash cluster fault could be the culprit. The steering whine from the pump can be an indicator of a worn pump or cavitation leading to air bubbles check in the reservoir for clear cherry red fluid rather than light red foam.
