Newbie here with 300ZX-TT
Welcome to the club Mark!! And good luck with your new purchase - love the interior too. You could do a lot worse than to get your ZX to Zedworld; Jeff & co will give it a thorough going over and let you know anything that needs doing. Richard:cool2:

Soon to be new Z owner
Welcome to the club mate! I actually live about 6 miles from where that yellow Z is being sold - and have even taken a look at it on behalf of another member.........:sweatdrop: Good luck in your hunt - and if you have any questions about the yellow one feel free to ask...... ......as I don't really want to make any comments in an open forum:wink: Richard:cool2:

Tax advice
All good points raised above; but no-one has asked the crucial question....... .....what does it say in your employment contract about where your regular place of work is? If your regular place of work is your home or a regional office local to you then any journey you make to another location, no matter how often, (well not if it's virtually every day!!) would be classed by HM Revenue & Customs as a business journey. Generally speaking you would only have one regular place of work - people who work regularly at multiple locations (such as DIFFERENT clients' premises on a day to day basis) for the vast majority of the time will be classed as working from home - so when they visit any client it can qualify as a business journey. So assuming your journeys to the Luton office do qualify as business related from what I've said above, then the associated overnight accommodation would also qualify. To be a business expense, it must be WHOLLY, EXCLUSIVELY AND NECESSARY for business purposes (HMRC rules again - and yes it must be all 3). Therefore your overnight lodgings may be wholly & exclusively business - because you're not enjoying any personal benefit from it. But is it necessary? You can argue yes, owing to the length of your journey and the working day (think EC working time regulations; health & safety etc - IE is it safe for you to do an 8 hour shift, with an 3 extra hours drive each way on top?). Your company may have said they will not pay, but that does not prevent you claiming the expenses against your earnings. You may be under PAYE but you can still prepare a tax return each year; there is a box to fill in for any business related expenditure you incur in the course of your employment (that is paid employment under schedule E which is separate from self employment). And it's self assessment, so you make the claim. If HMRC question it you can state your case from what I have said above - if they don't agree they will not allow the claim and if they do, you get the tax back and/or have your tax code amended for the extra costs you incur. As for how I know - I'm an accountant by profession - although I left public practice a few years back so I'm a bit rusty on the current section numbers etc. However I do keep my hand in a little - I still do accounts related work but as FD for a private company. I have to know a fair bit about tax regs to manage the company's finances and deal with tax and employment matters for my own staff! If you need anything explained further, drop me a PM.... Intermittent Steering Wheel Shuddering...any ideas?
I'd say that the left hand front brake is binding mate! I had the same problem myself - severe judder at various speeds between 30 and 80 mph. The car otherwise drove straight and true, and still stopped when it should. However I noticed the same thing as you - a hot front wheel, accompanied by the smell of fried brake pads! You may also notice that the brake pedal feels a lot firmer than usual, which gives the impression that the brakes are better than they really are. I bought a set of replacement calipers from Jeff, got my local garage to fit them and all is well once more!! Richard:chef:

Hi Dan, Is Craig in Stoke Mandeville? If he's up to taking visitors, I could always pop in to wish him well on my way home from work next week - I pass by every day. Richard:cool3:

A bit of trimming
Nice work mate - that makes all the difference to the interior of the car IMO! Richard:cool2:

Pre MOT Check?
Exactly! It depends on the discretion of the garage, and what the car fails on. Julia took the Rav for its MOT last week and unfortunately there was a tear on the inner side wall of one of the tyres. The garage (of which we are regular customers) gave 10 days to re-present it for a retest FOC. Richard:cool3:

any difference
No such thing as silly questions mate - only silly answers!! As said, the only bodywork differences are between LWB/SWB/slicktop/convertable. The year of the car makes no difference aside from a few cosmetic changes. The 1995 spec had a different rear spoiler to the 1989 spec; and then the 1999 spec had a different front bumper and yet another rear spoiler change. As for wings and other panels, they would be the same compared to different years of the same style of ZX. Richard:cool3:

Halfords
I used Halfords to mix me up a touch-up pot of TK3 Marine Blue for my ZX and the colour was spot on too!! I think they have improved a bit recently - and they often have good 3 for 2 deals on car cleaning products; which can save a fair few pounds. Richard:sorcerer:
