took a nice trip out today
Nice one - I'm pleased you had a good trip in your Z mate!! LOL - then you've got a fuel leak or a heavy right foot!! On a reasonable run I will often get 150 miles from 1/2 a tank. I don't hang around either - I sometimes consider National speed limit as an arbitrary starting point:innocent: Richard:biggrin:

Bloody hell
Sorry to see that mate:no: Did you take some pics of his van over the white lines to prove he was at fault - otherwise it's just your word against his if there were no witnesses? I hope you get it sorted without too much hassle. Richard:flowers:

joys of owning a zed
Nope!! I just clean it, drive it, and clean it again!! Oh and yes I do have to feed its voracious appetite for Shell's finest. And rear tyres........:tt2: Richard:chef:

130w main headlight filaments....
Hi Alan, What Jeff said..... ....plus is it worth it? If you have HIDs for your dipped beam then ideally you'd hardly use main beam. But if you do, then why not consider some upgraded bulbs of standard wattage - like Osram Nightbreakers or Philips Extreme? They have been tested by Auto Express and found to give a vastly superior light output, so would probably render higher wattage bulbs of lesser manufacturers largely irrelevant! Richard:yes:

Got my Escort back
Firstly Rob, I'm pleased you have it back - It does indeed just look like joy riders...!! Secondly, as to whether I'd want it back afterwards - well that would depend on how easy it would be to replace it like for like. For instance if my ZX got stolen and then recovered, what's the liklihood of me finding another low mileage rust free UK spec car this side of whenever? So whilst I would feel violated at the thought of what some scrote was doing to my car, maybe (just maybe) I could eventually put it out of my mind and accept it back after it was fully repaired to pre-theft condition. But that's how I feel about my ZX...... Your Escort looked a pretty clean and, most likely, unique example. However it was just a daily hack for you (if I'm not mistaken) and could just as easily be replaced with something else. And you only had it 5 minutes, so it's not like you formed a bond with it as you might with your ZX. So if you can get it repaired easily and cheaply, then do so. Then continue using it as a daily hack to preserve your ZX - why go through the cost & aggro of looking for another car, selling the Escort etc etc...... Richard:flowers:

Should i give him his money back?
My thoughts too - tell the buyer to try another garage!! Anyway, back to your question. I assume you described the tyres sufficiently well and did not mis-represent their condition in any way..... .....and then he came round, took a look and gave you the cash there and then. In my book that's sold as seen; he had ample opportunity to reject them at the time - it's not like he won the bid, you posted them out and he didn;t like them when they arrived. He actually came to see the tyres before handing over money. I wouldn't refund his money; it's a done deal to me. Richard:cool2:

Humps!
Some of the ones en route to my parents' house in Leyton are hooge - Capworth street has a couple that might cause problems for the odd 4x4......:scared: Richard:cool3:

The Germans do as well mate - Merc also do this in their sports cars! Although they probably knicked the idea from the Japanese:sailor: Richard:batman:

for you insurance techies out there
Superb write-up by Hollowpoint. Thanks mate - you know we ought to make this a "sticky" in the FAQ storage area. There's nothing like the voice of someone in the trade to put things into perspective for the benefit of us all. Richard:cool2:

A passion for Zeds gone a bit too far...
I'd say so...... .....I mean it was a 350z....!! Now if it had been a 300zx I may have been more sympathetic!!! Richard:lol:

Green Phoenix rises again
Good to hear that Tony. That's a fine example you have there (I remember seeing it in the flesh when you were Aylesbury based). Richard:cool3:

gulp getting really nervous!
Good news on the new job offer mate - but I can see where you're concerned over the 3 month rolling contract. But, if they've offered it to you it seems they may want you over anyone else. So you've nothing to lose by negotiating - after all you were otherwise happy (not to mention secure) in your old job. So why would you give it up on a whim? If they still say no and you walk away, you're no worse off and you still have a safe job. Good luck - I'm sure it will work out just right for you mate. Richard:cool3:
