  1. What a bunch of cnuts..... :smash: .....they con 10 year's new parking permit off of you (£700 for the drive), but surely in London the idea should be to ease congestion. The fewer cars parked on the road would do this, wouldn't it?? Just coz Mayor Ken is a car hating communist w@nker :nono: Sure glad I don't live on London anymore Richard
  2. Red is "The designers choice as most appropriate colour." Quote from the bible chapter "Tested" page 76 para 2... .......Well the book "300ZX - The Enthusiast's companion" Is there any other bible ;) Richard :D
  3. My UK spec TT auto (whether or not that makes any difference) takes just about 4 litres for each oil & filter change. Doesn't the Nissan OE filter come with a sump washer? I ordered half a dozen last year from Courtesy with a bigger order as they were only £2-ish anf they came with the washer sellotaped to the top of the box. Richard
  4. The OE spoiler needs removing carefully..... then the fibreglass new one needs prepping and painting. Level of work depends on the overall condition of the replacement item. Usually just a quick smoothing down and spraying is all. This needs glueing to the tailgate. Job done.... Mine had a few imperfections which needed filling and the glue wouldn't hold for the first 2 attempts, but my local body shop charged me around under the £200 mark IIRC to do it all. Possibly a bit expensive, but they are pretty good, local and lent me a car for 2 days so I could still get to work. Richard
  5. My average between the light coming on (say 55-60 litres) is around 230-240 miles. I have had up to 280 and as low as 180  It also depends on what brand I fill up with - Shell 95 (regular) usually gives 10-20 miles more than BP - where I'm lucky to get 225...... My Z is a virtually stock UK TT auto. Richard :)
  6. If you like it, that's all that matters. Taste is different things to different people, that's what makes life interesting ;) I don't like that spoiler personally, too Max Power........ I'd remove it but the rest of the kit is fine, it looks a nice car although maybe a bit pricey in the current market. I think the ZX is a clean, unique looking car as it is. Subtle mods like a new front end are all that's needed IMO. I'd be wary of the engine mods though. On a ZX you need to know who did the work, how good they are and whether they know their stuff. Too many cases of tuners not familiar with the ZX who uprate the performance only for the car to go bang a couple of months later. You did mention the insurance issue, those mods listed are certainly going to add a few £££s to the premium :nono: Good luck with what ever you decide Richard
  7. Hi Roy Petrol smell when cold is usually where the rubber hose has contracted in the cold causing fuel to leak at the hose joints. Easiest thing to to is go round and tighten up all hose clamps with a screwdriver. There are loads around the filter (l/h side, bolted near suspension strut) and one or two under the throttle link cover (plastic thing with "3000 twin turbo" written on it, centre top of engine). 20mpg is a fairly normal average, be happy with that as under heavy driving I've seen mine drop to 14-ish  I have averaged almost 25 on a long m-way run at a steady 90 though....... It's been said that j-spec headlights are crap. If you can afford it, do the HID conversion (Outlander in traders section do them and they're fekking excellent  ). Otherwise if you can't stretch to that, convert your dipped beam to the UK spec fitting (do a search on the subject) and buy uprated H3 bulbs (eg Osram Super +30%). Halfords lists the wrong bulbs anyway - UK cars are H3 dipped and H1 main. Oh yes, and don't forget the £20 to subscribe :D (honestly, it's the best £20 you'll spend on your Z - you'll save that easily when buying from traders here) All the best Richard :smw:
  8. Cheapest is not the best idea on a performance car..... .......but as mentioned above 3G do good replacement discs (Brembos) at a decent price and Mike Feeney (Traders MJP Auto) does Stillen Metal Matrix pads at £70-ish delivered. I have this set-up and it is very good replacement for stock items. Richard
  9. As Stuart says above....... .....plus get the headlights properly adjusted - it will make a difference Even better if you upgrade to brighter bulbs - Osram Silverstar +50% H1s are best for main beam IMO Richard
  10. I always wondered this too - after all the heating systems are probably similar, isn't it just the contol panel that is different? Richard
  11. I don't know much about them, but "Blast" advertise in Japanese Performance. They specialise in Japanese car exhaust systems and claim to do a stainless system for the ZX for £300. They are in Birmingham (could be the problem  ) on 0121 522 2022. No website details but they say they are open 7 days. I kept the ad as my stock system will probably need replacing this year...... If anyone has dealt with them, I'm sure they will post it. Richard :)

Lame excuse for not coming, Gio.... :x: .....Get yourself a good accountant! (Not me, I don't do that anymore :D ) Richard ;)
  13. Bleeeeeeuuuuuuugh !!!!!!!!
  14. So true, Scoops. Most companies now have these on their fleets, I guess. We do, hence I chose the cash instead of a car - although I would have been allowed a top spec Audi A4 TDi or BM 320TDi. BM drivers are still mostly twats who think they own the road. Take my old boss, a 5 series driver. On a country lane he ignored the passing bay to his left, just as another car was coming the other way, then when the other car wouldn't move he had to reverse back. Fine you'd think except he ignored the "reversing beep thingy" assuming it was detecting the hedge and reversed straight into another car :xxx: He also drove into work one day with both mirrors folded in and didn't notice - proof that BM drivers never look in them :headvswal Richard
  15. 'tis a tough choice indeed..... .....but I prefer her in that little black mini skirt  Richard
  16. Heh heh.... .....maybe Mac, but I don't like to name names  Richard
  17. Incedentally, just before Xmas, I encountered the same daft little prick in a Paxo each day on my drive to work. He had to pass everything in site on a single c'way A road, despite his car not being that fast. I had been using the Rav all week and at the same tight roundabout he would always cut me up using the left lane to go straight ahead (when it's clearly marked left turn only). In a 4x4 I couldn't always out manouver a Paxo, so the git usually managed it, then later when he wouldn't overtake a slower car he would move out preventing me from passing too. However on the Friday I drove the ZX to work. Little b@stard tried to do the roundabout thing only to be handed his ass  To save face, he tried to follow me with every overtaking manouver - the fool. I approached an HGV waiting for a moment to overtake, when it was clear I indicated and moved out - textbook stuff - but didn't use full power. Like a fool he followed without waiting for me to complete the move, I just carried on accelerating slowly then I saw a car coming the other way. I just nailed it, safely passed the lorry and dissapeared into the distance. I heard the brief sounding of horns, looked in my mirror and saw he had ducked back behind the lorry and carried on my way. Lesson - never drive blind, always make sure the road is clear for you ahead AND don't try to overtake like the ZX in front does. It's a real car.... Richard
  18. Hi I don't have any trouble with tailgaiters on open national speed limit roads, dual carriageways or m-ways when driving the ZX. If I do, and it's safe to do so, I just blip the throttle and waste them..... ....no, I just get the b@stards on my tail when sticking to 30 in a 30  Never happens in my Rav-4 or Corsa, just the ZX - it's as if they think I have a fast car so I should drive fast all the time. I usually ignore it. Spotty tossers in Paxos etc or the company BMW man who can't drive are not worth worrying about - rise above it or they will get you hurt if they cause an accident. Richard
  19. Exactly - In Europe/UK we drive much harder and faster over longer distances than they do in the USA or Japan. It's nothing to do with the climate/ambient temperatures etc. Hence all ZXs destined for Europe and UK spent some time on the dyno running at full speed (155mph) before leaving the factory. We also have the high speed HICAS, which is more geared up to our road conditions. Uprating oil coolers and rad etc is no doubt a beneficial excercise on any imported car. Richard
  20. Nice one - good luck mate  Richard
  21. Nearly as bad as someone here who's auto Z wouldn't start........ .....coz he left the shifter in D :slap: Richard
  22. You got another Z then Yas? Nice one :hyper: Richard ;)
