  1. BTW, Leigh (Friday) Nice front spoiler - interesting variation on the 99 spec by the look of it. Richard :D
  2. I'd have to say: Boys of Summer - Don Henley Fool for your lovin' - Whitesnake Rock & Roll Children - Dio Richard :hyper:
  3. Bad luck, Yas mate  Always a bummer when some fekking scrote gets a mate to pretend he's a "witness" :headvswal This happened to one of our engineers at work. He was making a legal turn and surrounding traffic stopped to let him go. Then some nobber in a merc ignores the stationery traffic, rams his van and claimed our guy drove into him  He got a witness to back up his lie when challenged later. I even exposed the lie to our insurers - our driver said there were no witnesses but this one apparently "returned to the scene later to see the merc driver still there as his car was not driveable after the accident" yet in the Merc drivers own statement he says he "drove off to a meeting after the accident as he was late and just swapped details with our driver then left" Blatant contradiction, but our insurers still weren't prepared to go to court against an independent witness, even if he may be lying  Just a sick cheating world we now live in - just makes me more angry. Best of luck mate Richard :wack:
  4. And now they do the big RWD V8 version - Yank engine IIRC 4.something litres? but only 260bhp - they are a bit slow too ;) Richard
  5. Basically as long as the characters are standard UK sizes you should be OK. I have the 99 spec front with a smaller plate - but only smaller in width. The height is standard UK, to accommodate the correct size letters but as I've a private plate with only 5 characters and no horrid EC flag I got the width reduced to the same size as the plate panel on the bumper. No problems with MOT or plod (yet!) Richard
  6. Nah, you have a homo computer ;) Richard :D
  7. Heh heh - true, it's a breeze-block with wheels  Plus I'd forgotten how some cars behave (badly) in cross-winds when driving above 90mph - The ZX remains rock steady and stability even seems to improve the faster I go........ Richard ;)
  8. Look me in the fun-bags and tell me you don't love me !!!!! :hyper: Soapy tit w@nk, anyone............. Richard :D
  9. Who did your cambelt? The normal consensus here is to replace the waterpump, thermostat, 2 stupid little water hoses and remaining drive belts with the cambelt change as these all need to come off anyway to do the belt. I didn't know this at the time either and sure enough, a month after a new cambelt my water pump went and one of those stubby hoses sprang a leak :o Richard :headvswal
  10. No not the ZX - we all know it has a healthy apetite for Shell's Finest! :p We took the Rav-4 down to Cornwall this time, for a change. On the 254 mile journey down (starting with a full tank) I had to re-fuel at Oakhampton after only 210 miles  Granted, I was doing a steady 90-95 mph :nono: all the way but I could still only achieve 21 mpg - I get 24+ mpg on the same journey at the same speed in the ZX FFS :mac1: Could have been dodgy petrol I suppose as it redeemed itself with subsequent averages of 30 and 27 mpg. Otherwise it may be more downhill on the way home........ ;) Richard :D
  11. B@stard :ttiwwop: I was looking forward to this thread too!! Richard :xxx:
  12. They aren't slower at all. Most manufacturers quote figures for auto versions of all cars as being slower than manwells. Usually for "normal" cars autos will be slower, but the ZX TT has a good auto set-up, keeping performance near identical to the manual. The old Mk3 Soop Turbo was actually quoted the same by ToyMota for both auto and manual - again there was no actual difference. I don't reckon they actually test the auto version to obtain true figures. Manufacturers most probably test the basic model without optional extras - independent tests by magazines etc are more reliable. Richard ;)
  13. I second Jock's advice. Simplest brake upgrade is the 3G slotted brembo disc conversion - around £250 IIRC. Although the Mintex pads supplied by 3G last 5 minutes ;) I bought a set of Stillen Metal Matrix pads from Mike Feeney @ MJP (See traders section) for £70 inc VAT and delivery and they work very well with the slotted Brembos. Richard :smw:
  14. Julia & I are off to Cornwall tomorrow morning. The hotel are laying on a special 5-course dinner tomorrow evening, and perhaps we will wash it down with a few celebratory drinks........ :D Have a good one, wherever you all may be. Richard :duffer:
  15. Not sure about the noise, but as for the additives question, do not use any oil additives. The only fuel additives that are worth using are strong cleaning agents (Redline etc - not the usual crap from Halfords) if you have dirty or clogged injectors. You may require octane boosters if you have an import tuned to the limit otherwise not necessary. Most additives are parafin and a waste of money, also could do more harm than good where they are not needed. Richard
  16. Is that with engine on or off? On mine (before HID fitted - see above post :o ) only the bumper lights operated with ignition off, but when ignition switched on, the headlights came on at half brightness. I remember this on several previous cars of various manufacture, although my Corsa and Rav-4 (both 2000 models) do not have this facility. Richard
  17. Hi Paul, It's a 1991. Dim dip worked with the original headlight set-up. However, I think the problem has cured itself........ I discovered that when only one bulb is connected (either HID or regular) the dim-dip doesn't operate. As one of the HID bulbs was broken (problem now sorted thanks to "Oneday" - cheers Mark) I left the original H3 in place - hence the problem. Now that I've got the HID system fully operative dim-dip no longer works. I guess there is no regular bulb to complete the circuit? Thanks for all the suggestions Richard :o
  18. I have to admit - I prefer it without :x: Richard
  19. Nice cars but it's true, the ZX is quite a bit faster IIRC it takes over 17 to reach 100 - the 850 is a bit lardy ;) The fast "8" is the 850CSi 5.6 litre with M-tech goodies. Richard :D
  20. How about the candy apple red? Otherwise go for the classic Ferrari red. Richard :hyper:

Have a good one Rich, I have to say the Scots sure know how to see in the new year  Julia & I went to Inverness for Hogmanay a few years back. A friend of mine who is an actor was in panto there, we went up to see him (as I always do to support a mate) and we got invited to the cast's party. It was in a really cool hotel, an old baronial manor up on the cliffs in a pine forest. Great night and a great place too  Must do it again sometime...... Richard :hyper:
  22. Seconded  The guy accross the road to me has a silver one - it looks OK but really looks the part in black. Upside with silver is that it won't look dirty, though! Richard
  23. Hi all I've just fitted the HID conversion from Outlander (Excellent piece of kit) to my UK car. This of course has the "dim dip" where headlights come on very dim when sidelights are on with the engine running. As the HID kit requires full power to run, when the sidelights only are switched on they flicker like a flourescent light when the starter has blown!! Of course I need to disable the dim-dip thingy so how do I do it? Is there a relay I can simply remove?? Cheers people Richard
  24. Heh heh....... Didn't know that, but the Z32 was first sold in the UK in any noticable numbers in 1990, although a few may have been sold very late in '89. Richard
  25. I treated my ZX to a lovely HID conversion kit  Plus I treated myself (with xmas contributions from wife and parents) to an Omega Seamaster Professional watch - the type worn by James Bond   Richard
