  1. Fekkin hell, since full capacity is a little over an inch (maybe 1.5 ins) from the bottom of the dipstick that must have way too much in the sump  Many garages just don't realise how long the oil takes to drain back into the sump after a refil, start-up and rest. I had my ZX serviced at a different garage this time (long story) but I always supply my own oil. I left 4 litres of Texaco synthetic (same amount as always) yet when I collected the car, the mechanic said I may have to top it up a bit when I get home....... I know my ZX takes 4 litres so when I got home, I left it for 15-20 minutes and checked the level - what do you know, it was just up to the full mark. Just as well I supply my own oil otherwise they would have overfilled it with whatever stuff they put in ordinary cars  Richard
  2. I do like those wheels mate.... .....very Lambo style :hyper: Richard :smw:
  3. And why is abbreviation such a long word?..................... :slap:
  4. IIRC driver's side is 21 or 22 inches. The other 2 are 18 inches.... BTW, Bosch are pretty good too - Halfords sell them Richard :)
  5. Tes true - the 99 spec is a Nissan part and bolts right on. Don't know about the others though...... Richard
  6. Could be something so simple like a balancing weight coming off a front wheel - I had this happen on my old Supra. It drove like shit until I got the wheel rebalanced. Richard
  7. Have to agree with this - I nearly always use the ZX for holidays often driving over 1500 miles in a week. I have never had a problem yet. In fact I take the ZX because I feel more confident in its mechanicals than our W reg Corsa or V reg Rav-4. Bugger the fuel consumption - it more than makes up for that when I press the loud pedal :D Richard :hyper:
  8. Nice one Jay :hyper: Have a good holiday mate Richard :D
  9. Don't put a trolley jack under the front sills at the jacking point - this is for the OEM jack only. Tyre fitting monkeys often do this to a ZX and the wings "pop out" You have been warned :nono: Richard ;)
  10. http://www.wickedwheels.co.uk Give them a try..... ;)
  11. Performance tyres are usually a softer compound for improved grip in cornering and braking etc. Hence they will wear quicker than regular tyres (like those on your old Primera). Also it sounds like the pressure could be a little high if they are worn down the centre - although this is a trait with wider tyres anyway. You can buy harder compound tyres (Falken for example) but you will sacrifice grip, especially in the wet. My advice - stick with decent performance rubber and enjoy. Feck the tyre wear it's just part of the ZX package :D Richard ;)
  12. Hi all I have a very funny song on an MP3 file, which was emailed to me. How can I post it here for your benefit (unless of course you work for London Underground - you'll know why when you hear it) Richard
  13. 34.....for a couple more weeks  Richard
  14. I'd convert it back to UK spec and use the proper bulbs. Can't be that difficult Richard
  15. I'd like to do that to some people :D Richard :x:
  16. Looks like he's dropped his copy of Max Power..... Richard ;)
  17. I know the feeling Pete. My journey to work is mostly single carriageway A road, but a great deal of it is wide enough for 3-4 cars so overtaking should not be a problem. However on a straight 2 mile uphill stretch there's usually the odd truck or coffin dodger in a Rover going 40mph. Most other drivers just sit behind the slow vehicle (perhaps because they don't have the balls to overtake or just drive slow cars like BMWs  ). It is still safe to pass as the road is wide enough for me not to cross the white lines, however if I dare to overtake all these people, it's a fair bet that one tosser will move to the right just to stop me. It's not so bad in the ZX as I can still pass quickly, but in the Rav it can be dangerous. :nono: I just don't understand their mentality, surely the slow drivers don't really want me on their tail and would be glad if I just fecked off away from them?? B@stards! Richard :)
  18. How about http://www.etyres.co.uk I agree with Stuart, that price seems excessive as I paid £120 + vat for an Eagle F1 255/40/zr17 fully fitted and balanced from my local garage . Richard
  19.  ;) Actually, I never wanted a red car (any red car) until I found my ZX then I changed my mind when I saw it. :p Richard

I had the same decision to make before I bought my ZX. I like the look of both, although the GTO is more "fussy" with all the vents etc. Best looking GTO is the late spec, fixed headlights model (followed by the UK spec pop-up light model - I don't like the front end of the J-spec). I drove both too, the GTO is quick of the line owing to 4wd grip but once past 30 the ZX is ahead. The GOT suffered from too much turbo lag for my liking - proved in a magazing comparision as the ZX was way way faster in the mid-range overtaking speeds. ZX was quicker to 100 too (14.4 compared to 16.1). The GTO's problem there was weight - it's 1800+kg but the ZX is around 1500. All in all I prefered the whole driving experience of the ZX, punchier performance and rwd fun. The ZX has cleaner lines which have aged better too  Drive both and make your choice. Richard :smw:

Jay  So true, though. I love driving home in the dark now, pity it's just started getting lighter ...... ;) And to you all who don't have HIDs.... See you on 30th Richard
  22. I saw this in Auto Express a couple of months back. Remove the camouflage and it could look quite a nice car - probably better than the 350Z, as it has the clean lines similar to the Z32 rather than an Audi TT bloater look..... Richard ;)
  23. Yup, that's the one  Now if I'd have got the ZX before the wife it may have been a different story ;) Richard
  24. I was paying just under £500 FC with Lifesure for a regular, everday policy. When I got the Rav, I switched my ZX to Carole Nash and it's now well under £300 - about £270 IIRC. I have a UK TT auto with the only mods being an induction kit and the alloys, I'm a 34 YO finance director with a clean licence and 1 fault accident in 2004. Richard
