football...
I don't see Wayne Rooney becoming a Nobel Prize winner, in fact his weight is higher than his IQ  They can still be thick yet earn copious sums of money doing something they love, because it doesn't take a rocket scientist to play football! The players may indeed bring smiles to tha faces of many children but then football has also been a catalyst for violence and thuggery against supporters of a rival club. And no, I do not hate football because I was no good at it (even though I wasn't ;) ) I preferred rugby and athletics instead. I just hate the game because of the unfortuate yob culture that occasionally follows it and the fact that it's given such a high profile over everything else. Still we are all different and that is what makes us so interesting........... :D Richard :smw:

Lucky for them.......
My neighbour's rear garden is all gravelled over and has larger fist-size stones around the trees and pots etc. My drive runs beside her rear garden leading to my garage at the back. She is very nice and has 2 small boys, who are polite and well behaved.......normally! The eldest one who is about 4-ish loves my ZX ;) I went out to my garage this afternoon and found 4 of the big fist sized stones right where my SLK would have been parked, if it wasn't at the garage in the village having new brakes fitted  It was pretty obvious the boys were mucking about throwing them over the fence. I politely returned the stones to her, explaining where I found them and "how lucky it was that my car was away being repaired"; she was very apologetic and I suspect there will be some unhappy children next door tonight! Richard :(

Thanks to Si
You can still have a smaller plate, so long as the characters and spacing is the same as a normal UK spec plate. I have a 99-spec front bumper and my front plate is only around 7-8 inches wide (it fits exactly on the raised bit so is the same width as a J-spec plate). As I only have 5 characters in my reg number, normal UK spec letters/numbers fit perfectly. I have got through 4 MOTs like that now so it must be OK. Richard :smw:

football...
Great story mate  I still have to say though, if it were not for football most of today's young players would probably be in prison (if there were room in our overcrowded jails ;) ) I also think most players are morons who have nothing else to offer society. I still think it is wrong that a footballer can earn £100k per week when a heart surgeon earns that in a year and the latter saves lives  And even though Blair may do a crap job, he still has the responsibility of running the country yet some players earn TB's annual wage in a couple of weeks. Yes, I expect most of us are jealous of their money, cars, lifestyle etc. But hand on heart can anyone say the players actually deserve said trappings just for kicking a ball around for a couple of hours a week, then falling over and crying, pretending they have been hurt? Football is life for some people but as I hate it, I just ignore it and it (usually) ignores me :D Richard :smw:

football...
I agree. Far too much press given to a stupid game played by poncey overpaid morons  There is enough crap on TV nowadays anyway wihout this stupid game being shown on "normal" TV twice in a row. I think football should only be shown on Sky - everyone who likes football has Sky anyway so why not? Richard :headvswal

New Exhaust(Yeah!!)but now she smokes??
If it is the turbo seals, chances are they have been on their way out for some time. The reduction in back pressure just shows it up......... ..........It could still go on for ages yet. My car never smoked at all but after fitting a Blue Flame exhaust last year I occasionally see a little blue smoke at idle from the left pipe. I don't worry about it though - It's not consuming oil and the car still runs perfectly. Perhaps Duffer is right with PCV valves ;) Richard :D

Aertotop MK IV Supra question?
Yup, sure was! There are a fair few of these available for sale now - the GZ spec is the top of the TT range. All UK cars were equivalent to Jap GZ spec but no aerotop was available in the UK. Richard ;)

Wheels but what tyres??
The profile is a percentage of the tyre width. Therefore as you have wider tyres on the rear, in order to keep the running circumference and diameter the same you need a lower profile. So if you have 235/40/18 on the front, the profile is 40% of 235mm (94mm); then having 265/35/18 on the rear, the profile is 35% of 265mm (93mm). Close enough not to affect ABS sensors etc - geddit? Richard :smw:
-
money pit...
True, but luckily aftermarket alloys have such low profile tyres that when you do have a blow out the wheel only falls an inch or so, therefore the effect is not so dramatic and you can remain in control. Happened to me 3 years ago, changing lanes at 90mph on a dual carriageway  Richard :smw:

Oil recommendation
It would be a bit too thick in winter to circulate round the engine quickly on start-up. Go for a "10w" I only buy a "5w" because most readliy available fully synthetics come in that grade. The "w" bit only refers to cold viscosity so a 5w40 and 10w40 perform the same at high temps. Richard :smw:

Outrageous, is it going too far
Hey Mark, Do you fancy starting our own political party and running for government? Richard

un-natural thoughts
Great answer :D The BMW will not be anymore expensive to run than the 300zx I reckon. 5.6 litre V12 is fastest; the earlier V12s are just gas guzzlers and do not have the performance you'd think. That's why the 4.4 V8 is probably the best buy. They do look good, just don't buy that metallic red - it is better suited to the 5-series IMO. Black or silver all the way. And whoever mentioned the Maseratti 3200 - awesome car; I'd buy one of those  Richard :smw:

Oil recommendation
:D It was once - showed zero oil pressure then :x: Richard :smw:

255/40/19 will they fit on the rear?
Yep! 255/40 with 17s 255/35 with 18s 255/30 with 19s Richard :D

Shame how cheap the Zed's Are Selling
What's wrong with the 928? I have driven a few examples and have always been inpressed with the car - for many it is still the "Daddy" of the fast GT cars (in which the 300zx is in the same class). I was actually looking at buying one before I bought the ZX; whilst I ultimately chose the ZX for superior looks, Japanese reliability (no comments there please - mine has never let me down :D ) and better value, I'd still consider seling the ZX for a late model 928GTS if I found an immaculate low mileage example. Richard :smw:

Oil recommendation
Shell Helix Ultra 5w40 fully synth. (Stock-ish UK spec TT auto). My car now has 88k miles and still shows "textbook" oil pressure even at high temperatures. :hyper: Richard :D

Another newbie MPG question
My thoughts too :D If you are worried about fuel economy, then a 3 litre twin turbo monster petrol engined car should not be on your list. Richard :x: PS my average runs at 19mpg; I have seen 25mpg (just) on a long m-way run at 90-100mph but never any more than that.

Very Disturbing
Don't worry about it mate - afterall you could............

Very Disturbing
Heh heh, I thought that too  However I'm not really so selfish that I couldn't give a feck whether the planet survives....... ..........I also think that most stories of global warming are shite. The Earth is just going through a regular cycle of temperature change; it was much hotter 1000 (yes just 1000) years ago and the south of England had temperatues similar to the Med at the time of the Norman conquest. Things got a lot colder in the 16th and 17th centuries and are merely returning to how they were. Most tripe spouted about CO2 is just propaganda spouted by politicians to raise taxes so that the vast majority of the population will not revolt. The media love to spread the word too :xxx: Still 2080 - I'll be 110 by then and hopefully being spoon-fed by a fit young nurse in a very tight uniform so I doubt I'll notice.... Richard :)

Vote a Vehicle off the Road Poll.
Cyclists who ride more than 2 abreast are just plain selfish and just do it deliberatley to cause obstruction. I was out the other weekend and a whole group of cyclists were riding 4-5 abreast on a 70mph dual carriageway :wack: . B@stards deserved to be knocked off IMO  2 abreast may be acceptable in the highway code but they really should consider the width of the road and speed limit before making that decision. Also I think they should be prepared to move into single file temporarily to allow cars to pass if necessary. I've nothing against cyclists normally but I bet over 90% do not have any 3rd party insurance. What if they knock someone over on a zebra crossing or jump a red light get hit by a car with right of way? How does the pedestrian or motorist claim for damage? Then if they just ride off, there is very little chance of them being traced (cars have registration plates, cyclists don't) IMO EVERY road user other than a pedestrian (from horse rider to cyclist) should have 3rd party insurance and some identifying mark by law, just like a car or motorbike - that would be fair. Richard :)

Vote a Vehicle off the Road Poll.
I voted for car & caravan. Far too many of them driving around and holding up the traffic. Horse boxes are slow too, but there are not so many of them clogging up the roads and as for old people - we all drive ZXs so we can easily overtake them  So caravanners - if you want to live like a pikey and enjoy sleeping in a tin sweat-box and pissing in a bucket there's something wrong with you. Burn the bloody thing and go on a proper holiday FFS :smash: Richard :)

leather / suade instrument binacle
Maybe one of the last "special editions" in Japan did but I don't think it was ever standard. Could be wrong though......... Look on Luke's (Z centre) site for interior trim, I'm sure he sells one. Richard :)
