  1. Re the FTO......I like Redline mag's summary "...looks like it should chase Porsches but in reality it keeps up with Mondeos....." As for the GT4 and MR2 tubby, both great cars especially the GT4 (MR2 still a hairdresser's car :x: LOL) but according to road test results (stock cars, remember) the ZX is still quicker to 60 just - (GT4 0-60 in 5.9 /MR2t and ZX both around 5.4/5.6 depending on who tested them  ) but to 100 the ZX is way quicker at 14.5 (gt4 stuggles to do it in 17.9 and MR2t in low 17s). I've raced MR2turbos and GT4s in my old Supra turbo and easily took them to 100 (they had me at 60-ish, though - couldn't pass them until 70-80) Love the handling in mr2 and GT4 though......mr2 happy at 100 in the snow :x: and the GT4 is still the only car I've managed to literally get in the air. Not mine, though - I blagged one as a courtesy car from Toyota a few years back while my car was being serviced (was seeing the girl who worked at the dealer though ;) ) Richard
  2. Nice pic, you'd be hard pressed to tell it came from a phone.... Now get using it for what it should be used for - pretending to text someone whilst actually taking pics of girls' cleavages !!  Richard
  3. I think that just about sums it up......

No way !! UK cars in good condition fetch premium prices. 85k miles is also low for an h reg. If the car was in good condition you should expect at least £5000 - there are average imports going for that in Auto Trader. As mentioned, try to find adverts for similar cars and use this to support your arguement to the insurance co. Just try to find a replacement UK zx in good condition with low miles for £3700 :( Insurance companies - all :xxx: They are dmn quick to take your cash but do not want to part with it if you have to claim. Good luck Richard :)
  5. Hi mate 255 is only 1cm wider than 245 so it should be ok. I used to have 245s on 7.5 wide wheels on my Supra and I had no problems. Richard ;)
  6. Found this link http://www.procarparts.com/store-detail.asp?sku=NS9030%2D7777FLX They are US spec, though so no side lights. They are OK if you have US spec indicator/sidelight corner lamp units. Richard :)
  7. Hi mate IIRC the 99 spec one is £290+vat from the Z centre. Fogs cost about £70-ish each. Richard :)
  8. Not that we need an incentive to re-subscribe, Ajay !!!! :D  Richard ;)
  9. I think they look fekking crap...... :x: Why why why do people spend a fortune on a top paint job then put on an unpainted carbon bonnet, whick is obviouslt a different colour..... Remember those crappy VW Polo special editions where every pannel was a different colour ? :xxx: I rest my case  Now if the whole car was carbon, that could I repeat could be made to look good......Still not really my bag, baby :( Richard :)

Sure is, mate. I normally use the Corsa at the weekends but I went everywhere in the Zed with the targas off yesterday as it was sunny :hyper: I collected my wife from work yesterday and parked outside her beauty salon whilst I was waiting. The 17 year old (and pretty fit :p ) Saturday trainee girl came out and said "You're such a poser............but that's such a nice car, though...." Scoops, why are you selling? What other car has the looks and pace to match a ZX for the cash  Richard :D
  11. All done :hyper: Great idea using the coat hanger, thanks Steve  Got the £30 back from Halfords for remote thingy too....... Richard :smw:
  12. I have kept the standard Nissan amp that powers the rear speakers connected. Therefore when I ran the 2x50w output from the amp built into the head unit, the Nissan amp boosted that signal. The new head unit is more powerful than the stock item so the sound signal was too much for the stock speakers :D Sounds good now, though :hyper: Richard :smw: PS stock amp (uk cars, not sure about imports) is somewhere in the boot......
  13. Thanks guys !!! I'll give it a go....and return the remote kit to Harry's for a refund Richard :)
  14. Yeah, mine too :x: Running a 4x50w CD head unit through the stock amp fekked the standard speakers in 2 days :D Richard ;)
  15. Hi all I've fitted US spec front fogs to my UK car, no probs there. I've got the relay with wiring instructions and a nice small switch..... The problem I have is finding a way of running the switch wire inside the car from the engine compartment.... Where do you start as there are very few places that cables go through the bulkhead and they are damn hard to get to? Also where's the best place to locate the switch? I got fed-up looking yesterday so I bought a remote control system for £30  - no need to cut/drill/route etc :o But I could return this if I can use the relay kit. Thanks Richard
  16. I bought a pair of JBL 6x4s from halfords last year. IIRC it took me about an hour to do the complete job. :hyper: They sound way better than the stock items and all for £49. I think I saved a potential fortune on a full install upgrade. Oh and I agree with earlier posts, the large connector is +. IIRC the factory fit speakers have + and - etched in the connectors, so just mark which wire is which then reconnect the right way to your new speakers. Richard :smw:
  17. :slap: ...... Tha sad thing is, the tw@ts who buy and fit this will probably slow their car down, as it must restrict the flow of exhaust gasses leaving the engine   Richard :D
  18. It's no different to regular diesel. The dye is added for the reasons Russ stated. Farmers buy red diesel for their agricultural machines, which they obviously store at the farm until needed. As farming is essential (IE to provide us with food) the diesel is supplied with low (if any) vat/taxes/duties. If you are Jo Farmer and drive, say, a diesel VW golf and Mr Shell charges 80p a litre at the pumps, how tempting would it be to fill the car from the vast supply you kept at the farm? Exactly !! The red dye is added so that ministry testers could check the fuel tanks of private road vehicles owned by those allowed to buy fuel for non-road use, thus ensure they are only using it for farming activities. Richard ;)
  19. Don't think it was a factory fitment. A lot of imports I looked at had this, though so I guess it was a popular mod in Japan that worked with the stock stereo. Best bet is probably to replace the whole thing with a new head unit/changer combo. That would be compatible with UK radio bands/RDS and a damn site cheaper than trying to locate a specific model of changer. Richard :)
  20. Personally I'd keep it..... I get way too hot once the outside temp gets above 20, especially with the glass area of a ZX. When you come to sell the car later it may be more difficult to find a buyer if the a/c is missing. You know how important a/c is when virtually every new car has it as standard. Richard :)
  21. Hi mate, If you have an import, stock rims are 7.5 wide all round with 225/50/16. UK cars have 7.5 wide fronts (same tyre size as J-spec) and 8.5 wide rears with 245/45/16 tyres. So your new ones are smack between the two ;) Richard :)
  22. Looks good, Matty  I must get a set of these too, deffo the best rear light conversion. I got US spec front fogs (without sidelights, though) from Courtesy in the end as I couldn't find any either. Cost about £125 with vat, duty and delivery  Jeff at Z....world sometime has 2nd hand ones for £25 each - see his website, but he had none when I was looking :( He did recommend another breakers in Brum who had a pair last month but IIRC they wanted too much money so I bought a new set for only a few £'s more. Still worth ringing Jeff, though. You never know. Richard
  23. If you're running 8 inch wide wheels, I wouldn't go over 245 wide tyres. Try 225/45/17 front and 245/40/17 rear. They are direct upsizes from stock so will fill the arches the same. Richard :smw:
  24. If they are scuffed then try: http://www.wickedwheels.co.uk They will have a rep in your area who will come and do a refurb job. Richard :)
  25. Some of you were obviously bored 5hitless at work this afternoon........ :slap: What's the matter, no female staff with low, tight fitting clothing to distract you ? :D :hyper: Richard :smw:
