Just picked up my Z yesterday - have a few questions.
Hi mate welcome to ZX ownership  The oil pressure reading prob is down to the sender unit - they always go after a few years and the part is expensive to buy. About £80 IIRC, so you could go down the aftermarket guage route as some have. Me? I like original so I bought a new stock sender :x: As for the spoiler, don't waste your money getting the original one resprayed. I did before I bought the car (I paid the dealer to get it done - was about £75-ish). 6 months later in the cold of winter, water got in, froke and made it worse. I bought the fibre-glass replica one and paid my local bodyshop to paint and fit it. Good luck with it Richard

alloy wheel question
Usually aftermarket wheels come with their own wheel nuts. The seat inside the hole can often be a different profile, or stock wheelnuts can be too fat for the holes in aftermarket jobbies. Place the nut into one of the holes to check them. Richard

NZR - Avril Levigne
Anyone see her on TOTP this evening? I've never really thought much about her but she looked fekking nice on there tonight :nana2: Richard :hyper:

Just had an accident
Shouldn't really matter if you did speed up - highway code states quite clearly "when changing lanes, signal but give way to traffic already in the lane to which you intend to move" Still so many w@nkers out there that cause accidents then deny all responsibility later and there's nothing we can do  Richard

Just had an accident
Agreed - if she took your reg number, what is there to stop her making a claim against you later - especially when her hubby finds out the cost of the damage. Always swap names and addresses and note the other person's reg number. Glad you are ok though mate, a stiff neck for a few days isn't that bad. Plus you can easily get the parts to fix your Z here, people always have bumpers etc for sale. There's even a pair of front fogs on the for sale board ATM - get in quick as they sell fast coz they cost a packet new. Good luck mate Richard

Pics as promised
Looking good Yas, very good indeed mate  Just be careful this time!! ;) Richard :hyper:

Now you can sleep at night
Compared to todays cars with loads of electronic safety gizmos etc I would expect that result. How did the ZX compare against other cars in the early 90s, I wonder? Richard

shell pluspoints
Had mine for at least 3 years now - I've got the Optimax card too - very easy to build up points whilst I was using a ZX for 250 miles per week  Richard

Manual/auto TT. 300/280 bhp.why?
I think I agree with Mark here in that "who cares what the BHP is - if the car is fast, then that's all that matters" Richard

the price of zeds
It's also a bad time of year for sports cars - winter months and 4x4s are in demand. There should be a slight upturn in spring (hopefully  ) Richard :(

Manual/auto TT. 300/280 bhp.why?
UK spec Supras are 320 BHP - this is achieved with bigger turbos. That is also why the UK car has bigger and better front brakes to cope with the extra power. As Mark has said, the J-spec Supras were indeed 280bhp I'm sure Big Roy will confirm this....... Richard :)

Manual/auto TT. 300/280 bhp.why?
I'd have thought it was the other way round - aren't US regs the strictest in the world? Richard :)

rear brake pads
As said, rears do not require expensive pad compounds. I bought EBC black-stuff (stock-ish compound) from http://www.3gbrakes.co.uk for about £22 delivered. Richard :)

Slippy
I left the ZX at home today and drove to work in the Rav-4. My work-chum wouldn't drive it the snow. I offered my assistance yesterday, so I had to drive 9 miles in the opposite direction to pick her up so she could get in, only to find the snow vanished around midday.... Richard

Might be picking up a new Zed tomorrow!
This might be a thing to look for - IIRC the pearl white was only on j-spec cars, wasn't it? UK cars had the regular white.... Richard

Which Oil
Is that new then? I knew Mobil-1 came in 0w40 (which is as thick as water) and 15w50, but I never knew they did a 5w? Richard

Manual/auto TT. 300/280 bhp.why?
The same BHP as a regular auto ;) After all, the engine is the same, it's just the 'box that has been swapped Richard

Mongoose exhaust question
Cheers Stuart Richard :)
-
Manual/auto TT. 300/280 bhp.why?
Auto has slightly smaller turbos to spool up quicker IIRC - I'm sure someone else will verify this ...... The difference is mainly with J-spec and USA spec cars. I believe all UK/EEC models were all 280bhp. Richard

Accident - Who's fault?
This is where it is totally unfair - I mean what object is easiest to stop or change direction, an 11 stone man walking at 2-3mph or a 1.5 tonne car travelling at 20-30mph  Time the law was changed to reflect the laws of physics I think. Fekking people should watch where they're going. Good luck Dodge Rant over Richard :nono:

What The ****
It is an N/A though....... :x:

tyre prices
I have been quoted £127 each for 255/40/zr17 Goodyears including vat, balance, valves and fitting. http://www.merityre.co.uk So that is a pretty good price you have too. Aren't mytyres.net prices for supply only? Richard :smw:

Mongoose exhaust question
Thanks for the replies - looks like it is the 'goose for me then :D And more votes so far for the quads - although Cybernet's oval exhausts do look good...... .....plus Luke reckoned the ovals may give 2bhp more due to the single exits being less restrictive than quads, although I would not notice it it's still 2 whole BHP ;) Can't complain about the price either - very impressive  Richard :smw:

Bit Ov Help Please Guys
Don't know about that, but for some reason it is harder to read..... .....then again, that could be the wine and Stella I drank with my dinner this evening  Richard

Zed Toolbox
And the RAC membership card :D Not had to use these in emergency so far............. .......looking very quickly for some wood to touch ;) Richard
