not enough respect for a supercar!!!
I think the main reason is that the last UK registered ZX was made around 10 years ago. They were only sold here in small numbers before that, whereas the Skyline, Scooby and Evo are still in production. 10 years ago when a car as special as the ZX were new (same with Supra - Toyota officially sold 250 per year here) Nissan only made them in small numbers to keep them exclusive. Other mainstream manufacturers (eg Vauxhall with the Calibra, BMW with the 3 series coupe, Audi TT etc) just produced thousands in the name of sales target rivalry and stuff the exclusive factor. This has filtered into the Scooby and Evo now, so everyone has one (Also, check out the most stolen cars.....the list is the same  )The advent of cheap Jap imports has further fuelled this, although the ZX still hasn't become popular due to its age and the fact that coupes still aren't fashionable. (They are un PC  impractical etc) I love the unknown value. The ZX still turns heads (for the right reasons :hyper: ) and can still do the business when it counts. I've also removed all Nissan badges just to keep the unenlightened guessing....... :D Richard ;)

Breaking the law
Whilst on the subject..... I was driving through Wiltshire on fast A roads last year on a dry day with no traffic around at around 80mph in a 60 (national) limit. Following me (not too closely, of course  ) was a red Accord type R. As I left a roundabout I though i'd lose the fekker and booted it - bye bye accord  I kept at 80 for a mile then the Accord appeared (eventually) in my rear view mirror and flashed some blue lights, followed by a siren  When they pulled me over, the copper gave me a ticket for a dirty numberplate.......(just a £30 fixed penalty, no points  ). He did say I had been driving at over 80 but considered "I was driving safely in good conditions in a car more than equipped to handle the speed......" Sensible plod  Richard

Breaking the law
I also think the m'way limit is too low. I like the idea of the variable limit on the M25, which reduces according to traffic conditions, but think that a similar thing should be adopted whereby the limit increases (say to 100mph) when clear and safe. If the limit were 100mph on a clear dry day on an empty m'way I don't think many people would exceed it by too much as they would just drive at a speed they feel comfortable. (Too many think that as people exceed m'way limits by 20mph and drive at 90, then they would still exceed 100mph by the same margin. This is not true as those that do 90 feel safe/comfortable at 90 and would probably remain driving at that sort of speed. - see ABD 'site) What needs to be addressed is bad lane dicipline. People need to be educated more to "keep left" unless overtaking, then they would need to be aware that if the limit was raised to 100, they must get out of the way and not hog lanes 2, 3 or 4 if unecessary. It works in Germany FFS  Also we now have one of the lowest m'way limits in Europe. Italy have now increased theirs to 160km/h (100mph) and their m'ways are only 2 lanes. Also other EC countries enforce lower limits in bad weather, much safer IMO. I drove in Italy the other year and the standard was much better than here, people are much more aware of the speed of others and don't remain in the overtaking lane when the nearside lane is clear. How to fit 19" wheels?
As it has been said before, get the right profile tyres to keep the overall diameter as close to stock as possible then they fit without probs. Say 255/30/19 rear and 235/35/19 front. That should fill the arches without any scrubbing...... Richard :)

Warranty warning......
Sorry to hear that, Jeff :( I read that NIG had pulled out of the warranty sector, which started the proceedings. The report read that another insurer would be covering ( ) whilst WHA is in administration, but after that who knows...... I hope you recover most of your debt, mate. Richard

bmw
Biggest engined X5 IIRC is the 4.4 V8 (same engine as 540/740/840). In stock form it would be no match for a ZX as we can stuff the 5, 7 & 8, so a heavy 4x4 should be a piece of pi55..... However it may have been an Alpina conversion........ not seen one though  Richard :smw:

Warranty warning......
HI all, just a warning for anyone either buying a ZX from a dealer with a warranty or buying a warranty for their ZX.... Warranty Holdings, the largest warranty company in the UK, has just gone into voluntary administration. I read this in a trade mag from my mates garage. However they are still saying that (as new insurance underwriters are involved) they will still settle all valid claims from existing policy holders. We shall see...... They are hoping to be sold as a going concern, though. I'll watch with interest as mine only has 3 months left, so I'll consider carefully whether it is worth renewing  Richard :)

Can they do this?
But that fat cnut Prescott will need at least 4 :xxx: Richard

This will bring the GTOs to Pod
With all that extra lard the GTO carries.......unlikely
-
Can they do this?
Like everyone has said, it is down to the insurance co if they charge extra for the first SP conviction. However if the offence after he took out the policy they shouldn't charge him this year. It is common practice to inform them of convictions and NIPs at the time of renewal so they may increase the new year's premium. Therefore if you tell the insurers during a year it quite rightly should not increase the current premuim in force. Your mate should check the date of the offence and take the matter up with Direct Line if it occurred after he renewed the policy and contact the Insurance Ombudsman or ABI if they do not reconsider. Richard ;)

Mobile Speed Camera Vans
I agree with any speed limit enforcement on "restricted" roads, eg 30/40/50 mph and m'way roadworks. The lower speed limits are there for a good reason (usually  ) so I've no complaint. However the majority of roads with national speed limit (m'ways, dual carriageways and major roads) are deemed to be safe enough for higher speeds. In these instances cameras of all types are purely to raise revenue. There are some good stretches of single carriageway A roads throughout the country that are wide, straight and of good surface where the 60mph limit can safely be exceeded in dry quiet conditions. These van-camera b45tards sit all day allowing some people to pootle along them at 35mph causing almighty tailbacks (or forcing other drivers to attempt the risky overtaking of 5 cars.....) and do nothing. But if one of us should fly past at 80 later, when there's nothing about we'd get done. Yet who is more likely to cause an accident FFS  Sorry, ranting again, but you get the message :D Richard ;)

are you happy?
I have no complaints with the club as it is. Great place to chat ZX, get tech info and generally have a laugh about NZR items eg. life, the universe etc ;) I don't get involved in the squabbles etc, as so far I've been unaffected by the issues. I therefore have nothing to contribute as I've no personal experience to draw upon. As Herman says: Richard ;)
