Oi Pork........ shaaaaaaat iiiiiiiit:D Quote from Nissan designers "...in recognition of the (300zx's) 155mph potential on the Autobahn all cars for Europe (including UK) undergo a special test procedure at the end of the porduction line in the Z-car factory. Each car spends 50 minutes on the dynomometer continuosly running at maximum speed......" Anyway, all performance figs quoted in MY previous posts were in respect of UK cars in UK road tests. The latest was What Car Oct 1993: Supra v 300ZX v Mitsi 3000GT v Porsche 968. Just for the record, porsche 968 came bottom (both performance and overall conclusion), even worse than fat slow old mitsi 3000GT:p 300zx was only outpaced by Supra, it stuffed the others:D

Filled a gap!
Amazing!!!! Those japs think of everthing:D Now if only they could come up with something to remind me not to open the boot by holding the spoiler;)

The 928 is indeed a great car, it wants to be for a new cost of£60-70k. It must have upset porsche when fast jap coupes (Zed, Supra) can do the same things as the 928 for half the new cost.:D I that was the whole point of the comparison, as the performance etc of those cars is sooo close.

Closest modern equivalent
For £20K......?? I'd probably look for an XK8, although it's slower than the Zed so if the XKR can be bought for £20K....... I couldn't drive an M3 - we all know what BMW drivers are:D A TVR? then again they are not particularly reliable, so my mechanic reckons.... I suppose I could always get a late model Supra TT:p Heh Heh, I'll keep the Zed for now thanks !!!!

Didn't go down too well!!!!
Hi all I was just looking over the forum for new posts etc, when my wife came in suggesting I may want an early night.....:D When I said I would only be a couple of minutes (on the forum, that is!!!), she gave me a little grief, to say the least. My reply was "When there's always biscuits in the tin, where's the fun in biscuits?" Wrong thing to say!!!! I guess I should make sure all my bits are still there in the morning;) 'Night everyone:rolleyes:

should i buy one????????
Get one!!! I had a Mkiii Supra for about 5 years which was a good car and I found it hard to replace. Nothing under £10K compared to it...........until I got my Zed:D The Zed is a fantastic car, faster than most things on the road with ferrari/lambo good looks to boot. You'll not be disapointed:cool:

Not finished yet.......:D See b19rks reply in "confused please help" thread Oh and another thing, Pork928, USA twin turbos (2+2 & swb) have 300 bhp manual and 280bhp auto, as do the Jap spec. All European models have 282bhp. US spec cars would be slower on account of lower octane fuel - their regular is only 91ron (plus Americans are all fat b*****ds so would weigh the car down:D :D )

Stuggling against the 928 and turbo 944s?? B****cks!!!!! When Nissan launched the Zed they took it to Nurburgring for testing on the old test track. They actually lapped faster that Porche's own testers could manage in a 928GT Tests for these cars against each other have shown (0-60 / top speed) to be: Zed 5.6 and 155 (limited) 944s Turbo 5.7 and 154 928GT 5.6 and 169 (although old S4 - pre catalysed version could do 0-60 in 5.4) I was looking to buy a 928 and drove a few good examples. I returned from one test to find the dealer had just taken deliver of a Zed. I drove the Zed straight after the 928 and guess which one I found the fastest, better handling and better looking?? The one I purchased, of course and it wasn't the 928 :D :D :D

Can anyone tell me where the front splitter in Crissyp's silver Zed came from, please??? It looks meatier than the standard one and lower than a 1999 spec bumper. I think i've seen this lower section somewhere on the Stillen 'site.......

confused please help
Should be v.close to manual - although auto has smaller turbos (and in jap spec less power at 280 bhp compared to 300 for manual) the auto has more torque to compensate. More torque benefits acceleration than more BHP......... I read of a US based site that whilst manual may be faster to 60, the auto is faster to 100............ I'd go with b19rks' reply - seems close enough:)

Idle question / TPS
What should the idle speed of a UK spec TT auto be? I cleaned the throttle bodies a couple of weeks ago, then disconnected the ecu for over 1/2 hour to reset it, now the idle speed has risen to 1000rpm in neutral and about 950rpm in drive. I have driven about 1500 miles since the clean-out, mixing motorway and B road thrashing on hols in the Yorkshire Moors yet it still hasn't settled down. I've tried wiggling the TPS connector but it does nothing. Also, could the TPS be faulty as the car sometimes comes close to stalling when braking hard, say, at a roundabout?? The revs also drop temporarily to 500 upon selecting reverse?? Any suggestions please:confused:

Macca you're selling your Car!!!!!!!!!!!
Heh heh, I saw that too!! But someone should put those daft feckers at lax power straight on the real performance of our Zeds. I mean, quoting 0-60 in 7.1 (instead of correct fig of 5.6) means all those twats in RS turbos/renos/saxos and other spoilered rubbish trying to take a Zed coz they think they have a chance?? Hmmm, maybe its not so bad. We know the truth, so imagine the look on aforementioned twats' faces when they get stuffed by a Zed...........................:D

Private Plates
As Alfie said, if you buy direct from DVLA (either on line or by phone) the cost includes the £80 assignemnt fee. You can get the plates made up at Halfords using the retention doc (if it is in your name) instead of waiting for a log book - it still proves your entitlement to the number. Just go into your nearest vehicle registration office with the retention cert, current log book and MOT cert and they will do the assigment there and then. They give you a new tax disc and you can either hand them your old one or post it later. Done this loads of times - had my plate for 8 years and several cars................. (Latest one in June this year, so I know above info is up to date)

Supra
Nice Supra, I agree with the Aston similarity, but only in the first picture profile and only coz the wheels are similar to the DB7... However from all other angles it doesn't look quite as good without the spoiler. IMHO ONLY the standard spoiler looks good, those big fins just make any car look a bit "Max power" Supra looks "myopic" with those front lights, whereas the Zed has ferrari/lambo good looks. As for performance all magazine tests show a standard Supra can trounce a standard Zed (sob:( ) 0-60 / 0-100 etc, but the Zed has more driver appeal and character. Having driven both cars, the Supra can outhandle a Zed, but the Zed made ME feel in control whereas the Supra made me feel it was in charge. I'd still have one though, but I'd keep my Zed as well thanks !!:D

Will They Fit
When I was shopping for aftemarket wheels, every supplier said that the 300ZX, Supra JZA80tt and RX7 all take wheels of the same size/offset. Hope this helps......

First post, and he already needs help !!!
Glad you agreed - its not just me then!!:D Seriously though, the car must be a dog as it has been for sale since at least November 2002.......no-one wants it!! Nice wheels, though :D :D

First post, and he already needs help !!!
The one at ZUBI looks like the one I saw there about 8-10 months ago (they wanted about 5500 then). Does it have a broken front spoiler and blacked out windows? If so, it is. I personally didn't like this car, the engine sounded much rougher/harsher compared to others I looked at. Also the dash looked like it had been removed and not replaced properly despite the fact that it had NOT been converted to MPH when I saw it (I was told it had just arrived and awaiting prep)....... No disrespect to ZUBI intended, but it's just my opinion on this car.

CD Changer
I just bolted mine to the back of the rear seat, left hand side. Made sure to drill into the metal to ensure secure fitting, though.

Light clusters- are they the same uk/Jap?
Hi Rich I have a UK car and have just replaced my cracked rears with a 2nd hand set from AndyZ, which were from a Jap car. There was no difference between them as they fitted fine. I didn't strip out the boot either, just the small centre section between the two slots. I removed the retaining nuts/bolts from the other pannels near the lights just to give a little movement. Whole job took 1-1.5 hours. Richard

Digital Dash!!!!!!
Before my Zed, I had the next best thing to KITT, an imported mkIII Supra turbo in black, with t/top and digital dash!!:D It was kinda cool in a 1980's way!!!
