Has anyone ever owned or been in an......
When I visited our lift supplier in Sweden last year, the MD picked me up from the airport in his modded 9-5 which put out 300bhp. That was a fekking mental motor, the mid-range grunt was actually better than a stock ZX IMO (some versions of the 9-5 could out perform a Porsche 996 from 50-70 IIRC) He had modded the suspension to cope with the extra horses though - an awesome motor never the less. 300zx BHP - once and for all!
Would be the other way round, mate :D If you have a figure in PS then actual BHP is lower so 225PS is probably 222BHP..... Richard :smw:

Oil Viscosity, a common misconception!
I understand and agree with what Oilman has explained. My only comment in the past was that Mobil-1 0w40 seems too thin at high temps when compared to other oils, which is confusing as it's supposed to be "40" when hot just like the others I've used  I have not experienced this with Castrol RS 0w40 or Shell 5w40. My ZX is fine with either of these oils but I choose the Shell as I collect the pluspoints :D Richard

Red one M4 this afternoon
You were heading west around 1.45 between J9 and 10 (Maidenhead to Reading) in the outside lane. I was heading east in a red ZX also in the outside lane (where else :D ) Anyone?? Richard :smw:

Red one in Newquay!
When was this Chunk?? I passed through Newquay last Sunday - I am on the short side but I don't have a big nose though, you fat b@stard!! :wack: No orange glow from my Z either, plus my fog light does work  No plate reads B(number)RFS - no doggy sound there, so it must have been someone else?? Richard :D

What car would you have if you didn't buy your zed?
At the time I bought my ZX it would have been either a Supra TT or a pork 928s4. Now it would be either a very late 928GTS, a jag XKR or a TVR Cerbera Richard :)

Hmmmmmmmm. Which Oil?
No, more likely the sender unit to the guage is fekked :x: Mine idles at just below the first (15psi?) line when hot, shows anywhere between the 1st mark and middle mark during normal driving and almost at the middle mark at 70-90mph in top. Booting it hard at motorway speed (kick-down say 80-120 o/d off), it goes up between the middle and the 3rd mark. I fitted a new OEM sender unit last year..... Richard :)

How long to you run your Zed before driving?
Pretty much the same as this really - except in the mornings the car idles for a few seconds whilst I close the garage door. Richard :)

look after existing costomer's fooking bu11shit
I have always been happy with Orange - been with them for 10 years now.... The only complaint I have is the reception is sometimes patchy inside certain buildings. However when travelling around the UK i have always had decent reception when those on other networks haven't. They are supposed to have a price-match policy where if you find a better tariff on another network Orange will give you the same deal if it suits you better. Richard

Exhaust Knackered- Advice on replacement??
You can buy the twin-single exit Mongoose systems from Z centre or Danny @ DTA. See traders sections - Z Centre were doing a good deal on this earlier this year, £470 all in including delivery IIRC. It has a 6x4 oval pipe each side, similar to Cybernet's car in rides sections. Richard :smw:

det wire
UK spec cars are in PSi mate. And to answer the first thread, boost on a fairly stock engine could go over 9psi. The stock guage isn't always accurate for one thing. When I got my ZX it showed just under the 10psi mark on full boost but now I've added the induction kit and uprated exhaust it goes over the 10psi mark. Richard :D

Hmmmmmmmm. Which Oil?
Only if you get the new 5w50. I have used the 0w40 in my Supra before the ZX and it seemed too thin for some reason, the oil pressure when hot was never as high as I felt it should be. I use a 5w40 (Shell Helix) in the ZX and it's just fine, which is confusing as the "40" bit means it should be the same visco as Mobil 1 when hot  If your car is modified though use a thicker oil like 10w50 or 10w60 as others have mentioned earlier. Oh yeah, many thanks to Scott the Newbie for opening a very big can of worms :smash: Richard

Knightrider fans.......
Hi Dave, Would be great if you could - I'd make it worth your while :duffer: :D I have seen many a re-run but I lost track of the last couple as it was a long time ago :wack: I have a few vids and DVDs but they are all mid-series ones, although some are the later ones with "RC3" working for the foundation, KITT turning convertible and Super-persuit mode. I'll have to do some web-research to find details of the last one........ Richard :smw:

Omg!!!!
Many cossies are modified, but a stock cossie is NOT as fast as a stock 300zx. Check the 0-100 times, Cossie makes it in over 17 secs compared to 14.5 for a stock ZX. Mid-range through the gears (on a straight road of course :D ) a stock ZX will stuff a stock cossie. 30-70 in the Cossie 6.5 compared to 5.3 in a ZX. I mean even the 3000GT can outgun a stock Cossie :o Richard

Bloody Type R's
True, but how many are well driven? ;) And don't forget that many a zed has 14 year old suspension - renew it or upgrade it and it will be a different story. Rwd is ultimately better than fwd in the end. :wack: :wack: Richard :smw:

99 spec rear lights
There was a place in the USA that did totally clear rear lights with coloured LEDs behind the lenses. Do a search here, but IIRC they cost about £600 for a pair (Yup, that's in pounds, not dollars) without VAT and import duty  Don't forget if you do a DIY conversion on the red tail lights too, you need to keep the reflectors for the MOT ;) :nono: Richard :smw:

Do i need indicators on wings???
This has been answered before IIRC - PaulC is an MOT tester and will confirm this, I believe. As long as you can see the indicators flashing from the side view of the car it's OK. I don't think the front ones wrap around enough to see clearly from the side but repeaters on the mirrors would be OK. Richard :smw:

Knightrider fans.......
Cool, apart from Devon dying though. Wasn't that in Knightrider2000 the crappy film set in the future when Michael built KITT into a classic Chevvy, before finally transforming him into the red beast? The only one I haven't seen is the last episode of the TV series  Richard
