  1. Great idea to honour Mike.... ….I would like to come along, but it's Julia's birthday on the 1st, so she's looking to plan lunch with friends on the Sunday. However, if for some reason we don't do that, I'll be there...
  2. Another sad loss.... RIP Terry
  3. They should be decent tyres too Lee - perhaps wait until they have worn in a bit.
  4. Yup - I would concur as well..... …..How did the journey home go? And good luck with your new toy
  5. I haven't done anything to mine, since giving it a nice clean and popping it under its cover in the garage, just before Christmas.... However inspired by Gio and some advice from AndrewG on his thread, I have just received these in the post: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/JVC-CS-J620X-6-5-16cm-2-Way-600-Watts-Car-Van-Door-Coaxial-Speakers-Pair/171420040661?hash=item27e96e3dd5:g:j2YAAOSwnDZT6-py https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Regin-Single-Sided-Foam-Sealing-Tape-12mm-X-12mm-REGJ60/360392257558?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 The speakers are indeed the correct 16cm (6.25 inch) diameter to bolt straight in - most "so-called" 16cm speakers are actually 6.5 inch and would require adaptions to the pods to fit. Hopefully they will be better than the Fusions, I installed a few years ago - if not, watch the "for sale" sections I was planning on taking the Zed out this weekend, but with the heavy frost and low temperatures yesterday and today, the roads here will have been salted..... And I have learned my lesson
  6. Agreed - I replaced my scuttles once I got the Zed back from Dasstech…… Made one hell of a difference
  7. Yup - definitely useful for those hard-to-find items.....!!
  8. Yup - I second Andrew's comments.... ...But the brand and quality of tyres will also play a major part in taming the RWD beast. I had brand new Avon ZZ3s on my first Zed, when I bought it - and the rear wheels would light up at the slightest opportunity. I replaced them with Goodyears and all was well; they only span in wet conditions, if I was too heavy on the gas. I've tried a few brands during my ownership - and Goodyears were always consistently (forgive me) good. Likewise, Continentals. Dunlop SP Sport were OK until they got down to 3mm..... But despite my initial experience with Avon, I tried their latest ZZ5s after a friend recommended them - and I am suitably impressed. No scary moments, sound grip, longer lasting than the Goodyears and reasonably priced. ….Oh, and they also have little "Z" logos all around the outer edge of the face; a nice touch on the Zed, I reckon
  9. Very sad news indeed - Mike was a long-standing member of the Z/ZX community. He was one of the best traders, on here and over on Z-club; always helpful and reliable. RIP Mike - we'll all miss you sir......
  10. ….And I forgot to add the obvious part - you'll need to install some orange indicator bulbs (straight pinned variety). I used the chromed bulbs, which flash orange, to avoid the "fried-egg" look behind the newly cleared lens
  11. With patience..... Take the indicator bulb out, then using a soldering iron (or heated-up a screwdriver), slowly melt an "X" into the orange lens. Melt away more if you wish, but take your time.... Then use a pair of long-nosed pliers to break the rest of the orange plastic away. Once finished, turn the light unit upside-down and shake the rest of the broken orange plastic out. Job done! Don't do what I tried first - and simply tap away at the orange with a screw-driver and hammer...… I went straight through the front of the light unit. JeffTT laughed so much at my failed exploits, that he kindly sent me a free replacement (Thanks Jeff...).
  12. Bidding appears to have ended.... Sad to see the demise of another UK spec, it looked pretty rough though
  13. Many happy returns Dave.....
  14. Happy birthday for yesterday Gary - hope you had a great day mate.....
  15. Happy birthday for yesterday Howard - hope you had a great day mate....
  16. You have the Green Party representing Brighton in Parliament, so I am not surprised......
  17. Yup - sorry, I forgot that... Stick with that one for sure
  18. Not really - to keep fronts and rears close to the same rolling circumference, you'll need to drop to 30 profile. Especially if you're going for 275 width...… I'd also consider 235/35/19 and 265/30/19, depending on cost and availability of the rears.
  19. Yup - a Zed will fall foul of the ULEZ next year.... …..Not to mention how Sadiq Khan has fooked up the roads in London. Luckily, I don't live there myself; but visiting my parents in Leyton has become a nightmare. From replacing the perfectly functioning roundabout at Whipps Cross with stupid traffic lights that take an age to change; to closing off pretty much all the side roads en-route to my folks, meaning I have to sit in traffic for miles along Lea Bridge Road. It used to take me 10 minutes from leaving the A406 at The Waterworks; now it's more like 35 minutes Hell, I can travel the whole way from home to The Waterworks in that time on a good day!! That and the endless proliferation of speed humps - I no longer take the Zed there anyway. I don't much like taking the Merc there either; hence I replaced Julia's car with one that is ULEZ friendly.
  20. I know exactly how you feel there Lee..... My own highlight of 2019 was also having the Zed back home - and just driving it again, after a year away. Two holidays, a couple of shows (Museum of Power and the AGM at BMM) and a few weekend trips ensured I made full use of my 5,000 miles PA insurance policy
  21. Yup - I have to concur - our best stand thus far, I think
  22. Welcome back to the fold Rich - hope you're well mate.....
  23. A belated happy birthday Tony - hope you had a good one mate!
