Car wash - big rear spoilers
Ditto mate. I will NEVER take any car I own through a mechanised car wash. No matter how gentle the operators claim the bristles are - they are ALL bad news and will leave many tiny scratches in your paintwork. You can't beat a good hand-job, oops, I mean hand wash..... Richard

Emulsified Oil
True - it can indicate head gasket failure but my Rav-4 developed this after 1 week of local driving when I bought it. I cleaned the mayonnaise off the filler cap and 18 months/15k (longer journey) miles later it never re-appeared. No oil or water loss so everything is OK. Richard

Lotus Esprits and engine sizes
Always loved the Esprit - especially the V8  Wouldn't have thought the 2.2 was quicker to 60 though - most certainly isn't 0-100 or over the 1/4. Thing is, there were sooo many variants of the 2.2 I wouldn't know which was which. Although the most powerful 2.2 was around 300bhp and the V8 is 350-ish. Look here: http://www.carstats.co.uk/results.php?make=lotus&model=esprit&offset=10 Richard :)

18's or 19's
Agreed here  Best compromise between ride and looks. More practical too as these cars eat tyres and 18s are much easier on the pocket to replace. Richard :)

front lights
Nothing at all illegal about that - the new Mercs have a relay that when you indicate at night, the fog light on that side comes on "to light your way round the corner!" It maybe a wiring fault or someone wired it that way..... Richard :)

what car?
If you "must" have either of these, then I voted Vauxhall as I would never have a Ford EVER. The Focus does get a good write-up though and has a Volvo engine. Astra is faster but suffers from massive torque steer. Also Astra is better looking IMO. Personally if I had to chose from that class I would pick a Civic Type-R or the new Golf GTi. A little more upmarket would be an Audi S3, good 4x4 handling.... Your choice though mate. Richard :)

what a waste of money!!
How about X321ARO OK it doesn't look anything more than a regular X reg plate. BUT when you see it in your rear view mirror it says something else!! Richard

the ultimate plate
If your log book says 1993 then you can go up to an "L" reg plate. How come it currently sports an "H" plate if it's registered as a 1993? Richard :)

Is it worthbreaking my car
Looks far too good a ZX to break mate :( For what it's worth, get it to Ryan at Z-tech so he can give it the once over and see what's wrong with it. It may not cost you as much to put right as you think. Good luck with whatever you do mate. Richard :)

Are some people at traffic lights wating for a different shade of green??
Not just you mate - I find there are far too many dithering idiots on the road nowadays :headvswal Many lights have been re-phased so only 5 cars get through at the best of times so when one to55er takes an hour to go on green that's it for the rest of the day  These are the same twats who are scared of their own shadow and drive everywhere at Then there're the real assholes who drive at 45mph on a straight national limit road holding everyone up, hooting and flashing anyone who dares to overtake them.........then the same fekkers carry on doing 45mph when they hit 30mph limits through villages :xxx: Richard :)

MOT today.......

Any update on where and when here? Richard :)

Fookin White Van Men
Ditto mate. If you're fully comp then your insurer pays out now and claims it back from 3rd party later on. Don't worry about NCB etc - as it's not your fault your insurers won't let it rest until they've got their money back from the other driver. They won't want to pay out for nothing. Richard :)

Nuts!!!!!
Another good theory mate  Live in hope..... Richard

the ultimate plate
Hi mate, You cannot put an M plate on a 1990 car - DVLA regulations clearly state you cannot make the car appear newer than it is. If you buy a reg from DVLA direct they ask what year of car you are going to put the plate on and warn you of the law before you hand over the money. They then remind you of your legal obligations for mis-representing the letters/numbers and even ask why you want those specific initials. You get one last chance to change your mind before entereing into a legally binding contract to buy the plate and promise not to break the law on displaying it. I've bought 3 from them over the last 5 years and the process has always been the same. HTH Richard

Nuts!!!!!
AND stating a price of £4,000. Hopefully that should show up the crappy ebay cars at £2,000 for what they are. Richard

Cockney Rhyming Slang.
As one who grew up in the East End of London (although I'm NOT a cockney) I can say that most of them are modern variants, commonly used by people from all regions in the UK nowadays just to sound fashionable. (Isn't the term Mockney?) Only one or two of the terms there are real cockney rhyming slang. Inded the real thing is a dying trait, although there are still some "traditional" cockneys (young and old) in some parts of London keeping the old language alive. Richard :)

Wrecked Audi A3 !!
No need for apologies mate. :( You've every reason to be wound up by the pics. I personally have not studied them in detail (only looked at 2 of them) as I have no interest in the hows or whys. Thankfully there is no evidence of the occupants for all to see - unlike some sick pics that have made it onto the 'net. Richard
-
A thought on OIL
True - especially as most of us have it changed every 3000 miles anyway. However fully synthetic will always be better - especially for the turbos - and the prices are not too different to prohibit buying fully synth either. Richard :)
-
Wrecked Audi A3 !!
I can see your point, but looking at the pics there is no evidence of a mangled person in that car - suggesting it is not entirely what it seems. By the way the car has split it could have been a "cut & shut" ringer though.....(not intended to be a tastless joke, but an observation as to the outcome of the impact on the car) Richard :(

nuts
Heh heh - if I feel like a c#nt I sometimes accelerate very gently (barely breaking 2000rpm), just to let them think they can keep up...... ......then just when they believe they are holding their own against a "proper" car I give them a grin and nail it  I know I shouldn't (and I don't do it often) but it is fun Richard :)

Outlander Motorsport
Is that Roxie Hart mate? I bought the same kit 18 months ago from Mark and mine is fine. I did have a broken bulb but Mark replaced it for me without question. I went to his shop (only 12 miles from me) and he even fitted it FOC - seemed like a decent fella. I know he was thinking about closing the business a few months back due to personal problems (read ex-mrs) but he posted later to say he was carrying on?? Sorry to hear of your problem though, Rich. Didn't another trader here also stock the same HID kit - maybe they could help? Richard :)

Blueflame Exhausts
